Overview
The HoBao Hyper GTB/GTS Rear Shock Spring represents a premium replacement suspension component designed specifically for serious RC enthusiasts running HoBao Hyper GTB and GTS models. These rear shock springs are essential wear items that maintain your RC car UK's suspension geometry and handling characteristics, ensuring consistent performance whether you're racing competitively or enjoying casual weekend bashing. As an authorised spare part from HoBao, this component is engineered to the exact specifications your vehicle requires, making it an indispensable addition to any RC car maintenance kit.
Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to optimise your RC buggy's performance on UK tracks and terrain. The rear shock springs directly influence your vehicle's ride height, stability during cornering, and how the chassis responds to bumps and jumps. By choosing genuine HoBao replacement springs, you're investing in consistent, predictable handling that matches your driving style and track conditions. Whether you're preparing for competitive racing or simply maintaining your brushless RC car to peak condition, quality suspension components like these are non-negotiable for serious hobbyists.
This two-pack of rear shock springs provides excellent value for money, allowing you to maintain spare sets for different track conditions or simply keep backup components on hand. The HoBao Hyper platform has earned a respected reputation in the RC community for its robust engineering and performance-oriented design, and genuine HoBao spares ensure you're maintaining that quality standard every time you service your vehicle.
Key Features
- Genuine HoBao OEM Component — These are original manufacturer spare parts, ensuring perfect fitment and performance characteristics that match your Hyper GTB or GTS chassis without any compromise or compatibility issues.
- 50mm Length Specification — The precisely calibrated 50mm dimension ensures optimal suspension geometry and ride height, maintaining the intended handling characteristics that HoBao engineers designed into your vehicle.
- 2kgf/cm Spring Rate — This specific spring stiffness rating balances suspension compliance with stability, providing responsive handling for both competitive racing and recreational driving across various UK track surfaces and terrain types.
- Two Springs per Pack — You receive a pair of rear shock springs, allowing you to service both rear shocks simultaneously or maintain spare sets for different track conditions without needing multiple purchases.
- Suspension Performance Tuning — Upgrading or replacing shock springs is one of the most effective suspension tuning modifications, directly improving cornering speed, jump landing stability and overall chassis control for RC cars.
- Wear Item Replacement — Springs gradually lose their effective spring rate through extended use; these replacement springs restore your suspension to factory specification and performance standards.
Technical Performance
The HoBao Hyper GTB/GTS Rear Shock Spring exemplifies precision engineering in RC suspension design. At 50mm in length with a 2kgf/cm spring constant, this component is specifically calibrated to work in harmony with the Hyper platform's suspension geometry and shock absorber design. The spring rate measurement of 2kgf/cm indicates a moderate stiffness that provides the suspension with sufficient compliance to absorb track imperfections whilst maintaining structural rigidity during aggressive cornering and acceleration. HoBao's manufacturing process ensures consistent material properties across every spring, eliminating the performance inconsistencies that can occur with aftermarket alternatives. The spring material is engineered to withstand the repeated compression and extension cycles inherent in RC racing, whether you're driving on dusty outdoor UK tracks, indoor carpet circuits, or tarmac courses. These springs work in conjunction with your vehicle's shock absorbers and chassis geometry to control ride height, maintain tyre contact patch consistency, and optimise weight transfer during acceleration and deceleration. For drivers running brushless RC systems with high-performance ESC and motor combinations, quality suspension components like these become even more critical, as the increased power delivery demands responsive, reliable suspension geometry to translate that performance into speed and control.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between this rear shock spring and front shock springs? — Front and rear shock springs have different spring rates and lengths tailored to each end's specific load requirements and handling characteristics. The rear springs manage the vehicle's weight distribution under acceleration and braking, whilst front springs control steering response and front-end stability. Ensure you order the correct springs for your specific needs.
- How often should I replace shock springs on my RC car? — Spring replacement intervals depend on driving intensity and frequency. Competitive racers might replace springs every few months of regular use, whilst recreational drivers might change them annually or when they notice handling deterioration. Springs gradually lose their spring rate through metal fatigue, resulting in increased ride height and reduced suspension response.
- Will these springs work on my HoBao Hyper buggy? — These springs are specifically designed for HoBao Hyper GTB and GTS models. The GTB and GTS share compatible suspension geometry for these components. Check your specific model documentation or contact a specialist retailer to confirm compatibility with your exact chassis variant.
- What is spring rate and why does 2kgf/cm matter? — Spring rate measures how much force is required to compress a spring by one centimetre. A 2kgf/cm rate means 2 kilograms-force is needed to compress the spring 1 centimetre. Higher rates create stiffer suspension for high-grip tracks or heavy drivers; lower rates provide softer suspension for low-grip surfaces. This 2kgf/cm rate suits general-purpose racing and bashing.
- Can I mix different spring rates on my RC vehicle? — Mixing different spring rates front and rear, or left and right, is a legitimate tuning technique used by competitive drivers to fine-tune handling characteristics. However, using completely mismatched springs will create unpredictable handling. Consult tuning guides specific to your HoBao model for recommended configurations.
- Are genuine HoBao springs worth the extra cost? — Yes, genuine manufacturer springs ensure precise spring rates, consistent material properties, and perfect fitment. Counterfeit or generic springs may have inconsistent stiffness, poor longevity, and compatibility issues that compromise your vehicle's performance and reliability.
