Key Features

  • Official FTX OEM Component — This is a genuine factory-produced part manufactured by FTX specifically for the Colt model, ensuring it meets exact specification and fitment requirements that aftermarket alternatives cannot guarantee.
  • Single Piece Design — The pack contains one servo linkage unit, making it easy to replace a worn or damaged component without unnecessary bulk, and allowing you to purchase multiple packs if you need spares for multiple vehicles.
  • Critical Steering Control — The servo linkage is the mechanical bridge between your servo motor and the steering arms, making it essential for precise steering response and control accuracy during both casual bashing and competitive racing.
  • Durable Construction — Engineered to withstand the stresses of regular RC car use, including impacts, vibration, and the demands of off-road terrain that RC crawlers regularly encounter.
  • Perfect for Maintenance — Whether you're replacing a damaged linkage or keeping spares on hand for regular maintenance, this component is a must-have for any FTX Colt owner who wants to keep their RC car in optimum working condition.
  • Affordable Spares Solution — At competitive pricing, this servo linkage represents excellent value for money, allowing you to maintain your RC investment without expensive downtime or replacement of entire assemblies.

Technical Performance

The FTX Colt Servo Linkage is a precision-engineered mechanical component that forms a vital part of your crawler's steering system architecture. As a servo linkage, it transmits the rotational motion from your servo motor into linear steering movement, translating the commands from your RC radio transmitter into real-world directional changes. The linkage must be rigid enough to handle the torque loads generated by the servo under load, whilst remaining light enough not to add unnecessary weight to your crawler. FTX has engineered this component to integrate seamlessly with the Colt platform, ensuring compatibility with the vehicle's servo saver system, steering arms, and overall chassis geometry. The linkage connects to the servo saver post (sold separately as FTX6825) and works in conjunction with the steering arm components to create a responsive and reliable steering system. For RC crawlers like the Colt that are frequently used on challenging terrain with uneven surfaces and obstacle navigation, the servo linkage must resist flexing and maintain precise geometry to ensure steering inputs remain accurate even under the heavy loads that crawling disciplines impose. The single-piece construction minimises potential failure points compared to multi-component alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the FTX Colt Servo Linkage suitable for my RC crawler? — Yes, this component is specifically designed for the FTX Colt model. If you own a Colt crawler, this servo linkage will integrate perfectly with your vehicle's steering system and servo assembly.
  • Why would I need to replace my servo linkage? — Servo linkages can become worn, bent, or cracked through regular use, impacts with obstacles, or crashes. A damaged linkage will result in imprecise steering response and may cause your crawler to pull to one side. Replacement ensures your Colt maintains accurate steering control.
  • How difficult is it to install this servo linkage? — Installation difficulty depends on your mechanical experience, but the process typically involves disconnecting the old linkage from the servo and steering components and connecting the new one. Most RC enthusiasts with basic mechanical knowledge can complete this job with standard tools. If you're unsure, the team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance.
  • What other servo-related parts might I need for my Colt? — The FTX Colt steering system comprises several components including the Servo Saver Post (FTX6825) which protects your servo from impact damage, and Steering Arms (FTX6827) which transfer the linkage motion into actual wheel turning. Many Colt owners keep these parts on hand as they wear or break more frequently than other components.
  • Is this an official FTX part? — Yes, the FTX6828 is an official OEM part manufactured by FTX, not a third-party alternative. This guarantees proper fitment and quality standards.
  • Can I use this servo linkage on other FTX models? — This component is specifically designed for the FTX Colt. Whilst some FTX models may share similar architecture, it is not recommended to use this part on other models unless explicitly confirmed as compatible, as servo linkage geometry varies between platforms.
