Technical Performance
The Team Associated B74 Centre CVA Set represents decades of engineering expertise applied to modern RC buggy dynamics. The constant velocity joint design eliminates the angular velocity variations that traditional axles produce, resulting in smoother acceleration feel and more predictable handling characteristics during competitive racing. At 95mm in length, this centre CVA assembly is precision-engineered to match the exact drivetrain geometry of the B74 platform, ensuring perfect integration with the transmission, differential, and wheel hubs. The materials and manufacturing processes reflect Team Associated's commitment to durability and performance; each component is designed to withstand the extreme stresses of high-speed cornering, acceleration, and braking typical of modern RC buggy competition. The smooth power delivery provided by the CVA design reduces wear on other drivetrain components whilst improving traction delivery to the wheels, resulting in better acceleration response and more predictable handling both on-road and off-road. For serious RC buggy enthusiasts in the UK, this component represents the foundation of a reliable, competition-capable drivetrain that delivers consistent performance lap after lap.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a CVA and why does my RC buggy need one? — A Constant Velocity Axle (CVA) is a specialised joint that maintains equal rotational speed throughout its entire range of motion, unlike standard axles which experience velocity variations at angles. This smoother power delivery improves handling precision, reduces drivetrain shock, and extends the lifespan of connected components. If you're experiencing jerky acceleration, inconsistent handling, or noticing excessive wear on your drivetrain, upgrading to a quality CVA system like this Team Associated component can significantly improve your RC buggy's performance and reliability.
- Is the AS92221 compatible with my B74? — Yes, this centre CVA set is designed to work with all Team Associated B74 platform variants, including the B74, B74.1, B74.2, and B74.2D models. The 95mm specification matches the factory geometry of these models perfectly. Always refer to your vehicle's manual or contact our team at RC Model Shop if you're uncertain about compatibility with your specific buggy variant.
- Do I need any other parts to install this CVA? — The centre CVA assembly is a single component designed to replace the existing centre drivetrain section. Installation typically requires only basic RC tools and mechanical knowledge. However, depending on the condition of your existing drivetrain, you may want to inspect and potentially replace other related components such as dogbones, universal joints, or differential components whilst you have the drivetrain disassembled.
- How often should I replace my CVA? — With proper maintenance and regular cleaning after use, a quality OEM CVA assembly like this one should provide thousands of kilometres of reliable service. You should inspect and clean your drivetrain regularly, especially after off-road use. Replace the CVA if you notice any grinding noise, hesitation during acceleration, or visible damage to the joints or connecting surfaces.
- What's the difference between OEM and aftermarket CVA sets? — Team Associated's genuine OEM parts are manufactured to the exact specifications and tolerances of the original factory components, ensuring perfect fitment and performance. Aftermarket alternatives may vary slightly in tolerances or materials. By choosing the genuine AS92221 component, you're investing in proven compatibility, manufacturer backing, and the confidence that your RC buggy will perform exactly as designed by the engineers who created the B74 platform.
- Can I upgrade my drivetrain with this part? — Absolutely. Even if your current CVA is still functional, upgrading to OEM-specification components ensures your entire drivetrain operates at peak efficiency. This can result in noticeably smoother acceleration, more predictable handling, and improved overall performance, particularly noticeable during competitive racing where precision matters.
