Overview
The Associated RC8B3/RC8B3.1/RC8B3.2 FT Rear Anti-Roll Bar set (AS81139) is an essential tuning component for serious RC buggy enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision handling and competitive performance. This Factory Team upgrade pack provides three carefully engineered rear anti-roll bars in graduated thicknesses (2.2mm, 2.3mm, and 2.4mm), allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's roll stiffness and balance to match varying track conditions. Whether you're racing at your local club track or competing at national events, having the right anti-roll bar selection can make the difference between victory and defeat. Associated is a globally recognised manufacturer of world-class RC buggies and components, and this genuine Factory Team part represents the same engineering excellence used by professional RC racing teams worldwide.
Anti-roll bars, also known as sway bars or anti-sway bars, are critical suspension components that control body roll during cornering and maintain consistent handling balance. The thickness of your anti-roll bar directly affects how your RC buggy behaves through turns—thinner bars reduce roll stiffness whilst thicker bars increase it. By offering three distinct options in a single package, this set eliminates the need to purchase bars separately and gives you the flexibility to adapt your setup to different track surfaces, weather conditions, and racing styles. For UK RC enthusiasts who want to optimise their RC8B3 series buggy without guesswork, this is a must-have upgrade.
This product is compatible with the entire RC8B3 platform including the RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.1e, RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8B4, RC8B4.1, RC8B4.1e, RC8B4e, RC8T3.1, RC8T3.1e, RC8T3.2, and RC8T3.2e models. If you own any of these vehicles and want to unlock their full performance potential, you need this anti-roll bar set in your spares box.
Key Features
- Three graduated anti-roll bar options — The set includes 2.2mm, 2.3mm, and 2.4mm bars, giving you complete flexibility to dial in the perfect handling balance for any track condition without needing to purchase multiple items separately.
- Thinner bars for low and medium-bite tracks — The 2.2mm and 2.3mm options lower the roll centre at the rear of your RC car, reducing overall roll stiffness and providing better handling on tracks with lower grip levels where softer suspension settings are advantageous.
- Thicker bars for high-traction tracks — The 2.4mm option increases roll stiffness at the rear, ideal for high-grip surfaces where you need more aggressive body control and stability during rapid direction changes and acceleration.
- Factory Team engineered precision — Designed and manufactured by Associated to the same exacting standards used in competitive RC racing, ensuring consistent quality and performance you can rely on.
- Easy installation and quick changes — Anti-roll bars are simple suspension upgrades that require minimal tools and technical knowledge to swap, allowing you to experiment with different setups during practice sessions and find your optimal configuration quickly.
- Comprehensive vehicle compatibility — Works across the entire RC8B3 and RC8T3 platform family, including both standard and electric versions, making this a versatile addition to your spares collection.
- Professional-grade tuning option — Even experienced RC bashers and competitors regularly use anti-roll bar changes as a primary tuning tool alongside spring rates and ride height adjustments to fine-tune vehicle balance.
Technical Performance
The Associated AS81139 rear anti-roll bar set represents genuine Factory Team engineering designed specifically for the RC8B3 platform. Anti-roll bars function by resisting body roll during cornering, distributing load more effectively across all four tyres and maintaining consistent grip levels throughout the turn. The relationship between anti-roll bar thickness and performance is direct: thinner bars (2.2mm and 2.3mm) allow greater body roll, which lowers the roll centre and reduces overall stiffness—perfect for tracks with lower grip where you need a softer setup to maintain tyre contact. Conversely, thicker bars (2.4mm) restrict roll movement, raising the roll centre and increasing overall stiffness for high-grip surfaces where aggressive handling and precise body control are essential. This three-option approach gives you the granular tuning control that separates casual RC car users from serious UK racing enthusiasts who understand suspension geometry. The bars are manufactured to precision tolerances ensuring they integrate seamlessly with your RC8B3 series chassis. Because anti-roll bars work in conjunction with your spring rates, ride height, and tyre choice, experimenting with different bar thicknesses is one of the most accessible and effective ways to optimise your vehicle's handling characteristics without requiring extensive mechanical knowledge or expensive upgrades.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is an anti-roll bar and why does my RC buggy need one? — An anti-roll bar (also called a sway bar or anti-sway bar) is a suspension component that reduces body roll during cornering by transferring weight and load more evenly across all four tyres. This improves handling consistency, maintains better tyre contact with the track surface, and helps you maintain control during high-speed cornering. The thicker your anti-roll bar, the more it resists roll; the thinner it is, the more your chassis will roll. This set lets you adjust this fundamental handling characteristic.
- Which anti-roll bar thickness should I use? — Start by matching your track conditions: use the 2.2mm or 2.3mm bars on low or medium-grip tracks where you want a softer setup and more chassis flexibility, and use the 2.4mm bar on high-grip tracks where you need more aggressive body control. You can then fine-tune based on how your RC car feels during practice. Many racers also experiment with different bar thicknesses as part of their overall setup strategy.
- Will this anti-roll bar set fit my RC car? — This set is specifically designed for the RC8B3 and RC8T3 platform family, including RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.1e, RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8B4, RC8B4.1, RC8B4.1e, RC8B4e, RC8T3.1, RC8T3.1e, RC8T3.2, and RC8T3.2e models. If you own any of these vehicles, this set will fit. If you have a different Associated model or brand, you'll need to confirm compatibility with the manufacturer specifications.
- How difficult is it to change anti-roll bars? — Changing anti-roll bars is one of the simplest suspension upgrades you can perform. Most RC cars allow you to simply unbolt the current bar and install the new one without requiring any special tools or technical expertise. This makes it an ideal first tuning modification for newer RC enthusiasts who want to understand how suspension changes affect handling.
- Can I use this with other suspension modifications? — Absolutely. Anti-roll bars work in conjunction with other tuning parameters like spring rates, ride height, shock damping, and tyre choice. Many experienced RC racers adjust anti-roll bars as part of a comprehensive setup strategy to dial in perfect handling for specific track conditions. This set gives you one additional tuning dimension to explore.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes. Whilst anti-roll bars are used by professional RC racing teams, they're also an excellent learning tool for beginners who want to understand how suspension affects vehicle handling. The simplicity of installation and the immediate, noticeable effect on handling make this an ideal first upgrade for anyone learning RC tuning principles.
- How does this compare to the factory standard bars? — This set provides thinner options than standard factory bars, specifically designed to give you softer handling alternatives. The 2.2mm and 2.3mm bars are thinner than typical factory specifications, allowing you to explore softer setups. Some drivers prefer the factory standard bars for higher grip, so having all three options lets you find your personal preference.
