In stock and usually shipped the same day, ordering your 12AWG yellow silicone wire from RC Model Shop means you can get your RC project back on track without delay.
Key Features
- 12 AWG Gauge Rating — The 12 gauge specification provides a thick, robust conductor suitable for high-current applications found in motor wiring and main battery leads, ensuring minimal voltage drop and safe operation even under heavy load conditions typical of brushless RC vehicles.
- 100cm Length Supply — The generous 100 centimetre length gives you plenty of cable to work with, allowing you to reach from battery to ESC, ESC to motor, or create custom harnesses without needing to join multiple pieces together and compromise reliability.
- Multi-Core Construction — The multi-core conductor design provides superior flexibility compared to solid wire, allowing you to bend, route and position the cable around tight corners and through confined spaces within your RC car or truck chassis without risk of cracking or breaking the internal conductors.
- Silicone Shielded Insulation — High-quality silicone insulation protects the internal conductors from abrasion, moisture and heat damage, whilst remaining supple at both high and low temperatures, making this cable reliable whether you're racing your RC buggy in summer heat or winter conditions.
- Bright Yellow Colour — The distinctive yellow colour provides excellent colour-coding for your electrical connections, allowing you to quickly identify positive leads or specific circuits, reducing the risk of dangerous wiring errors during assembly and maintenance.
- Professional Grade Quality — Manufactured by Etronix, a recognised supplier of RC connectors, switches and cables, this wire meets the standards expected by serious RC hobbyists and competition drivers who demand reliability and performance.
Technical Performance
The Etronix 12AWG silicone wire is engineered for serious RC applications where power delivery and safety are paramount. The 12 gauge specification (equivalent to approximately 2.64mm in metric SWG) provides a conductor thick enough to safely handle the high current draws generated by brushless motors in 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC vehicles, whether you're running 2S, 3S, 4S or higher LiPo batteries. The multi-core construction offers superior flexibility compared to solid conductors, making it ideal for routing through tight spaces in your RC chassis whilst maintaining electrical integrity. The silicone insulation is rated for the temperature extremes encountered in RC applications, resisting both the heat generated by sustained high-current operation and the cold that can make standard PVC insulation brittle. This makes the cable equally suitable for winter RC racing in the UK or intensive summer bashing sessions. The thick insulation also provides excellent abrasion resistance, protecting against wear from contact with chassis edges, other components, and repeated flexing during assembly and maintenance. For anyone building or upgrading an RC car, truck, buggy or truggy, this cable represents the professional choice for motor leads, main battery connections and any circuit requiring high current capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is 12AWG wire suitable for in RC applications? — The 12 gauge specification makes this wire ideal for motor power leads, main battery connectors, and ESC connections in 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC vehicles. It safely handles the high current draws from brushless motors and provides excellent conductivity with minimal voltage drop, which is critical for maintaining performance in your RC car or truck.
- Can I use this wire for a 4S LiPo battery connection? — Yes, the 12AWG gauge is well-suited for 4S LiPo battery applications and even higher voltages. The thick conductor safely carries the current demand of brushless motors used in competition-grade RC buggies, monster trucks and other high-performance vehicles commonly used in the UK RC scene.
- Why is silicone insulation better than standard PVC? — Silicone insulation is superior to PVC because it remains flexible in extreme temperatures, resists heat generated by high-current operation, and is more resistant to abrasion and chemical damage. For RC applications where your cable must flex repeatedly and withstand heat from the motor and ESC, silicone provides much greater durability and safety.
- Is 100cm enough cable for my RC project? — The 100 centimetre length provides ample cable for most RC applications, allowing you to run from battery to ESC to motor without needing to splice additional pieces. If you need longer runs or multiple connections, consider ordering multiple packs or using connector pairs at strategic points in your wiring harness.
- What is the difference between 12AWG, 14AWG and 16AWG wire? — The gauge number indicates wire thickness, with lower numbers being thicker. 12AWG is thicker and carries more current than 14AWG or 16AWG, making it suitable for high-power applications like motor leads. 14AWG and 16AWG are better for servo leads, receiver power and other lower-current circuits in your RC setup.
- Can beginners use this wire? — Absolutely. While this is a professional-grade component, the wire itself is straightforward to use. Beginners building their first RC car should use 12AWG for main power connections to ensure safety and reliability. Soldering or crimping connectors to this gauge wire requires basic skills, and there are plenty of guides available online.
