Technical Performance
Ball link ends are precision mechanical components that form the foundation of responsive handling in any RC car. In the FTX Tracker, these parts connect the steering linkages to the front axle and the suspension arms to the chassis, allowing them to articulate smoothly whilst maintaining structural integrity under load. The ball joint design features a spherical connection point that permits angular movement in multiple directions, which is critical for maintaining accurate suspension geometry as the wheels compress and extend over bumps and obstacles. As you drive your Tracker over rough terrain, through high-speed corners, or perform jumps and landing impacts, these ball links experience repetitive stress and friction. Over time, the ball joint may develop slight play or looseness, which manifests as imprecise steering feel, wandering handling, or a general loss of control responsiveness. Replacing worn ball links with these genuine FTX components restores the precise mechanical relationship between your steering input and the wheels' actual movement. The engineering and material selection in these OEM parts ensures they withstand the punishment that RC driving delivers, whether you're bashing on grass, gravel, dirt tracks or tarmac courses. By maintaining quality ball link ends as part of your regular maintenance schedule, you'll keep your Tracker performing at its peak and enjoy many hours of reliable, predictable driving.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these ball link ends compatible with my FTX Tracker? — Yes, these FTX10280 ball link ends are designed specifically for the FTX Tracker model. Using genuine OEM parts ensures perfect compatibility with your chassis, suspension and steering geometry without any modifications required.
- How do I know when my ball link ends need replacing? — Signs of worn ball links include excessive play or looseness in your steering, a vague or unresponsive steering feel, wandering handling at speed, or visible damage to the ball joint itself. If your Tracker's handling feels less precise than it did when new, replacement ball links are likely needed.
- How difficult is it to replace ball link ends? — Ball link end replacement is a straightforward maintenance task suitable for RC enthusiasts of all skill levels. Most connections use simple pin or cotter pin fasteners that can be removed with basic tools like pliers or a small wrench. If you're new to RC car maintenance, the FTX Tracker's accessible design makes this an ideal first repair to learn on.
- Will replacing ball link ends improve my Tracker's handling? — If your current ball links are worn, replacing them will absolutely restore your handling precision and steering response to factory-fresh levels. You'll notice tighter, more responsive steering and more consistent suspension action throughout your driving.
- Can I use aftermarket ball link ends instead of genuine FTX parts? — Whilst aftermarket options may exist, genuine FTX OEM parts are engineered to exact specifications for your Tracker's geometry and are guaranteed to fit perfectly and perform as intended. Choosing genuine parts eliminates any risk of fitment issues or premature wear.
- How often should I replace my ball link ends? — The frequency depends on how intensively you drive and the terrain you drive on. Regular inspection during maintenance sessions will tell you when they're due for replacement. Casual weekend bashers might need replacements annually, whilst high-intensity drivers may need them more frequently.
