Overview

The FTX Ravine RC380 Motor Rear is a genuine replacement motor designed specifically for the FTX Ravine 1:10 RTR rock buggy crawler. Whether you're an experienced RC enthusiast looking to maintain your prized FTX Ravine or a dedicated hobbyist searching for a reliable spare motor, this component represents FTX's commitment to quality and durability. The RC380 motor range has established itself as a dependable choice within the 1/10 scale RC car UK community, offering consistent performance across demanding off-road terrain.

As a rear motor unit, this component is essential for maintaining the dual-motor setup that gives the FTX Ravine its excellent torque distribution and climbing ability. The 2.3mm shaft ensures compatibility with the vehicle's drivetrain, allowing seamless power transfer to the rear axle. For anyone running an FTX Ravine rock crawler, having a quality replacement motor on hand means less downtime and more time enjoying the hobby. This is an officially licensed FTX spare part, guaranteeing authentic engineering and perfect fitment to your vehicle.

The FTX Ravine has earned respect within the ready to run RC buggy market for its authentic rock crawling capabilities, and the motors are a significant reason why. If your current rear motor has seen better days or you're looking to optimise performance, this OEM replacement motor is the straightforward solution that keeps your rig running at its best.

Key Features

  • Genuine FTX OEM Component — This is an official FTX spare part manufactured to the exact specifications required by the Ravine platform, ensuring perfect compatibility and reliability without guesswork or fitment issues.
  • 2.3mm Shaft Design — The precision-engineered 2.3mm shaft connects directly to the Ravine's rear drivetrain, providing secure coupling that maintains consistent torque delivery during challenging rock crawling manoeuvres and off-road runs.
  • RC380 Motor Specification — Part of the proven RC380 motor family trusted across multiple FTX platforms, this proven design delivers the controlled power output needed for technical rock crawling and rough terrain negotiation.
  • Drop-in Replacement — As an official spare part for the FTX Ravine RTR (model FTX5574), this motor requires no modifications or adaptation work and installs directly into the existing motor mount and coupling.
  • Dual-Motor Support — The Ravine utilises front and rear motors for independent power management and improved weight distribution, making rear motor reliability critical to overall vehicle performance.
  • Rear Position Specific — This is specifically engineered for rear motor duty within the Ravine architecture, distinguishing it from the front motor unit and ensuring optimal drivetrain geometry and torque characteristics.

Technical Performance

The FTX Ravine RC380 Motor Rear represents solid engineering in the 1/10 scale electric RC crawler segment. The RC380 motor classification places it within the intermediate power band — offering sufficient torque for climbing steep gradients and navigating rocky obstacles without excessive current draw that would stress the speed controller. The 2.3mm shaft is machined to precision tolerances, ensuring minimal play in the coupling whilst remaining robust enough to withstand the shock loads encountered during rock crawling. The motor's design philosophy prioritises reliability over raw speed, which aligns perfectly with rock crawling dynamics where sustained climbing ability matters more than top-end velocity. As the rear motor in the Ravine's dual-motor configuration, it works in concert with the front motor to distribute power intelligently across the vehicle's wheelbase, improving traction during technical manoeuvres. The engineering reflects FTX's understanding of what makes a capable 1/10 scale rock buggy succeed in demanding terrain — precise power delivery, mechanical durability, and integration with the vehicle's overall drivetrain architecture. Built to the same quality standards as the original equipment fitted to new Ravine vehicles, this replacement motor maintains the vehicle's intended performance characteristics across all driving conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the FTX Ravine RC380 Motor Rear compatible with my Ravine rock crawler? — Yes, this motor is designed specifically for the FTX Ravine 1:10 RTR (model FTX5574) and serves as the rear motor unit. The 2.3mm shaft and mounting interface match the vehicle's original specifications exactly, allowing plug-and-play installation without any modification required.
  • How do I know if my rear motor needs replacing? — Signs that your rear motor may need replacement include reduced climbing power, unusual grinding or grinding noises, excessive current draw through the ESC, or the motor failing to respond normally to throttle input. Testing the motor in isolation with a separate battery and speed controller can confirm whether replacement is necessary.
  • What is the difference between the front and rear RC380 motors in the Ravine? — The FTX Ravine uses two RC380 motors to distribute power across the vehicle, improving weight distribution and traction. The rear motor (FTX8957) and front motor (FTX8954) are specifically engineered for their respective positions within the drivetrain architecture, with the rear unit optimised for the rear axle coupling and mounting configuration.
  • What battery does my Ravine need to power this motor? — The FTX Ravine is compatible with the Li-ion 7.4v 1500mAh battery (model FTX8962), which is sold separately. This voltage and capacity combination provides optimal runtime and power delivery for the dual RC380 motor setup.
  • Can I upgrade my Ravine motors for more power? — This replacement motor maintains your vehicle's original performance characteristics and reliability. For significant power modifications, you would need to source alternative motors and verify compatibility with the vehicle's speed controller and suspension — a process requiring technical knowledge and testing beyond a simple component swap.
  • Is this suitable for beginners to RC hobbies? — The FTX Ravine rock crawler is widely respected as a beginner-friendly ready to run RC vehicle in the UK market, and this motor is part of that design philosophy. The replacement process is straightforward for anyone with basic mechanical ability and tools, though professional installation is also a sensible option if you lack experience.
