Available now at RC Model Shop, these suspension springs represent genuine OEM parts that ensure perfect fitment and reliable performance. If you're serious about RC racing or weekend bashing with your RC car in the UK, upgrading or maintaining your suspension with quality components like these HoBao springs is essential for achieving consistent lap times and maximising your vehicle's potential.
Key Features
- 17mm Big Bore Shock Compatibility — These springs are specifically designed for HoBao 17mm big bore shocks, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal suspension geometry for your RC vehicle, which means you can be confident they will work flawlessly on compatible models without any modifications or adapter requirements.
- Firm Spring Rate of 0.9kgf/cm — The 0.9kgf/cm stiffness rating provides a firm response that delivers improved handling precision and body control during aggressive driving, allowing drivers to experience better feedback through the steering and more predictable weight transfer during cornering manoeuvres.
- 66mm Length Specification — The precise 66mm length ensures proper suspension geometry and ride height when installed in your shock absorber, maintaining the correct angle for the wishbones and ensuring your RC buggy or car maintains optimal chassis balance.
- White Finish for Easy Identification — The white colour makes it simple to identify the spring rate at a glance, which is particularly useful when you're experimenting with different spring combinations or storing multiple sets for various track conditions and driving styles.
- Supplied as a Pair — You receive a matched pair of springs, providing consistent suspension characteristics across both front shocks and ensuring symmetrical handling without unwanted pulling or bias to one side during acceleration or braking.
- Genuine OEM Component — As an authentic HoBao manufacturing part, these springs are produced to exact specifications and use quality materials that resist fatigue and maintain their spring rate over extended use, unlike counterfeit or low-quality alternatives.
- Professional-Grade Performance — Whether you're tuning a competition RC buggy UK setup or maintaining your weekend basher, these springs allow you to dial in the exact suspension characteristics you need for your specific driving style and track conditions.
Technical Performance
The HoBao 17mm Front Shock Springs are engineered with precision manufacturing techniques to deliver consistent performance characteristics across every driving session. The firm 0.9kgf/cm spring rate is carefully calculated to provide optimal suspension stiffness for vehicles that benefit from more responsive handling and improved body control. At 66mm in length, these springs are specifically matched to HoBao 17mm big bore shock absorbers, which are known for their durability and performance in both racing and recreational RC driving applications. The material composition is designed to withstand repeated compression and extension cycles without losing its spring characteristics, ensuring your suspension maintains consistent performance whether you're driving on carpet tracks, concrete surfaces, or outdoor off-road terrain. The white-coloured springs make it easy to identify the spring rate when you're running multiple suspension setups or when you need to quickly locate replacement springs in your spare parts collection. For drivers looking to optimise their RC car UK performance, these springs represent a cost-effective way to fine-tune your suspension without investing in a completely new shock system, allowing you to experiment with different setups until you find the perfect balance between grip and handling response.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these springs suitable for beginners in RC cars? — While suspension tuning is an advanced topic, these springs are perfect for anyone looking to understand how suspension adjustment affects RC car handling. Beginners should note that these are firm springs, meaning they provide more responsive handling but may feel stiffer than standard springs. If you're new to RC and unsure about spring rates, consider starting with medium-rate springs and working up to firm springs as you develop your driving skills and understanding of suspension geometry.
- What makes a 0.9kgf/cm spring rate considered firm? — Spring rates are measured in kilogram-force per centimetre, which indicates how much weight is needed to compress the spring by one centimetre. A 0.9kgf/cm rating is considered firm because it requires more force to compress compared to softer springs, resulting in a stiffer suspension that provides better body control and more precise steering response, though it may reduce overall grip on rough surfaces.
- Will these HoBao springs fit my RC vehicle? — These springs are specifically designed for HoBao 17mm big bore shocks. Check your vehicle's specification to confirm you have 17mm shocks before purchasing. If your RC car uses different shock sizes such as 14mm shocks, you will need springs specifically rated for that size, as incorrect spring sizes will not fit properly and could damage your suspension system.
- How often should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs typically last many seasons of regular use, but you should inspect them periodically for signs of permanent deformation, rust, or damage. If you notice your suspension feels softer than usual or your handling characteristics have changed significantly, it may be time to replace your springs. Springs can also lose their rate over time with extensive use, so competitive drivers often replace them regularly to maintain consistent performance.
- What is the difference between firm and soft springs? — Firm springs (like this 0.9kgf/cm rating) resist compression more and provide tighter, more responsive handling with better body control, while soft springs compress more easily and provide smoother ride characteristics and increased grip on bumpy surfaces. Your choice depends on your track surface, driving style, and vehicle setup—smooth tracks favour firm springs for precision, while rough terrain benefits from softer springs for traction.
- Can I mix spring rates between front and rear? — Yes, many drivers use different spring rates front and rear to fine-tune their RC buggy UK handling. Firmer front springs combined with softer rear springs create different weight transfer characteristics than running matched springs throughout, allowing you to customise your suspension balance to suit your driving style and specific track conditions.
