This component comes as a genuine FTX spare part, backed by our authorised retailer status and commitment to stocking only authentic products. If you own an FTX Mauler 2.0 in yellow or red, or simply want to upgrade your steering linkage with heavier-duty components, this is the genuine article you need to keep your crawler performing at its best.
Key Features
- Steel Construction — Unlike plastic alternatives, these steering and servo links are manufactured from steel, providing superior strength, durability and resistance to bending under the extreme forces experienced during rock crawling and technical terrain navigation.
- Dual Size Configuration — The package includes both 128mm and 50mm links, providing flexibility for different steering geometry setups and allowing you to fine-tune your crawler's handling characteristics to match your driving style and terrain preferences.
- Genuine FTX Engineering — As official FTX replacement parts, these components are designed to OEM specifications and manufactured to the same tolerances as the originals, ensuring perfect fit and functionality.
- Precision Servo Linkage — The 50mm servo link maintains perfect control geometry between your servo and steering system, translating servo commands into responsive, accurate steering with minimal play or lag.
- Extended Steering Travel — The 128mm steering link provides optimised geometry for the Mauler's suspension travel, allowing full articulation whilst maintaining steering responsiveness across the vehicle's complete range of motion.
- Compatible with Mauler 2.0 — Specifically engineered for the FTX5575Y2 (yellow) and FTX5575R2 (red) models, guaranteeing perfect compatibility and fitment without modification.
- Maintenance Essential — Regular inspection and replacement of steering linkage is critical for safe RC operation; these spares ensure your vehicle maintains its original steering precision and safety characteristics.
Technical Performance
The FTX Mauler Steel Steering & Servo Link represents precision chassis engineering at its finest. Rock crawling places extraordinary demands on steering systems, requiring perfect linkage geometry to maintain control and responsiveness whilst navigating rocky terrain, vertical obstacles and complex technical sections. The steel material selection is critical here; steel offers dramatically superior strength-to-weight compared to plastic, resisting deformation under the lateral forces, impact loads and sustained pressure that genuine rock crawling delivers. The 128mm steering link length has been engineered to provide optimised steering throw across the Mauler's suspension range, allowing the vehicle to maintain responsive steering geometry even at full articulation when the suspension is compressed or extended. The 50mm servo link maintains tight tolerances in the servo-to-bellcrank connection, eliminating play that would translate to imprecise steering and sluggish response. In practical terms, this means your crawler will maintain crisp, accurate steering input through every obstacle. The combination of both link sizes in a single package makes this an ideal maintenance item, allowing you to replace worn steering geometry completely and restore your vehicle to original specifications. For serious UK RC crawlers, maintaining proper steering linkage is not optional; it is fundamental to safe, predictable vehicle behaviour across all terrain types.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the FTX Mauler Steel Steering & Servo Link suitable for my rock crawler? — Yes, this component is specifically designed for the FTX Mauler 2.0 4x4 Rock Crawler RTR in both yellow and red variants. If you own either FTX5575Y2 or FTX5575R2, this spare part is engineered for perfect compatibility.
- Why would I need to replace my steering and servo links? — During active rock crawling, steering linkages experience constant articulation and occasional impact loads. Over time, plastic alternatives wear, develop play, and can crack. Steel links resist deformation and last considerably longer, particularly if you engage in serious technical crawling or competitive events.
- What is the difference between the 128mm and 50mm links included? — The 128mm link is your main steering link, connecting the steering geometry across the vehicle's width and allowing full steering throw. The 50mm servo link is the shorter component connecting your servo directly to the steering bellcrank, maintaining precise control input. Both are essential to complete steering function.
- Can I use these as upgrades rather than replacements? — Absolutely. Many RC enthusiasts upgrade to steel steering links even if their original plastic components are still functional, because steel provides superior durability, eliminates play, and delivers more responsive steering. If you frequently bash your Mauler or compete in challenging terrain, upgrading to steel components is a smart investment.
- What tools do I need to install these steering links? — Installation requires basic hand tools and socket wrenches. You will need to disconnect your existing links and bolt the new ones into place. FTX components use standard RC hardware, so the process is straightforward for anyone with basic RC mechanical experience.
- How do steel links compare to the original plastic versions? — Steel offers dramatically superior strength and durability compared to plastic. Whilst plastic links are lighter, steel resists bending, cracking and permanent deformation under the sustained loads that rock crawling delivers. For serious crawlers, steel is the standard choice.
- Will these links improve my crawler's steering response? — By eliminating flex and play that can develop in worn plastic links, steel components can noticeably improve steering precision and response. Your vehicle will feel more connected to your steering input with zero unwanted movement.
