Overview

The Associated FT 12x23 V2 Shock Bodies with Kashima Coat (AS91576) represent a premium upgrade for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand superior performance and durability from their buggy and truck suspension systems. These are genuine FOX shocks featuring the legendary Kashima Coat finish, the same premium coating technology found on high-end FOX Factory Series forks used in professional motorsport. Whether you're a competitive racer, a weekend basher, or an experienced RC hobbyist looking to elevate your setup, these shock bodies deliver the silky-smooth action and extended lifespan that separates top-tier suspension components from standard alternatives.

Associated has engineered these FT 12x23 V2 shock bodies to provide the kind of refined damping characteristics that serious RC car UK competitors demand. The Kashima Coat is not merely cosmetic—it's a functional upgrade that reduces internal friction, extends the life of the shock internals, and delivers noticeably smoother suspension action throughout the entire range of motion. Available as a pair, these shock bodies are precision-engineered to match perfectly, ensuring your RC buggy or truck maintains balanced and predictable handling across all terrain types and driving conditions.

If you're running a Team Associated RC10B5, RC10B5M, or B44.3, or if you're upgrading any other compatible Associated platform, the FT 12x23 V2 shocks will transform your suspension performance. The 12mm inside diameter and 27.5mm stroke dimensions are specifically designed to fit seamlessly into your existing suspension geometry whilst delivering the premium feel and reliability that comes with genuine FOX technology and Kashima coating.

Key Features

  • Genuine FOX Shocks with Kashima Coat — These are authentic FOX-branded shock bodies coated with the genuine Kashima Coat finish, the same premium surface treatment that FOX applies to their factory-level suspension components for professional racing applications. This coating dramatically reduces friction between internal components, resulting in smoother damping action and extended component lifespan compared to uncoated alternatives.
  • Extended Lifespan and Durability — The Kashima Coat provides superior protection against wear, corrosion, and damage from dust, dirt, and moisture exposure during intense RC driving sessions. This means your shocks will maintain their performance characteristics for significantly longer than standard shock bodies, making them a smart long-term investment for any serious RC car UK enthusiast.
  • Silky-Smooth Shock Action — The reduced internal friction created by the Kashima Coat finish delivers noticeably smoother compression and rebound characteristics throughout the entire stroke range. This translates directly to more predictable handling, better traction, and improved overall vehicle stability across all driving conditions and terrain types.
  • Precise 12mm Inside Diameter — The 12mm internal bore dimension is engineered to provide optimal fluid dynamics and damping characteristics, ensuring consistent performance throughout compression and extension cycles regardless of driving intensity or surface conditions.
  • 27.5mm Stroke Specification — The 27.5mm up-and-down movement range provides the ideal suspension travel for the associated platforms these shocks are designed for, allowing proper articulation whilst maintaining stability and predictable handling characteristics through corners, over jumps, and across rough terrain.
  • V2 Engineering Platform — Representing the second generation of this proven design, the V2 designation indicates that Associated has refined and improved upon the original FT 12x23 formula. This updated engineering provides superior performance and compatibility across the wider range of Associated RC platforms.
  • Perfectly Matched Pair — These shocks come as a pre-matched set, meaning the body and shaft stroke characteristics are identical across both units. This ensures perfectly balanced suspension geometry and identical damping characteristics on both sides of your RC buggy or truck, which is critical for predictable and competitive handling.
  • Wide Platform Compatibility — Designed to fit the Team Associated B44.3, RC10B5, and RC10B5M directly, these shocks also offer compatibility with numerous other Associated models, making them a versatile upgrade option for collectors and enthusiasts with multiple vehicles.

Technical Performance

The FT 12x23 V2 shock bodies represent the pinnacle of suspension engineering for mid-scale RC buggies and trucks in the competitive UK RC racing scene. By utilising genuine FOX shock technology combined with the advanced Kashima Coat finish, Associated has created a component that performs at a level typically associated with premium race kits and professional competition setups. The 12mm bore diameter is precisely calculated to provide optimal fluid displacement characteristics, ensuring that damping forces remain consistent across the full range of suspension travel whether you're crawling slowly through technical sections or launching at high speed across open ground. The 27.5mm stroke dimension is engineered to match the suspension geometry of the B44.3, RC10B5, and RC10B5M platforms perfectly, allowing these shocks to integrate seamlessly without requiring any additional geometry modifications or compatibility adjustments. The internal friction reduction provided by the Kashima Coat finish means that even small inputs from terrain undulations are transmitted smoothly to the chassis, improving feedback to the driver and allowing for more precise vehicle control. Whether you're operating in dusty basking conditions or wet weather environments typical across the UK, the Kashima Coat's protective properties ensure your shocks maintain their performance envelope throughout extended driving sessions. The matched pairing ensures that suspension stiffness and response characteristics are identical across both left and right sides of your vehicle, which is absolutely critical for achieving the neutral handling balance required for competitive racing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the Kashima Coat and why does it matter for RC shock bodies? — The Kashima Coat is a proprietary surface treatment developed by FOX that creates an ultra-smooth, low-friction finish on shock internals. This coating reduces wear, extends component lifespan, and most importantly, creates noticeably smoother and more consistent damping action throughout the shock's range of motion. For RC car UK enthusiasts, this means your suspension will feel more responsive, more predictable, and will maintain its performance characteristics for significantly longer than standard uncoated shock bodies.
  • Will these FT 12x23 V2 shocks fit my Associated RC model? — These shocks are confirmed compatible with the Team Associated B44.3, RC10B5, and RC10B5M. The 12mm inside diameter and 27.5mm stroke dimensions are specifically engineered for these platforms. However, due to the wide range of Associated models available, we recommend contacting our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop on 01543 577278 to confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle before ordering.
  • Do I need to purchase any additional components to use these shocks? — These are shock bodies only, meaning they come as the aluminium or steel housings without internal damping oil or pistons. If you're replacing damaged or worn shock bodies on an existing setup, you can transfer your existing internal components. If you're upgrading from standard shocks and don't have compatible internals, you'll need to source matching shock internals separately to complete the assembly.
  • How do the FT 12x23 V2 shocks compare to standard shock bodies? — The primary advantage is the genuine FOX Kashima Coat finish, which is a premium feature typically found only on high-end racing-focused suspension components. Standard shock bodies lack this coating, meaning they experience higher internal friction, wear more quickly, and don't deliver the refined damping feel that comes from FOX technology. For serious RC racers and enthusiasts in the UK, the FT 12x23 V2 represents a meaningful performance and durability upgrade that justifies the investment.
  • Are these shock bodies suitable for beginners? — Whilst these components are certainly reliable and well-engineered, they represent a premium upgrade primarily aimed at experienced enthusiasts and competitors. Beginners might find good value in starting with standard shock bodies and upgrading to these FOX units once they've gained more experience and have a deeper appreciation for the performance differences. That said, if you're building a competitive setup or have the budget for premium components from the outset, these shocks will serve you extremely well regardless of skill level.
  • What's the difference between FOX and standard shock technology? — FOX is recognised globally as the leading manufacturer of high-performance suspension components for motorsport applications. Their Kashima Coat technology and engineering expertise result in shock bodies that deliver superior damping consistency, reduced internal friction, and extended lifespan. Standard shock bodies, whilst functional, don't offer the same level of refinement or durability that comes from genuine FOX engineering and premium surface coatings.
