Overview
The FTX DR8 Steering Servo Saver Post & Spring (FTX9507) is an essential replacement spare part for owners of the FTX DR8 1/8 Desert Racer and compatible RC models. This precision-engineered component is designed to protect your steering servo from damage caused by impacts and collisions, which is especially important when bashing or racing your RC car UK through challenging terrain. The servo saver mechanism absorbs shock loads that would otherwise be transmitted directly to your servo, extending its lifespan and maintaining consistent steering response throughout your driving sessions.
Whether you're a competitive racer pushing your FTX DR8 to its limits on the track, or a weekend basher enjoying off-road adventures, a servo saver post and spring is crucial maintenance equipment. This genuine FTX component ensures that your steering system remains reliable and responsive, protecting one of the most important and frequently used servos in your vehicle. If you've experienced servo damage, or simply want to upgrade your steering protection, this replacement part is a straightforward installation that will give you peace of mind every time you hit the throttle.
RC Model Shop stocks genuine FTX spares and hop-up parts for all the popular FTX models. As an authorised FTX dealer, we guarantee authentic products and expert support to help you maintain your ready to run RC car in perfect condition.
Key Features
- Servo Saver Design — This component incorporates a spring-loaded mechanism that prevents direct impact forces from reaching your steering servo, which means your servo will last longer and maintain better steering control even after multiple crashes or hard landings.
- OEM FTX Component — As an original equipment manufacturer part, this servo saver post and spring is engineered to the exact specifications of your FTX DR8 and compatible models, ensuring perfect fitment and performance without any modifications or adjustments required.
- Easy Installation — The design allows for straightforward replacement on your RC desert racer, with no special tools or technical expertise required, making it ideal for both experienced enthusiasts and those new to RC car maintenance.
- Spring-Loaded Protection — The integrated spring mechanism absorbs impact energy and gradually returns to its neutral position, providing consistent protection across multiple hits without degrading in performance.
- Compatible with Multiple Models — Beyond the FTX DR8, this servo saver post and spring works with the FTX Supaforza GT 1/7th Brushless Electric model, giving you flexibility across your RC collection.
Technical Performance
The FTX DR8 Steering Servo Saver Post & Spring represents quality engineering focused on protecting your servo system. The servo saver post is the physical connection point between your steering linkage and servo horn, whilst the spring provides the crucial shock absorption function. When your RC car encounters an obstacle or collision, the spring-loaded design deflects and absorbs the impact rather than allowing the force to transmit directly to your servo. This is particularly important in high-impact driving scenarios common with RC desert racers and aggressive off-road bashers. The component is manufactured to precise tolerances to ensure smooth operation and reliable performance. Whether you're running your FTX DR8 at high speed across desert terrain or navigating technical rock crawling sections, this servo saver system maintains steering integrity whilst protecting your servo from premature wear and damage. The spring mechanism is designed to handle repeated impacts without losing its protective characteristics, ensuring long-term reliability for the life of your RC vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a servo saver and why do I need one on my RC car? — A servo saver is a protective mechanism that sits between your steering linkage and servo, absorbing shock loads from impacts and collisions. When you crash or hit an obstacle, the servo saver spring deflects and absorbs the energy rather than transmitting it directly to your servo, which prevents servo damage and extends its lifespan. This is essential for any RC car UK owner who frequently bashers or races, as it significantly improves durability and reliability.
- Is this compatible with my FTX model? — This servo saver post and spring is confirmed compatible with the FTX DR8 1/8 Desert Racer 6S RTR in both blue and red variants, as well as the FTX Supaforza GT 1/7th Brushless Electric RTR in both colours. If you own one of these models, this part will fit perfectly. Check your model designation to confirm compatibility before ordering.
- How difficult is it to install the servo saver? — Installation is straightforward and requires only basic RC knowledge. You'll need to disconnect your steering linkage from your servo horn, remove the old servo saver components if present, and install this new FTX9507 assembly. Most users can complete the installation in 15-30 minutes with standard RC tools. Consult your vehicle manual for detailed step-by-step instructions specific to your model.
- How often should I replace my servo saver? — The servo saver spring will gradually lose its protective characteristics over time with repeated impacts. If you notice your steering feels less responsive or you've experienced significant crashes, it's time to replace the servo saver. For heavily bashed vehicles, replacing the servo saver annually or as needed maintains optimal protection and steering performance.
- Will this prevent all servo damage? — Whilst the servo saver significantly reduces the risk of servo damage from impacts and collisions, it cannot completely eliminate all potential damage. Extremely severe crashes or direct impacts can still potentially damage your servo, but the servo saver ensures that normal driving and minor crashes are absorbed without harming your servo system.
- What tools do I need to install this part? — You'll typically need a standard RC tool set including hex wrenches, screwdrivers, and potentially a small wrench depending on your specific installation method. Refer to your FTX DR8 manual for the exact tools required for your model variant.
