Key Features

  • 100-Turn Configuration — This brushed motor features a 100-turn armature design that prioritises high torque output over maximum speed, making it the perfect choice for RC applications that demand strong pulling power and consistent acceleration rather than outright top speed. This specification makes the motor ideal for rock crawling, trail driving, and technical off-road RC work.
  • High Torque Output — The primary advantage of the 100-turn configuration is its ability to generate substantial torque across the RPM range, enabling your RC vehicle to power through obstacles, climb steep inclines, and maintain traction even under demanding load conditions. This characteristic is essential for serious off-road RC enthusiasts.
  • Brushed Motor Technology — Unlike brushless alternatives, this brushed motor design offers simplicity, proven reliability, and cost-effectiveness whilst still delivering impressive performance. Brushed motors are well-suited to RC applications where straightforward operation and easy maintenance are valued.
  • ROC Hobby Quality Engineering — Built by ROC Hobby, a recognised manufacturer in the RC hobby market, this motor undergoes rigorous quality control and testing to ensure it meets the performance standards expected by UK RC enthusiasts. You can rely on genuine ROC Hobby engineering.
  • Universal RC Compatibility — The standard motor size and design allow this motor to fit into a wide variety of RC vehicles, including Atlas and Katana models, as well as many other platforms that accept standard brushed motors. This versatility makes it a practical choice for builders with multiple RC projects.
  • Affordable Performance Solution — At its competitive price point, the ROC Hobby 100T motor offers exceptional value for money, delivering genuine performance and reliability without the premium pricing of exotic alternatives. It's an accessible upgrade option for RC enthusiasts working within a budget.

Technical Performance

The ROC Hobby Atlas/Katana 100T High Torque Motor represents a straightforward yet effective approach to electric RC motor design. The 100-turn armature configuration is the defining specification that shapes this motor's performance characteristics. This turn count is specifically calibrated to maximise torque output, making it particularly effective in RC applications where pulling power, hill-climbing ability, and obstacle negotiation are more important than achieving maximum speed. The brushed commutation system ensures reliable power delivery across the RPM range, with consistent torque characteristics that make throttle control predictable and responsive. The motor's construction utilises proven brushed motor technology with quality windings and commutator design that ensures durability through extended use. Built to ROC Hobby's recognised manufacturing standards, this motor delivers the performance that serious RC builders expect. The straightforward electrical interface accepts standard battery connections used across the RC hobby, and the motor is designed to work with common RC electronic speed controllers (ESCs) and battery configurations found in typical RC setups. Whether you're powering a dedicated rock crawler, upgrading an existing trail truck, or building a custom RC project from scratch, this motor provides the torque-focused performance that defines high-capability off-road RC vehicles. The compact size and standard motor mounting points ensure it integrates seamlessly into platforms like the Atlas and Katana, whilst remaining compatible with numerous other RC models that accept standard brushed motors.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a 100-turn motor and a lower-turn brushed motor? — The turn count directly affects motor characteristics: a 100-turn motor prioritises torque output and lower RPM performance, making it ideal for crawling, climbing, and technical driving where pulling power matters more than top speed. Lower-turn motors (such as 55-turn or 65-turn variants) would deliver higher maximum speeds but lower torque. The 100-turn configuration makes this motor perfect for RC applications demanding responsive power delivery and strong acceleration from a standstill.
  • Is this motor suitable for my RC crawler or trail truck? — Yes, the high-torque characteristics of the 100-turn configuration make this motor exceptionally well-suited to rock crawlers, trail trucks, and other off-road RC vehicles that rely on consistent pulling power and obstacle-climbing ability. If your RC project prioritises technical terrain navigation and torque delivery over maximum speed, this is an excellent motor choice.
  • Can I use this motor with my existing RC speed controller and battery? — The ROC Hobby 100T motor uses standard brushed motor electrical connections and is designed to work with common RC electronic speed controllers and battery configurations used across the hobby. However, you should verify that your ESC is rated for brushed motors (some modern ESCs are brushless-only) and that your battery voltage and capacity are appropriate for your specific application. Consult your RC vehicle's documentation or contact our team for guidance on compatibility with your specific setup.
  • What models does this motor fit? — The motor is designed for ROC Hobby Atlas and Katana models, as indicated by its name. It also maintains standard motor mounting points that allow it to fit many other RC vehicles accepting standard brushed motors. Before purchasing, verify that your specific RC model accepts motors with this particular size and mounting configuration.
  • Is this a genuine ROC Hobby product? — Yes, when you purchase from RC Model Shop, you are buying a genuine ROC Hobby product with an EAN code 5056135736197, ensuring authenticity and quality assurance backing from the manufacturer.
  • What maintenance does this brushed motor require? — Brushed motors are known for their simplicity and straightforward maintenance. Occasionally inspect the commutator for wear and ensure the brushes make good contact. Keep the motor clean and dry. Unlike brushless motors, brushed motors have fewer complex components, making them easier to maintain in the field.
