Overview
The HoBao HYPER SS/VS/VS2/CAGE/MT Shock Bladder (4) H90048 is an essential suspension component for serious RC enthusiasts running HoBao's legendary 1/8 scale buggies and truggies. These replacement shock bladders are precision-engineered to maintain optimal damping performance across a wide range of RC models, making them a crucial spare part for anyone invested in competitive RC car racing or weekend bashing in the UK. Whether you're preparing for an off-road competition or simply maintaining your RC buggy collection, these shock bladders ensure your suspension system delivers consistent, predictable handling characteristics lap after lap.
HoBao has built a reputation for manufacturing robust, high-performance RC vehicles that can withstand the rigours of both nitro and electric powertrains. The suspension system is where this engineering excellence truly shines, and replacement bladders like these H90048 units are designed to keep your rig performing at peak efficiency. If you own any of HoBao's Hyper series models—whether it's the SS, Cage, VS2, or MT variants—having spare shock bladders on hand is simply part of responsible RC car ownership. These components wear over time through repeated impacts, temperature cycling, and pressure changes, so maintaining a supply of quality replacements ensures your suspension geometry remains true and your handling remains sharp.
For RC hobbyists in the UK seeking reliable replacement parts from an authorised dealer, the H90048 shock bladders represent genuine HoBao components that meet the manufacturer's exacting standards. This four-pack provides excellent value and ensures you have backups ready whenever your current bladders require servicing or replacement during maintenance intervals.
Key Features
- Pack of four shock bladders — This four-pack provides excellent value and gives you multiple replacement sets to maintain your RC buggy fleet or to have spares ready when you need them, reducing downtime between runs and competitions.
- Compatible with multiple HoBao Hyper models — These bladders are engineered to fit seamlessly across the HoBao Hyper SS, Hyper VS, Hyper VS2, Hyper Cage, and Hyper MT platforms, making them a versatile choice if you run multiple HoBao vehicles.
- Genuine manufacturer component — As official HoBao parts, these shock bladders are manufactured to OEM specifications and tolerances, ensuring they deliver the precise damping characteristics your suspension was designed to provide.
- Maintains suspension performance — Fresh shock bladders restore your suspension system's ability to manage bumps, jumps, and high-speed cornering with the responsiveness and consistency you enjoyed when your RC buggy was new.
- Essential maintenance item — Shock bladders are wear items that gradually lose their elasticity through repeated compression and temperature exposure, making periodic replacement a standard part of RC buggy maintenance.
- Direct OEM replacement — Unlike aftermarket alternatives, these genuine HoBao bladders ensure perfect fitment and optimal performance without modification or adaptation to your existing shocks.
Technical Performance
The HoBao HYPER shock bladder system represents sophisticated suspension engineering designed for the demands of 1/8 scale RC buggy and truggy competition. Shock bladders serve a critical function in off-road RC vehicles: they maintain consistent oil pressure within the shock absorber under varying conditions, preventing cavitation and foaming that would otherwise compromise damping quality. As these precision components age through countless compression cycles and exposure to temperature extremes typical of UK RC racing conditions—from damp winter tracks to sun-baked summer venues—the bladder material gradually loses its elasticity and ability to maintain proper fluid dynamics. The HoBao Hyper series is engineered to handle both nitro-powered engines generating significant mechanical stress and high-amperage brushless electric systems producing intense acceleration forces, making quality suspension maintenance absolutely critical. These replacement bladders restore the hydraulic integrity of your shock absorbers, which directly impacts your vehicle's handling balance, stability through high-speed corners, and comfort over rough terrain. By maintaining fresh shock bladders, you ensure that your suspension geometry remains predictable and your vehicle responds consistently to driver inputs, which is essential whether you're competing at local RC tracks or enjoying casual recreational bashing. The engineering precision required to manufacture these bladders to exact HoBao specifications means that only genuine OEM replacements should be trusted to maintain your vehicle's performance envelope and longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which HoBao models are compatible with the H90048 shock bladders? — These shock bladders fit the entire HoBao Hyper lineup, including the HB-VTE2-V2 (1/7 Extreme VTE2-V2 On-Road Electric), HB-VTE2-8 (Extreme VTE2 1/8 On Road EP Roller), HB-8SCE (Hyper 8 Short Course), both Hyper Cage Buggy RTR variants (HBCB-C28B and HBCB-C28RG), the Hyper Cage Buggy Electric Roller (HBCBE), Hyper Cage Truggy Electric Rolling Chassis (HBCTEB), all Hyper SS variants including the C28B, C21B, SSe models, the SS Truggy (HBSST-C28RG), SS Brushless Truggy (HB-SSTE-C150RG), and the entire VS2 range including electric and nitro-powered versions. This broad compatibility makes them an excellent universal spare for any HoBao Hyper owner.
- How often should I replace shock bladders on my RC buggy? — The replacement interval depends on your usage intensity and conditions. Competitive racers typically replace bladders every 10-15 hours of run time or whenever they notice a loss of suspension responsiveness. Recreational bashers might go 20-30 hours between replacements. Storage in extreme temperatures can also accelerate bladder degradation, so UK racers dealing with seasonal temperature swings should inspect bladders regularly. Having a four-pack ensures you can perform this maintenance without long supply delays.
- What's the difference between shock bladders and shock springs? — Shock bladders are the internal pressure maintenance components inside the shock absorber itself, whilst shock springs provide the initial suspension stiffness. Bladders prevent cavitation and maintain oil pressure during shock compression, making them invisible but essential to proper damping. Springs, by contrast, are the external components you can see. Both require periodic maintenance, and this product addresses bladder replacement specifically.
- Will these bladders work with both nitro and electric HoBao Hyper models? — Yes, the suspension system in HoBao Hyper models is fundamentally identical whether the vehicle is powered by a nitro engine or brushless electric motor. The shock bladders themselves have no power-source dependence and work equally well across the entire HoBao Hyper product range.
- How do I know when my shock bladders need replacement? — Signs of worn shock bladders include reduced damping response, a more bouncy or unpredictable feel through bumps, increased diving under acceleration, and suspension that feels less progressive through its travel. If your RC buggy handled beautifully when new but now feels vague or unpredictable over rough terrain, bladder replacement is likely the solution.
