Key Features

  • 3270 Frame Size Inrunner Design — This motor features a proven inrunner configuration that is optimised for EDF installations, providing compact dimensions whilst delivering substantial power output. The inrunner design is particularly well-suited to ducted fan applications where space efficiency and direct drive compatibility are critical considerations.
  • 2000KV Rating — The 2000KV specification means this motor will spin at 2000 revolutions per minute for every volt applied. This KV rating is specifically calibrated for 80mm EDF jets, providing the optimal rotational speed range to drive high-performance 12-blade ducted fans with maximum efficiency and minimal vibration.
  • High Torque Output — Inrunner motors like the 3270-KV2000 are engineered to produce excellent torque characteristics, enabling rapid acceleration of the EDF fan and delivering the thrust necessary for vertical climbs, aggressive aerobatic maneuvers, and sustained high-speed flight.
  • Brushless Technology — This motor utilises modern brushless motor technology, which eliminates brush wear and maintenance requirements whilst delivering superior efficiency compared to older brushed motor designs. Brushless motors run cooler, last longer, and require significantly less maintenance over their operational lifetime.
  • Compatibility with FMS EDF Jets — The 3270-KV2000 is engineered to work seamlessly with FMS 80mm EDF aircraft platforms, having been tested and validated across multiple popular jet models in the FMS range. This ensures proven fitment and optimal performance.
  • Reliable Performance in Aerobatic Flight — FMS motors are designed to deliver consistent, predictable power delivery during all flight regimes, from gentle cruising through to aggressive aerobatic maneuvers, giving pilots confidence in their aircraft's responsiveness and reliability.

Technical Performance

The FMS PREDATOR 3270-KV2000 motor is a high-performance brushless inrunner engineered specifically for 80mm EDF applications. The 3270 frame size provides an optimal balance between power density and compact installation requirements typical of ducted fan aircraft. At 2000KV, this motor delivers approximately 2000 RPM per volt of battery voltage applied, making it perfectly calibrated for driving the high-speed 12-blade ducted fans found in modern 80mm EDF sport jets. When paired with appropriate lithium polymer (LiPo) battery packs in the 6S (22.2V) configuration, this motor will deliver the rotational speed and torque necessary to achieve impressive performance across the entire flight envelope. The inrunner configuration provides excellent torque characteristics that allow the fan to spool up rapidly when throttle is increased, whilst maintaining smooth, predictable power delivery throughout the flight. The motor's brushless design ensures minimal electrical noise, reduced electromagnetic interference, and exceptional efficiency compared to brush-type alternatives. Build quality is guaranteed by FMS's professional R&D team and manufacturing expertise, with every motor subjected to quality control procedures that meet international standards. For pilots in the UK and worldwide seeking a reliable, powerful motor for their 80mm EDF jet, the 3270-KV2000 represents outstanding value and proven engineering excellence.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the KV rating and why does it matter for my 80mm EDF jet? — The 2000KV rating determines how many revolutions per minute the motor will achieve for each volt of battery voltage supplied. For 80mm EDF applications, 2000KV is calibrated to deliver the optimal fan rotational speed when powered by 6S LiPo batteries (22.2V nominal). This ensures the ducted fan operates in its optimal efficiency range, producing maximum static thrust whilst minimising power consumption and heat generation.
  • Can I use this motor with 8S batteries instead of 6S? — The 3270-KV2000 is specifically optimised for 6S (22.2V) battery operation. Using 8S (29.6V) batteries would result in excessive RPM, potentially damaging the motor and fan assembly. If you require an 8S-compatible 80mm EDF motor, FMS offers the 4075-KV1500 inrunner motor which is specifically rated for higher voltage operation.
  • Is this an inrunner or outrunner motor? — This is an inrunner motor, meaning the copper windings remain stationary whilst the permanent magnet rotor spins inside the stator. Inrunner motors are preferred for EDF applications because they provide excellent torque characteristics and allow for direct drive configurations typical of ducted fan installations, unlike outrunner motors which would require gearing.
  • What ESC rating do I need to use with this motor? — For 80mm EDF aircraft powered by 6S LiPo batteries, an Electronic Speed Controller rated for 80-120A continuous current is appropriate. The exact requirement depends on your aircraft's weight, intended flying style, and battery capacity. FMS typically pairs this motor with 120A ESCs in their complete EDF jet packages. Always ensure your ESC supports the same battery voltage configuration (6S LiPo) and has adequate cooling for sustained flight.
  • How long will this motor last? — Brushless motors like the 3270-KV2000 offer exceptional longevity compared to brushed motors. With proper maintenance — keeping the motor clean and dry, avoiding water ingress, and operating within rated specifications — this motor should provide thousands of flights of reliable service. FMS's commitment to quality manufacturing ensures that every motor meets strict durability standards.
  • What aircraft can I use this motor with? — The 3270-KV2000 is engineered for 80mm EDF jet platforms. It is used in various FMS 80mm EDF models and is compatible with other similarly-specified 80mm EDF airframes from quality manufacturers. Always verify that your chosen airframe is rated for this motor's power output and that the mounting hardware is compatible.
  • Is this suitable for beginner RC pilots? — This motor is designed for intermediate to advanced RC pilots with previous EDF jet flying experience. Operating 80mm EDF jets requires solid flight control skills, understanding of LiPo battery safety and maintenance, and familiarity with high-speed aircraft handling. Beginners should start with smaller, more forgiving aircraft before progressing to EDF jets of this performance level.
  • Does this motor come with a warranty? — FMS products are backed by professional support and quality assurance. Specific warranty terms vary by retailer and region. Contact RC Model Shop for full warranty and support information regarding your PREDATOR 3270-KV2000 motor.
  • What battery capacity should I use? — For 80mm EDF operations, 6S LiPo batteries with 5000-6000mAh capacity and 45C discharge rating are standard. This capacity provides approximately 3 minutes of flight time depending on flight style and aircraft weight. Higher capacity batteries offer slightly longer flight times but add weight, whilst lower capacity packs reduce weight but shorten flight duration.
