Overview
The Etronix 15kg/0.16s STD Digi Servo Metal Gear Waterproof (ET2069) is a professional-grade standard-sized servo designed for RC enthusiasts who demand reliability, durability and consistent performance across demanding applications. Whether you're piloting an RC car, boat or aircraft, this waterproof metal-gear servo delivers the combination of speed and torque needed to handle responsive steering, throttle control and complex multi-axis manoeuvres. Built by Etronix, a recognised name in quality RC components, the ET2069 represents an excellent upgrade path for anyone looking to enhance their model's responsiveness and longevity without breaking the bank.
This servo is particularly well-suited for serious hobbyists who regularly operate their RC vehicles in challenging conditions. The robust metal gear train ensures that whether you're bashing through wet terrain, launching from a water ramp, or executing precision flight manoeuvres, your servo will maintain consistent output and durability through repeated use. For RC car UK enthusiasts, boat operators and aircraft pilots alike, the ET2069 provides the waterproof protection and metal construction that separates budget servos from genuinely reliable components. With its compact standard-size form factor, the ET2069 fits seamlessly into most RC platforms without requiring mechanical modifications, making it an ideal drop-in replacement for worn servos or an upgrade from plastic-gear alternatives.
The digital control circuitry ensures precise servo response with minimal dead band, translating driver input directly into accurate model control. This makes the ET2069 suitable for both casual weekend bashers and more serious RC operators who demand predictable handling characteristics. At just 58 grams, the servo contributes minimal weight to your model whilst delivering performance that rivals servos costing significantly more.
Key Features
- Waterproof Design — The sealed construction protects internal electronics and gearing from water ingress, allowing confident operation in wet conditions, around pools and in light rain, extending the lifespan of your servo and reducing maintenance requirements.
- Metal Gear Train — Unlike plastic alternatives that wear and develop backlash over time, the full metal gearing ensures consistent torque delivery and durability through thousands of operating cycles, maintaining precision even under load.
- Digital Control Electronics — The digital servo circuitry provides superior linearity and response compared to analogue servos, translating throttle and steering inputs into smooth, predictable model movements with minimal lag or dead zones.
- High Torque Output — Delivering 15kg-cm of rotational force at 6.0V, the ET2069 handles demanding steering inputs in RC cars, responsive control surfaces on aircraft and directional authority on boats without hesitation or deflection.
- Exceptional Speed — A transit time of just 0.16 seconds per 60 degrees means rapid servo response, critical for precise steering corrections in RC racing, quick aileron inputs in flight, and snappy throttle control on water.
- Standard-Size Form Factor — The compact 54.4 x 20.0 x 37.9mm dimensions fit most standard servo mounting brackets and bays across the broadest range of RC platforms, from 1/10 scale RC cars through to lightweight aircraft.
- 25T Spline Compatible — The 25-tooth spline accepts the widest selection of servo horns and aftermarket components available, giving you complete flexibility in control linkage design and horn choice.
- Metal and Plastic Hybrid Case — The combination of metal and plastic construction provides excellent strength-to-weight ratio, protecting internal components whilst keeping overall servo weight to an absolute minimum for your RC model.
- Budget-Friendly Performance — Offering the durability and specifications of servos costing considerably more, the ET2069 delivers remarkable value for money without compromising on essential features like waterproofing and metal gearing.
Technical Performance
The Etronix ET2069 represents a thoughtful engineering approach to servo design, combining performance specifications that appeal to serious RC operators without excessive complexity or cost. Operating on a nominal 6.0V supply (compatible with standard NiMh battery packs), the servo generates 15 kilogram-centimetres of sustained torque, sufficient for responsive steering and throttle control across most RC applications. The 0.16-second transit time across a 60-degree arc places the ET2069 firmly in the fast-servo category, enabling quick control inputs essential for both competitive RC racing and precise hobby flying. The metal gear train is the critical engineering advantage here; whilst plastic alternatives might cost slightly less initially, the metal construction resists wear, prevents backlash from developing, and maintains consistent torque output over thousands of operating cycles. This durability translates directly to longer servo lifespan and more predictable handling characteristics throughout the season. The waterproof case construction is engineered to seal against water ingress without creating excessive internal resistance, allowing the servo to perform reliably in outdoor environments, around water features and in damp conditions that would compromise lesser servos. At just 58 grams, the servo's weight penalty is negligible compared to the performance and longevity gains delivered by the metal gear construction. The digital control electronics are optimised for linearity and response time, ensuring that small steering inputs produce proportional servo movement without the dead band or jittery behaviour sometimes associated with older analogue designs.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use the Etronix ET2069 servo in my FTX RC car? — Yes, the ET2069 is widely compatible with FTX platform vehicles including the Carnage NT, Carnage 2.0, Outlaw, Outback Geo, Outback Fury 2.0, Ramraider and Evo30 models. However, if you're using it as a throttle servo on a brushless vehicle, you may want to consider the ET2070 which offers higher torque specifically for brake control applications.
- Is the Etronix ET2069 suitable for beginner RC operators? — Absolutely. The standard-size form factor and straightforward mounting make installation straightforward, whilst the robust metal gearing means you won't experience premature wear even if your technique is still developing. The waterproof design gives beginners confidence operating in real-world outdoor conditions, and the digital control provides responsive, predictable handling that helps build driving skills.
- What voltage does this servo require? — The ET2069 operates on a nominal 6.0V supply, compatible with standard NiMh battery packs used in most RC transmitters and receiver packs. This is the standard voltage for digital servo operation in the RC hobby.
- How does the Etronix ET2069 compare to other metal-gear servos? — The ET2069 delivers genuinely competitive performance; the 15kg-cm torque and 0.16-second speed place it at the performance level of servos costing significantly more. The key differentiator is value for money; you're getting waterproof protection and full metal gearing without premium pricing, making it an intelligent choice for operators looking to balance performance and budget.
- Is this servo waterproof? — Yes, the servo features comprehensive waterproof sealing designed to protect against water ingress during operation in wet conditions, around pools, and in light rain. However, it should not be continuously submerged or exposed to high-pressure water jets.
- What's the difference between this servo and plastic-gear alternatives? — Metal gears maintain consistent torque output and resist wear from thousands of operating cycles, whilst plastic alternatives develop backlash and may strip teeth under load. The metal construction in the ET2069 ensures predictable handling throughout the season and significantly longer operational lifespan.
- Does the servo come with horns and mounting hardware? — Yes, the ET2069 includes a basic mounting kit with brackets and fasteners, plus multiple servo horns. This means you can install the servo immediately without additional purchases in most applications.
