Overview

The METHOD METRIC NUT DRIVER (5.0MM) MTD2008 is an essential tool for any serious RC enthusiast in the UK who wants to keep their RC car, truck, or buggy running smoothly. Whether you're preparing your vehicle for competition, performing routine maintenance at the track, or simply tightening hardware during assembly, this dedicated 5.0mm nut driver provides the precision and reliability you need. Method RC has engineered this tool specifically for the demands of RC hobby work, where accuracy and durability matter just as much as they do in your vehicle itself.

If you own RC cars, RC trucks, buggies, or any other RC vehicle, you'll quickly discover that having the right tools in your pit box is just as important as having the right spare parts. This 5.0mm metric nut driver is colour coded and laser etched for instant identification, so you'll never waste time searching for the right size when you need to make quick adjustments at the track or at home. The ergonomic handle design sets it apart from basic, uncomfortable drivers that leave your hand cramping after extended use.

RC Model Shop stocks this essential tool because we know that proper maintenance and correct fastening of 5.0mm hex nuts is crucial for reliable RC performance. A loose nut can cause suspension geometry to shift, wheel wobble, or worse—catastrophic failure during a race or bash session. The METHOD METRIC NUT DRIVER ensures that your 5.0mm hardware stays exactly where you set it, giving you the confidence to push your RC vehicle to its limits.

Key Features

  • Colour Coded and Laser Etched — Each nut driver is colour coded and has the size laser etched onto the handle, making identification instant and foolproof, even in poor lighting conditions or when you're working quickly at the track. This eliminates the frustration of grabbing the wrong size and having to swap tools mid-adjustment.
  • Metric 5.0mm Size — Specifically designed for fastening and loosening 5.0mm hex nuts, which are extremely common across RC car, truck, and buggy applications. This dedicated size means you get a perfect fit every time, reducing the risk of stripping or damaging your hardware.
  • Ergonomic Handle Design — The handle has been thoughtfully engineered to fit your hand more comfortably than smaller, cheaper drivers on the market. More importantly, it provides excellent grip even when your hands are slick from oil and grease, which is inevitable during extended pit sessions.
  • Professional Build Quality — Method RC tools are designed to be easier to use than most alternatives, reflecting the brand's commitment to quality and user experience. This isn't just a budget tool—it's built for serious RC enthusiasts who demand reliability.
  • Pit Box Essential — A practical addition to any pit box or workbench, this driver helps keep your RC hardware secure and correctly tightened, ensuring consistent performance and preventing loosening due to vibration during high-speed running.

Technical Performance

The METHOD METRIC NUT DRIVER is engineered with precision engineering that reflects Method RC's understanding of RC maintenance requirements. The 5.0mm socket size is perfectly calibrated to fit metric hex nuts commonly used across 1/10 scale and other RC vehicles, providing a snug fit that grips firmly without risk of slipping or damaging the nut. The handle construction combines durability with comfort, using materials and ergonomic shaping that allow extended use without hand fatigue. The colour coding and laser etching provide permanent identification that won't fade or wear off over time, unlike painted markings that deteriorate with regular use. This is a tool built to last through countless pit sessions, maintenance jobs, and track days, making it an outstanding investment for any RC car, truck, or buggy owner who wants to maintain their vehicle to the highest standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size hex nuts does the METHOD METRIC NUT DRIVER work with? — This driver is specifically designed for 5.0mm metric hex nuts, which are widely used in RC cars, trucks, and buggies for suspension components, wheel collars, and numerous other fastening applications. It provides a perfect fit that prevents slipping or damaging the nut.
  • Why is having the right nut driver important for RC vehicles? — RC vehicles rely on hundreds of small fasteners that experience constant vibration during high-speed running. Using the correct size nut driver ensures you can tighten these fasteners to the proper tension without stripping them, and it allows you to make adjustments confidently at the track or during maintenance.
  • Is the METHOD METRIC NUT DRIVER suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whether you're just getting into the RC hobby or you're an experienced competitor, this nut driver is essential. The colour coding and laser etching make it beginner-friendly, while the ergonomic design and professional build quality satisfy experienced users who work on their vehicles regularly.
  • What makes the ergonomic handle important? — Many budget nut drivers have small, uncomfortable handles that cause hand fatigue during extended use. The METHOD METRIC NUT DRIVER's ergonomic design allows you to work comfortably for longer, and the textured grip maintains security even when your hands are wet or covered in oil and grease from vehicle maintenance.
  • Will this driver work on all my RC vehicles? — If your RC car, truck, buggy, or other vehicle uses 5.0mm metric hex nuts—which most popular brands do—then this driver will work perfectly. It's compatible with fasteners found on suspension components, wheels, and numerous other assemblies across most RC applications.
  • How does the colour coding and laser etching help? — Unlike painted markings that wear off, the laser etching is permanent. The colour coding lets you identify the 5.0mm driver instantly, even in dim lighting or when you're working quickly at the track, saving you time and frustration when you need to make rapid adjustments.
