Overview

The FTX Outback Fury/Hi-Rock Alloy Portal Steering Link FTX9218-11 is a precision-engineered replacement component designed specifically for owners of the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1:10 trail rock crawler. This essential steering linkage part is crafted from durable alloy material to provide reliable performance and enhanced durability in demanding rock crawling conditions. Whether you are upgrading your existing FTX Hi-Rock or Fury crawler, replacing a worn component, or building a portal axle conversion setup, this steering link is an integral part of maintaining optimal steering geometry and responsiveness on challenging terrain.

RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand quality replacement parts for their scale crawlers will appreciate the engineering precision that FTX brings to this component. The alloy construction offers superior strength compared to standard plastic alternatives, making it an excellent choice for serious RC rock crawlers who push their vehicles to the limit. This is the kind of detailed upgrade part that separates weekend bashers from dedicated competitors who understand that quality spares are essential for maintaining peak performance and longevity in your RC car UK hobby.

Designed as part of the comprehensive FTX Outback Fury/Hi-Rock Alloy Portal Axle Conversion System, this steering link works in harmony with other portal axle components to deliver the dramatic increase in ground clearance, scale appearance, and functional four-link suspension geometry that portal axle conversions are renowned for. If you are considering a portal axle upgrade for your 1:10 scale FTX crawler, or simply need a replacement steering link to maintain your current setup, this component delivers the quality and compatibility you need.

Key Features

  • Alloy Construction — Manufactured from premium quality alloy material, this steering link provides exceptional strength and rigidity compared to plastic alternatives, ensuring reliable performance under the stresses of rock crawling and off-road trail navigation.

  • Compatible with Portal Axle Conversion Systems — This steering link is specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with the FTX Outback Fury/Hi-Rock Alloy Portal Axle Conversion kit, forming a critical part of the complete portal drivetrain upgrade for enhanced scale realism and improved suspension geometry.
  • Enhanced Durability — The robust alloy construction means this component will withstand repeated impacts, extreme articulation, and the demanding stresses of rock crawling, rock hopping, and trail exploration without fatigue or failure.
  • OEM Quality Replacement Part — As an official FTX spare part, this steering link meets the manufacturer's exact quality standards and specifications, guaranteeing compatibility and performance with your FTX Outback Hi-Rock or Fury 1:10 crawler.
  • Direct Fitment — No modification or adaptation required; this component installs directly into the steering assembly of compatible FTX vehicles, making replacement and installation straightforward for both experienced builders and newer RC enthusiasts.

Technical Performance

The FTX Outback Fury/Hi-Rock Alloy Portal Steering Link represents the manufacturer's commitment to engineering quality in every detail of their 1:10 scale rock crawler platform. Constructed from premium alloy rather than plastic, this steering link delivers superior rigidity and fatigue resistance, ensuring that your steering geometry remains true and consistent through countless hours of rock crawling, trail navigation, and competitive off-road driving. The precision engineering means that steering inputs translate directly and responsively to wheel angle changes, critical when navigating tight rocky obstacles or executing precise manoeuvres on technical terrain. This component forms a key part of the portal axle conversion system that FTX offers for the Outback Hi-Rock and Outback Fury platforms, allowing builders to achieve the increased ground clearance, dramatic stance, and improved suspension geometry that portal axles provide. The alloy construction ensures that even under the extreme articulation and impact forces encountered in rock crawling scenarios, this steering link maintains its dimensional accuracy and performance characteristics. Whether you are running a stock Outback Hi-Rock setup or have upgraded to the full portal axle conversion kit, this steering link is engineered to deliver the steering precision and durability that serious RC rock crawlers demand from their vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this steering link compatible with my FTX Outback Hi-Rock? — Yes, this alloy portal steering link is specifically designed for the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1:10 trail rock crawler, and it is also compatible with the FTX Outback Fury. Compatibility is guaranteed as this is an official FTX spare part manufactured to OEM specifications.
  • Can I use this steering link on a stock setup or only with a portal axle conversion? — This component is designed as part of the portal axle conversion system, though it can be used to replace a worn steering link in either configuration. If you are considering a full upgrade, the FTX Outback Fury/Hi-Rock Alloy Portal Axle Conversion Set (FTX9217) includes all necessary components for a complete transformation.
  • What makes an alloy steering link better than the standard plastic version? — Alloy construction provides superior rigidity, strength, and fatigue resistance compared to plastic. This means the component maintains its dimensional accuracy even under extreme suspension articulation and impact forces typical in rock crawling, resulting in more consistent steering geometry and longer component life.
  • Is installation difficult for someone new to RC cars? — Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC building experience. You will need standard RC tools including hex drivers and screwdrivers. If you are new to RC car customisation, detailed guidance is available from authorised FTX retailers, and our team at RC Model Shop are happy to provide advice.
  • What other steering components might I need for a complete steering upgrade? — Depending on whether you are undertaking a full portal axle conversion or simply replacing a worn component, you may also need the FTX Outback Fury/Hi-Rock Alloy Portal Steering Mount & Cover (available in left and right versions), the Alloy Portal Steering Bushing (2pc), and the Alloy Portal Panhard Bar to complete a comprehensive steering and suspension upgrade.
  • Will this improve my crawler's steering response? — By maintaining precise steering geometry through superior rigidity, this alloy steering link contributes to more responsive and consistent steering performance compared to plastic alternatives, particularly noticeable on technical terrain where precise steering input is critical.
