Overview
The RPM Front A-Arms Black for Associated Pro2 SC10, Trophy Rat and related models represent a significant upgrade over stock suspension components for serious RC enthusiasts and bashers alike. Whether you're running a brushless RC short course truck, trophy truck, or buggy in the UK, these heavy-duty a-arms are engineered to dramatically improve crash survivability and reliability during intense on-track or off-road sessions. RPM has designed these suspension arms specifically for drivers who demand maximum durability without compromising on weight, making them an essential upgrade for anyone looking to reduce downtime and repair costs.
RC car enthusiasts across the UK know that suspension durability is critical to maintaining consistent performance lap after lap. Standard stock a-arms simply aren't built to withstand the punishment that modern brushless RC vehicles deliver. These RPM front a-arms solve that problem by incorporating reinforced material, thicker cross-sections, and intelligent engineering that absorbs impacts rather than transferring them to the chassis. Whether you're a competitive racer pushing your Associated vehicle to its limits or a weekend basher enjoying high-speed runs, upgrading to RPM a-arms will transform your driving experience and extend the lifespan of your RC truck or buggy significantly.
The design philosophy behind these a-arms centres on eliminating the weak points found in original equipment. By increasing material around the hinge pins, removing offset button head screws in favour of in-line designs, and dramatically thickening the support beams, RPM has created a suspension component that simply refuses to break under normal use. For drivers of the Associated Pro2 SC10, Trophy Rat, Pro SC10, Reflex DB10, RC10T5M and RC10SC5M, these a-arms represent the gold standard in suspension upgrades.
Key Features
- Dramatically Increased Material Around Hinge Pins — RPM engineers started by beefing up the critical area where the hinge pins insert into the a-arms, creating a far more robust connection point that resists bending and cracking under impact loads that would damage stock components.
- In-Line Screw Design Instead of Offset Button Heads — The elimination of offset button head screws in favour of in-line fastening is a tried and true method that prevents hinge pins from sliding out during crashes whilst simultaneously improving overall arm strength by removing unnecessary holes that create weak points where cracks initiate.
- Substantially Thicker Support Beams — At their thickest points, RPM front a-arms measure a full 0.4 inches (10.16 millimetres) thick compared to the 0.3 inches (7.62 millimetres) found on stock Associated components, providing dramatically superior resistance to bending, twisting and deformation during aggressive driving and impacts.
- Tapered Design at Hinge Pin Bosses — Rather than maintaining uniform thickness throughout, RPM cleverly tapers the a-arms only slightly at the hinge pin mounting points to match the maximum allowable size of the hinge pin bosses, maintaining structural integrity whilst respecting suspension geometry tolerances.
- Wider Support Beam Cross-Section — Beyond just increased thickness, the lateral width of the a-arm support beams has been expanded for even greater lateral stiffness and impact absorption capability across the entire suspension arm.
- Engineering Grade Nylon Construction — All RPM a-arms are precision-moulded from an advanced blend of engineering-grade nylons that deliver near-indestructible performance you can trust, resisting UV damage, maintaining strength across temperature ranges, and surviving the repeated impacts that degrade lesser materials.
- Sold in Pairs — These front a-arms are supplied as a complete left and right pair, so you can upgrade both sides of your suspension in one purchase and enjoy balanced handling improvements across your entire vehicle.
- Exact Fitment for Multiple Associated Models — Designed specifically to replace stock Associated RPM71015 a-arms, these components fit Pro2 SC10, Trophy Rat, Pro SC10, Reflex DB10, RC10T5M and RC10SC5M without modification, ensuring perfect alignment and suspension geometry.
Technical Performance
The engineering behind RPM's front a-arms reflects years of experience building suspension components for demanding RC applications. By increasing the cross-sectional thickness from 7.62 millimetres to 10.16 millimetres across nearly the entire length of the arm, RPM has created a component that delivers substantially greater resistance to the bending and twisting forces generated during acceleration, braking, and cornering. The strategic use of engineering-grade nylon ensures that these a-arms maintain their structural properties across the temperature ranges experienced during intense driving sessions, whilst also resisting the UV degradation that affects cheaper plastic compounds over time. The removal of offset button head screws in favour of in-line fastening represents a critical engineering decision that eliminates the stress concentration points that cause premature failure in stock components. Instead of creating multiple hole locations that act as crack initiation points, the simplified in-line design distributes loads more evenly throughout the arm structure. For drivers running brushless motors on their Associated vehicles, which deliver significantly higher power outputs than brushed motors, these durability improvements translate directly into fewer broken suspension arms and more consistent performance throughout your driving season. The 0.4-inch maximum thickness specification ensures these a-arms provide maximum stiffness where it matters most, whilst the tapering at the hinge pin bosses maintains proper suspension geometry and compatibility with stock hinge pin sizing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these RPM front a-arms fit my Associated vehicle without modification? — Yes, these a-arms are designed to fit Pro2 SC10, Trophy Rat, Pro SC10, Reflex DB10, RC10T5M and RC10SC5M models running Associated RPM71015 stock a-arms. They mount using existing hardware and require no body modifications for standard vehicles. They replace stock Associated RPM71015 a-arms directly.
- How much more durable are these compared to stock Associated a-arms? — RPM has increased the thickness of the a-arm support beams from the stock 0.3 inches (7.62mm) to a full 0.4 inches (10.16mm) across nearly the entire length, providing significantly greater resistance to bending and impact damage. Additionally, the elimination of offset button head screws removes weak points where cracks typically initiate in stock components, and the increased material around the hinge pins dramatically improves durability at this critical junction point.
- Are these a-arms suitable for both racing and bashing? — Absolutely. Whether you're competing at a UK RC track or enjoying weekend bashing sessions, these a-arms provide the durability you need. The reinforced design reduces transferred impact forces and protects both the a-arms themselves and the rest of your suspension from damage. Competitive racers benefit from reduced maintenance downtime, whilst bashers appreciate the ability to push their vehicles hard without constant breakages.
- What is the difference between RPM a-arms and stock Associated a-arms? — Stock Associated a-arms are relatively thin (0.3 inches) and feature offset button head screws that create weak points and allow hinge pins to slide during crashes. RPM a-arms are 33 percent thicker (0.4 inches), use stronger in-line screw designs, feature increased material around hinge pins, and are moulded from engineering-grade nylon that provides superior impact resistance and durability compared to the standard plastic used in stock components.
- Do I need any special tools to install these a-arms? — No, these a-arms mount using stock, existing hardware on your Associated vehicle. Simply remove the old a-arms and install the new RPM versions using your current screws and fasteners. They are a direct replacement with no special tools or modifications required.
- Will these improve my RC truck's handling? — By upgrading to significantly stiffer a-arms that resist flex and deformation, you'll notice improved suspension consistency and more predictable handling characteristics during aggressive cornering and high-speed runs. The thicker construction reduces compliance in the suspension, which many drivers prefer for competitive racing applications.
