Overview
The Louise RC B-Pioneer 1/8 FR/RR Soft Hex 17mm Spoke Black tyres represent professional-grade competition rubber designed specifically for demanding 1/8 scale off-road buggy racing. Whether you're a serious competitor pushing for lap records or an experienced basher who demands reliability and grip in equal measure, these pre-mounted and glued tyre sets deliver the performance characteristics that have made Louise RC a recognised leader in the RC tyre market across the UK and internationally.
This is a complete tyre and wheel solution that arrives ready to bolt straight onto your 1/8 buggy. The tyres come pre-glued to professional-grade black nylon composite wheels using Louise RC's proprietary bonding process, eliminating the uncertainty and mess of home gluing whilst guaranteeing perfect adhesion under the extreme forces generated during high-speed cornering, aggressive acceleration and hard landings. If you're running an ARRMA Typhon, Associated RC8 or DB8, Losi 8ight, Mugen MBX, Team Corally Python XP, X-Ray XB8 or any compatible 1/8 buggy with a 17mm wheel hex adapter, these tyres will transform your handling and grip.
Louise RC has invested decades in perfecting rubber compound formulations and wheel engineering specifically for competitive RC racing. The B-Pioneer soft compound in this set strikes the perfect balance between aggressive grip and predictable wear characteristics, making these tyres equally at home on clay, carpet or artificial track surfaces. The racing-grade rubber builds heat as you drive, progressively increasing grip during a run—a characteristic that rewards smooth, consistent driving lines and makes these tyres genuinely competitive.
Key Features
- Pre-mounted and factory-glued — These tyres arrive fully bonded to the wheels using Louise RC's precision cyanoacrylate adhesive system, eliminating the need for home gluing and guaranteeing perfect, equal glue distribution that will withstand the enormous lateral and vertical forces generated during competitive off-road racing.
- Racing-grade soft compound — The soft rubber compound is specifically engineered to provide maximum grip while maintaining controlled wear characteristics across multiple heat cycles, making it ideal for serious competitors who demand predictable performance across a full racing season.
- Professional wheel engineering — Louise RC wheels are manufactured from high-quality nylon composites charged with glass fibre, providing the exact balance of flexibility and structural strength required to absorb impacts from jumps, rough terrain and aggressive cornering without deforming or cracking.
- Moulded foam inserts — The tyres incorporate specially selected pre-formed foam inserts engineered to precise density specifications, providing consistent tyre dampening and form stability that maintains the tyre profile under load and through temperature changes.
- Verified quality control — Every tyre set undergoes spinning and pulling tests at Louise RC's factory to verify perfect adhesion between tyre and wheel, ensuring no separation will occur during your racing session.
- 17mm hex fitment — The universal 17mm hex adapter mounting system ensures compatibility with all major 1/8 buggy platforms including ARRMA, Losi, Mugen, Team Corally, Associated, X-Ray, Absima, Carson, Hobao and Sworkz models.
- Front and rear usage — This set includes two complete wheels suitable for both front and rear positions, allowing you to maintain consistent grip characteristics across all four corners of your chassis.
- Temperature-building grip — These racing tyres feature progressive grip development as they reach operating temperature, rewarding smooth, consistent driving and making them genuinely competitive for lap timing and race runs.
Technical Performance
Louise RC's engineering approach to wheel and tyre development reflects two fundamental principles: the tyre must absorb enormous forces without failure, and it must deliver predictable, repeatable grip. The B-Pioneer soft compound represents the result of intensive research into rubber formulation, with the racing-grade rubber specifically selected to build grip as it approaches operating temperature. The wheel construction uses Dupont-engineered nylon composite materials that have been specifically developed for Louise RC—not generic plastic, but precision engineering compounds that provide the exact balance between structural rigidity (to resist deformation under cornering loads and jumps) and controlled flexibility (to absorb impact and maintain traction). The moulded foam inserts are crucial to performance: Louise RC selects insert density and geometry specifically to maintain tyre profile under load whilst allowing natural cushioning that keeps the tyre planted during rough terrain running. The factory gluing process represents one of Louise RC's greatest achievements in manufacturing consistency. Rather than relying on manual application, Louise RC uses precision dosing machines that apply exactly the same amount of cyanoacrylate adhesive to every tyre. The process includes surface grinding and degreasing of both the wheel bead and tyre rings, creating mechanical and chemical bonding that ensures zero separation during aggressive driving. Each tyre passes spinning and pulling tests before leaving the factory. The specification delivers a tyre diameter of 118mm (width 42mm) that provides the optimal contact patch for 1/8 scale buggy racing, with a 0mm offset that works with standard 1/8 buggy suspension geometry. Whether you're racing on clay, artificial track or carpet surfaces, these tyres deliver the combination of grip, predictability and durability that characterises professional-grade RC racing consumables.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these tyres fit my 1/8 buggy? — These tyres feature 17mm hex adapters and are confirmed compatible with all major 1/8 off-road buggies including ARRMA Typhon, Associated RC8 and RC8T, Losi 8ight and 8ight-X, Mugen MBX6 and MBX7, Team Corally Python XP, X-Ray XB8, Absima Stoke, Carson Virus and Specter, Hobao Hyper VS, and Sworkz S35. Louise RC publishes a detailed tyre-wheel compatibility chart—please refer to that to verify fitment with your specific model if it's not listed above.
- Why are pre-glued tyres better than gluing them myself? — Louise RC uses a precision automated gluing process that applies exactly the same amount of cyanoacrylate adhesive to every single tyre, guaranteeing perfect, uniform bonding. The process includes surface grinding and degreasing of both wheel and tyre bead, creating superior adhesion that will withstand the extreme forces of competitive racing. Most home gluing approaches result in inconsistent adhesive application, air pockets, or insufficient cure time—pre-glued tyres from Louise RC eliminate these variables entirely and guarantee reliability.
- What's the difference between soft and super-soft compounds? — Louise RC offers both soft and super-soft racing compounds. The soft compound in this B-Pioneer set provides an excellent balance between aggressive grip and controlled wear, making it ideal for most racing conditions and track surfaces. Super-soft compounds offer maximum grip but wear faster and are typically chosen for qualifying rounds or short sprint races where maximum traction justifies the increased consumption. For general racing and practice, soft compound offers better value and more predictable performance across multiple heat cycles.
- Do these tyres need running in? — Yes, we always recommend running a few laps before pushing for competitive times. Racing tyres build grip as they reach their ideal operating temperature, so you'll notice grip progressively increasing through the first few laps as the rubber reaches temperature. This progressive grip development is characteristic of professional racing compounds and actually rewards smooth, consistent driving technique.
- What tyre specifications should I know? — The B-Pioneer set delivers a tyre diameter of 118mm (measured) with a width of 42mm, mounted on wheels with a bead diameter of 83mm (3.3 inches). The complete assembly weighs 138 grams per wheel. These specifications are optimised for 1/8 scale buggy racing geometry and provide the ideal contact patch and profile for competitive performance.
- Are these suitable for beginners? — These are professional-grade racing tyres designed for competitive driving, not beginner equipment. Beginners might find that the grip characteristics and performance expectations of racing-grade tyres are better suited to drivers who already understand racing lines, throttle control and smooth steering inputs. For new drivers, Louise RC offers other tyre options with different compound characteristics that may be more forgiving during the learning phase.
- What wheel offset does this set use? — These wheels feature 0mm offset, which is the standard specification for 1/8 buggy racing platforms and ensures compatibility with typical suspension geometry and ride height requirements.
