Overview

The Team Associated 66T Spur Gear (AS7663) is a genuine replacement part designed for RC enthusiasts who demand precision engineering and authentic Team Associated components. This 66-tooth spur gear is an essential drivetrain component for maintaining smooth, consistent performance in your RC car UK setup. Whether you're a seasoned competitor fine-tuning your vehicle or a weekend basher maintaining your fleet, this replacement spur gear ensures your final drive operates at peak efficiency.

Built to exacting Team Associated standards, the AS7663 66T spur gear is the perfect choice when you need to refresh worn drivetrain components or tailor your gearing for different track conditions. By pairing this 66-tooth spur with different pinion sizes, you gain precise control over your RC car's gearing ratio, allowing you to optimise performance for varied racing scenarios. This is particularly valuable when you're adjusting your brushless RC car setup or tuning your final drive ratio for competitive advantage.

As an authentic Team Associated spare part, this spur gear offers the reliability and fit quality that owners of genuine RC cars expect. Installation requires care to ensure proper gear mesh and smooth, efficient running, making it an ideal choice for those who understand the importance of quality drivetrain maintenance. If you own an RC car that uses a 66-tooth spur configuration, this genuine part is exactly what you need to keep your vehicle performing at its best.

Key Features

  • 66-tooth spur gear specification — This 66T configuration is precisely engineered for vehicles that require this tooth count, providing the correct final drive ratio when paired with appropriately sized pinion gears to ensure smooth acceleration and top-end performance.
  • Genuine Team Associated part — Manufactured to exact OEM specifications under the official Team Associated part number AS7663, this ensures perfect fitment and reliability compared to aftermarket alternatives that may not maintain proper gear tolerances.
  • Gearing adjustment capability — By installing this 66T spur with different pinion sizes, you can fine-tune your RC car's final drive ratio, allowing you to optimise acceleration for tight, technical tracks or adjust for different racing conditions and terrain types.
  • Drivetrain maintenance component — Use this spur gear to refresh worn drivetrain components that have become damaged through extended use, restoring smooth power delivery and eliminating gear slop that develops over time.
  • Precise engineering for smooth running — Manufactured to Team Associated's exacting standards, proper installation ensures correct gear mesh alignment, which is critical for achieving smooth, efficient running and extending the life of both the spur and pinion gears.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated 66T Spur Gear represents precision engineering in drivetrain component design. This plastic spur gear is manufactured to exact OEM specifications, ensuring that when properly installed with correct gear mesh alignment, it delivers smooth and efficient power transmission to your RC car's wheels. The 66-tooth configuration provides a specific final drive ratio that, when paired with the correct pinion size, allows for optimal performance tuning. Proper installation is essential—the spur gear must be positioned to maintain correct mesh clearance with the pinion gear, typically requiring adjustment of the motor pod or transmission housing to achieve the perfect engagement. When correctly meshed, the drivetrain will operate smoothly without noise, vibration, or power loss. The plastic construction, while lighter than metal alternatives, is engineered to withstand the demanding forces of RC racing when used within appropriate power levels and driving conditions. This genuine Team Associated component is designed for vehicles that use the 66-tooth spur configuration as standard, making it an essential spare part for any serious RC enthusiast running Team Associated vehicles in the UK or worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will the Team Associated 66T spur gear fit my RC car model? — The AS7663 is compatible with Team Associated models that use a standard 66-tooth spur gear configuration. If you own a different brand such as a Maverick Timberwolf SCT or other manufacturer's vehicle, this Team Associated part may not be compatible. We recommend checking your vehicle's documentation or contacting our team at RC Model Shop to verify fitment before purchase.
  • Is the 66T spur gear made from aluminium or plastic? — The Team Associated AS7663 66T spur gear is manufactured from plastic, not aluminium. This plastic construction is engineered to Team Associated's specifications and provides the correct weight, durability and performance characteristics for the applications it's designed for.
  • How does changing the spur gear tooth count affect my RC car's performance? — The spur gear works with your pinion gear to determine your vehicle's final drive ratio. A higher tooth count spur (like this 66T) typically results in lower top speed but better acceleration and torque delivery. Conversely, using a lower tooth count spur increases top speed but reduces acceleration. By swapping between different spur sizes while maintaining the same pinion, you can optimise your gearing for specific track conditions—tight technical courses benefit from higher tooth spurs, while open circuit tracks may favour lower tooth counts.
  • What is proper gear mesh and why does it matter? — Gear mesh refers to the precise spacing between the spur gear and pinion gear when they engage. Correct mesh is critical because it ensures smooth power transmission, minimises noise and vibration, and prevents premature wear on both gears. Improper mesh can result in damaged teeth, inefficient power delivery, and reduced drivetrain lifespan. When installing the AS7663, you may need to adjust your vehicle's motor pod or transmission housing to achieve the perfect engagement.
  • Can I use the 66T spur gear to maintain my existing RC car setup? — Yes, absolutely. If your current spur gear has become worn, damaged, or chipped through extended use, the Team Associated AS7663 is the perfect replacement to restore your drivetrain to peak performance. This is an essential maintenance part for any serious RC enthusiast.
