Overview

The Associated AS91701 Ball Differential Outdrives represent genuine replacement components designed specifically for RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and consistent performance from their RC car UK setups. These outdrives are engineered to work seamlessly with ball differential assemblies found across the popular Associated B6 family of buggies, including the B6, B6D, and B6.1 variants. Whether you're a dedicated racer maintaining competition-grade equipment or a weekend basher looking to keep your vehicle performing at its peak, these authentic Associated spares ensure your drivetrain remains smooth and responsive through countless runs.

As a genuine Associated replacement part, the AS91701 outdrives maintain the exacting standards Associated is renowned for throughout the RC buggy community. When your existing outdrives wear down from regular use or become damaged during intensive running sessions, these replacements restore your ball differential assembly to like-new condition. The smooth power delivery and consistent handling characteristics these components provide are essential for anyone serious about their RC buggy performance, whether you're competing at club events or enjoying casual backyard bashing with your ready to run RC car setup.

RC Model Shop stocks this essential spare part because we understand that serious RC enthusiasts need access to genuine, quality replacement components without compromise. The AS91701 outdrives are a critical component for maintaining your Associated buggy's drivetrain integrity, and having them available in UK stock means you can get back to racing or bashing without unnecessary delays.

Key Features

  • Genuine Associated Component — This is an authentic factory part manufactured by Associated, ensuring perfect compatibility and engineering standards that match your original equipment. Using genuine spares rather than aftermarket alternatives guarantees the exact fit and performance characteristics your buggy was designed around.
  • Ball Differential Compatibility — These outdrives are specifically designed for use with ball differential assemblies, which are prized by RC buggy racers for their smooth, predictable power delivery characteristics. The ball differential design allows for differential lock-up under acceleration whilst maintaining smooth turning, and these outdrives are engineered to work perfectly within that system.
  • Proven Associated B6 Family Compatibility — The AS91701 outdrives are compatible with multiple generations of the legendary Associated B6 platform, including the B6, B6D, and B6.1 models. This broad compatibility makes them an essential spare for anyone with any variant of this hugely popular 1/10 scale buggy.
  • Restores Smooth Drivetrain Operation — When your existing outdrives become worn or damaged, installing fresh genuine components immediately restores the smooth, reliable power delivery your buggy originally provided. This directly translates to better handling consistency and more predictable performance both on the track and during casual running sessions.
  • Quick and Easy Replacement — As a direct replacement spare part, installation is straightforward for anyone familiar with basic RC car maintenance. Simply follow your kit manual procedures for removal and installation, and you'll have your drivetrain restored in minutes.

Technical Performance

The AS91701 ball differential outdrives are precision-engineered components that form a critical part of your buggy's drivetrain system. These outdrives work in conjunction with your ball differential assembly to provide consistent power delivery to the wheels whilst allowing the differential to function smoothly during cornering and acceleration. The engineering tolerances and material selection used in these genuine Associated components ensure they can withstand the demanding conditions of regular RC buggy racing and bashing. Whether you're running on smooth asphalt tracks, bumpy off-road courses, or mixed terrain, these outdrives maintain their performance characteristics and reliability. The ball differential system combined with quality outdrives like the AS91701 provides superior handling characteristics compared to spool designs, allowing drivers to maintain better traction and control through corners whilst still benefiting from locked differential performance during straight-line acceleration. For serious RC buggy enthusiasts in the UK who demand the best performance from their vehicles, genuine Associated components like the AS91701 are the only choice that truly delivers the engineered performance your buggy was designed to achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly are ball differential outdrives and why do I need them? — Ball differential outdrives are components that connect your motor/transmission to your wheels via the differential assembly. They wear over time with use and can become damaged during crashes or intense driving. Replacing them with genuine parts restores smooth, reliable power delivery to your wheels and ensures your differential functions as originally engineered. If you notice grinding, clicking, or inconsistent power delivery from your buggy, worn outdrives are often the culprit.
  • Will the AS91701 outdrives fit my Associated buggy? — These genuine Associated outdrives are compatible with the B6, B6D, and B6.1 buggy models. However, we strongly recommend checking your kit manual and confirming the part number AS91701 matches your specific model before ordering. Different generations of Associated buggies may use different drivetrain components, so verification is important.
  • How often should I replace my ball differential outdrives? — Replacement frequency depends entirely on how much you use your RC buggy and how intensively you drive it. Weekend bashers might need replacements every few months of regular use, whilst competitive racers running multiple heats may see wear more quickly. Watch for signs of wear such as difficulty in smooth acceleration, grinding noises, or visible damage to the components.
  • Are these outdrives suitable for both racing and casual bashing? — Absolutely. These genuine Associated outdrives are engineered for the full range of Associated buggy usage, from competitive track racing to casual garden and park bashing. Whether you're running your B6 or B6.1 at club level or just enjoying weekend fun with your ready to run RC car, these components deliver reliable performance.
  • What's the difference between ball differential outdrives and spool outdrives? — Ball differentials, which these outdrives are designed for, use ball bearings to allow differential action during cornering whilst locking up under acceleration for optimal traction. Spool designs, by contrast, lock the wheels together at all times without any differential action. Ball differential setups provide superior handling on mixed terrain and during complex manoeuvres, making them the preferred choice for serious RC buggy drivers across the UK.
  • Can I install these outdrives myself? — If you have basic RC maintenance experience and access to your kit manual, installation is straightforward. However, if you're new to RC car maintenance or unsure about the process, we recommend consulting your manual carefully or seeking advice from experienced RC enthusiasts. RC Model Shop's team are always happy to help with installation questions.
