Overview
The Team Associated FT Titanium Turnbuckle 4-40 x 42mm (AS92342) is a precision linkage component designed for RC enthusiasts who demand accuracy and reliability in their suspension and steering assemblies. Whether you're running an RC car UK-wide or competing at the highest levels, this genuine Team Associated spare part ensures your model maintains the exact geometry specified in your build manual. The turnbuckle's 42mm length and 4-40 thread specification make it an essential upgrade for anyone looking to achieve repeatable, accurate link length adjustment on their RC buggy, truck, or touring car.
Built from titanium rather than traditional steel or aluminium, this FT turnbuckle combines exceptional strength with a lightweight design — a critical advantage when every gram counts in competitive RC racing. The titanium construction resists corrosion and fatigue better than standard materials, meaning your linkage adjustments remain stable through hundreds of runs and countless vibration cycles. This is the kind of precision engineering that separates casual RC hobbyists from serious competitors who understand that suspension geometry directly impacts handling, cornering grip, and overall vehicle performance.
If you're building a new RC model from a kit, upgrading an existing car, or simply replacing worn turnbuckles on your competition machine, the AS92342 delivers the quality you expect from Team Associated. Available now at RC Model Shop, this is a must-have spare for anyone running compatible 4-40 rod ends in their suspension linkage.
Key Features
- Titanium Construction — Unlike standard steel turnbuckles, the titanium alloy used here provides superior strength-to-weight ratio, making your RC car lighter whilst maintaining rigidity where it matters most in suspension geometry.
- 4-40 Thread Specification — The 4-40 thread size is a standard specification for precision RC linkages, ensuring compatibility with Team Associated rod ends and most aftermarket 4-40 compatible components in the RC hobby.
- 42mm Length — The exact 42mm length ensures you achieve the correct suspension geometry when your build manual or tuning guide specifies this measurement, eliminating guesswork and allowing for accurate, repeatable setup.
- Precision Linkage Adjustment — Fine adjustment capability in your suspension and steering allows you to dial in the exact handling characteristics your RC car needs, whether that's more or less caster angle, camber adjustment, or steering throw.
- Lightweight Performance Upgrade — By reducing unsprung weight in your suspension linkage, titanium turnbuckles help improve suspension responsiveness and overall vehicle dynamics, particularly noticeable on high-speed or technical track layouts.
- Corrosion Resistance — Titanium resists rust and oxidation far better than steel, meaning your turnbuckles maintain their finish and mechanical properties even after exposure to moisture or harsh racing conditions at UK tracks.
- Genuine Team Associated Component — Part number AS92342 guarantees you're getting the authentic, quality-controlled component designed by the engineers at Team Associated rather than a generic copy.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT Titanium Turnbuckle represents cutting-edge thinking in RC car design and tuning. Titanium's superior strength-to-weight ratio makes it the material choice for serious competitors who are shaving every possible gram from their vehicles without compromising structural integrity. The 4-40 thread specification is widely used across the RC industry for suspension linkages, steering assemblies, and fine-adjustment mechanisms where precision matters. The 42mm length positions this turnbuckle as a key component in achieving the exact suspension geometry your car's manual specifies — whether you're running a 1/10 touring car, a 1/10 buggy, a 1/10 truck, or any other Team Associated model that uses this thread and length combination. The titanium alloy's resistance to fatigue means repeated adjustment cycles won't cause the threads to strip or weaken, and its corrosion resistance ensures the component performs identically whether you're racing indoors or braving wet British weather at outdoor RC tracks. This is engineering designed to perform at competition level, where even microscopic changes in suspension geometry can shift lap times by hundredths of a second. Quality materials and precision manufacturing are what separate Team Associated's FT range from budget alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a turnbuckle and why do I need one for my RC car? — A turnbuckle is a precision linkage component that connects your RC car's suspension and steering rods, allowing fine-length adjustment for tuning. By adjusting turnbuckle length, you can change suspension geometry (caster, camber, toe), alter steering throw, or adjust ride height — all critical for achieving the handling characteristics your specific RC model needs.
- How do I know if the 4-40 x 42mm size is correct for my model? — Always check your Team Associated model's official manual or build guide to confirm the required thread size and length specification. The manual will specify whether you need 4-40 threads and 42mm length, or a different size. Installing the wrong size will prevent proper assembly or compromise suspension geometry.
- Why choose titanium over steel or aluminium turnbuckles? — Titanium offers the best strength-to-weight ratio, meaning these turnbuckles are lighter than steel equivalents whilst being stronger and more resistant to thread stripping. Aluminium is lighter still but weaker; steel is cheaper but heavier and more prone to rust. For competitive RC racing, titanium represents the performance sweet spot.
- Can I use these turnbuckles on other brands of RC cars? — Yes, if your RC car uses 4-40 rod ends and requires a 42mm turnbuckle length, these will work. However, always verify compatibility with your specific model's manual. Different manufacturers use different thread sizes (3mm, 3-48, 4-40, M3, M4) and lengths, so checking before purchase is essential.
- How often should I replace my turnbuckles? — Turnbuckles are wear items that deteriorate with use. If you notice threads are stripping, the component no longer holds adjustment, or you see visible corrosion, it's time to replace them. Regular replacement ensures your suspension geometry remains accurate and your car handles consistently.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Turnbuckles are precision components best used by builders and competitors with some RC experience. Beginners can certainly use them, but understanding suspension geometry and tuning principles will help you get the most benefit from fine-length adjustment. Team Associated's instructions and your car's manual provide clear guidance on installation and adjustment.
- What tools do I need to adjust these turnbuckles? — You'll need an appropriately sized wrench or spanner (typically 5/32-inch or similar) to grip the turnbuckle body while adjusting the threaded rod ends. A turnbuckle wrench or dedicated RC tool makes adjustment easier and prevents damage to the component.
