Overview

The FTX Stinger Lower Shock Pivot Ball (8pc) is an essential spare part for RC enthusiasts who own the FTX Stinger or compatible FTX models. Whether you're a seasoned RC car UK competitor or a weekend basher, maintaining your suspension components is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. These pivot balls are the connecting points that allow your shock absorbers to articulate smoothly, absorbing impacts and maintaining consistent suspension geometry during high-speed runs and technical terrain.

FTX is a recognised manufacturer of quality RC vehicles and spares, delivering reliability and performance across their extensive range of 1/10 scale electric RC cars, crawlers, and buggies. The Stinger is a popular platform among UK RC enthusiasts, and having genuine replacement parts on hand ensures your model stays in peak condition. This pack of eight pivot balls provides excellent value and ensures you have spares for both front and rear shock installations, making it an ideal addition to any serious RC hobbyist's parts collection.

Lower shock pivot balls experience significant wear during regular use, particularly if you're running your RC model on rough terrain or in competitive racing environments. By choosing quality OEM replacement parts from RC Model Shop, you're investing in the longevity and performance of your FTX Stinger. These are the genuine FTX components designed specifically for your model, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable operation.

Key Features

  • Pack of Eight Balls — This comprehensive eight-piece set gives you sufficient replacement parts for complete suspension maintenance, whether you need to refresh both front and rear shock pivot points or keep spares for future repairs and maintenance cycles.
  • Genuine FTX Components — These are authentic factory parts manufactured to OEM specifications, ensuring compatibility, durability and performance that matches the original equipment fitted to your FTX Stinger RC model.
  • Lower Shock Mounting Points — These pivot balls specifically service the lower mounting positions of your shock absorbers, which experience constant rotational stress during normal driving and require regular inspection and replacement as wear develops.
  • Direct Fitment Design — Manufactured to precise tolerances, these pivot balls integrate seamlessly with the FTX Stinger suspension geometry, maintaining the exact suspension angles and travel characteristics your model was engineered to deliver.
  • Affordable Spare Parts Solution — At £3.99, this eight-piece pack represents excellent value for essential maintenance components, making it easy to keep your RC collection in top condition without expensive downtime.
  • Essential Maintenance Item — Pivot balls are wear items that gradually degrade through repeated impacts, steering loads and suspension articulation, making this pack a practical addition to your spare parts inventory for any serious RC enthusiast.

Technical Performance

The lower shock pivot balls are precision-engineered components that form the critical connection between your shock absorber assembly and the vehicle chassis. These small but vital parts handle tremendous loads during suspension compression and extension cycles, particularly when running your RC model across rough terrain or executing sharp cornering manoeuvres. The FTX Stinger platform is engineered for dynamic performance across various driving conditions, from backyard basking to competitive racing, and the suspension components must withstand corresponding mechanical stresses. Quality pivot balls maintain consistent suspension geometry and ensure smooth, predictable handling characteristics. Over time, repeated impacts, steering inputs and compression cycles cause micro-fractures and surface wear on pivot balls, leading to loose connections, suspension rattle and degraded handling precision. This is why keeping quality replacement parts in stock is essential for any serious RC car UK enthusiast. The genuine FTX specification ensures these balls match the original dimensions, material composition and bearing characteristics of factory-fitted components, providing seamless integration with your existing suspension setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should I replace shock pivot balls on my RC Stinger? — The frequency depends on your driving intensity and terrain. Weekend bashers might replace them every 6-12 months, whilst competitive racers may need to refresh them every 2-3 months. Regular inspection during maintenance is recommended; if you notice rattling in the suspension or loose movement in the pivot points, replacement is necessary.
  • Are these compatible with other FTX models? — These are specifically listed for the FTX Stinger, though many FTX models share suspension components. Always verify compatibility with your specific model before ordering. Contact our team at RC Model Shop if you're unsure whether these parts fit your particular FTX vehicle.
  • How do I install these pivot balls? — Installation requires removing the shock absorber assembly and carefully pressing out the old pivot ball, then pressing in the new one. You'll need a bearing puller or ball joint tool to do this safely without damaging the surrounding components. If you're unfamiliar with suspension work, our team at RC Model Shop can offer guidance or advice on the process.
  • Why buy genuine FTX parts rather than aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine OEM parts are manufactured to exact specifications matching your vehicle's engineering tolerances. They guarantee perfect fitment, correct material properties and reliability. Aftermarket parts may vary in quality, dimensions and bearing characteristics, potentially affecting suspension performance, handling and longevity.
  • What's the difference between upper and lower shock pivot balls? — Lower pivot balls mount at the bottom of the shock absorber where it connects to the chassis, whilst upper balls connect the shock to the upper suspension link. Both are essential for proper suspension geometry, but they may have different dimensions or specifications. Always order the correct type for your repair needs.
  • Can I mix old and new pivot balls on the same shock? — Ideally, you should replace pivot balls in pairs (both ends of a shock absorber) to maintain consistent suspension geometry. Mixing worn and new components can introduce binding, inconsistent damping and unpredictable handling. For best results, replace all pivot balls during a complete suspension refresh.
