Technical Performance
The FMS 1400MM T28 Trojan V4 Vertical Stabiliser represents precision engineering in RC aircraft components. At 1400mm overall length, the T-28D achieves an impressive balance between scale authenticity and practical flying characteristics. The vertical stabiliser is engineered to work with the extensive FMS component ecosystem, which includes the 4258-KV650 brushless motor rated at 650KV, providing the power envelope needed for stable, predictable flight. The aircraft accommodates an 80A ESC with 420mm input cable and 4.0mm motor connector, delivering the electrical performance necessary for aerobatic manoeuvres and extended flight duration. The frame utilises digital servo systems throughout, with options for 9g and 17g metal gear servos featuring 460mm and 700mm wire configurations respectively, ensuring precise control input response. The T-28D V4 architecture supports both front and main landing gear systems, complete with electronic retraction capabilities, enabling realistic warbird-style takeoffs and landings. Construction materials throughout the airframe are selected for durability and weight efficiency, whilst the authentic red colour scheme is applied to exacting standards. The vertical stabiliser dimensions and weight distribution have been calculated to complement the forward fuselage, main wing set, and empennage geometry, creating an aircraft that exhibits excellent directional stability and predictable handling characteristics across a wide flight envelope, from gentle scale flying to moderate aerobatic manoeuvres.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the FMS T-28 Trojan V4 suitable for beginner RC aircraft pilots? — The T-28D is a larger scale model that benefits from some RC flying experience, though it is not exclusively for advanced pilots. The 1400mm size provides excellent visibility and stability in flight. If you are new to RC aircraft, we recommend starting with smaller trainers and working your way up to this rewarding scale model. FMS offers the FMS Reflex V3 Stable Flight Controller as an optional accessory that transforms the T-28 into a beginner-friendly platform by providing stabilised, optimised, and manual flight modes through Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to learn at your own pace.
- What motor and power system does the FMS 1400MM T28 Trojan V4 use? — The T-28D V4 utilises the 4258-KV650 brushless motor, specifically engineered for this airframe size and weight. This motor pairs with an 80A ESC featuring a 420mm input cable and 4.0mm motor connector, delivering responsive performance for both level flight and moderate aerobatic manoeuvres. The electrical architecture supports LiPo battery packs, though specific cell counts and capacities are selected based on your intended flying style and desired flight duration.
- What servo systems are compatible with the T-28 Trojan V4? — FMS supplies two servo options for the T-28D: the 9g Digital Metal Gear Servo, available in both positive and reverse configurations with 460mm wire leads, and the 17g Digital Metal Gear Servo in positive configuration with 700mm wire leads. These digital servos provide metal gear construction for durability, multiple mounting options, and compatibility with modern RC equipment. The choice between 9g and 17g depends on your control surface sizes and deflection preferences.
- Can I use the FMS Reflex V3 Flight Controller with my T-28 Trojan? — Yes, absolutely. The FMS Reflex V3 Stable Flight Controller is compatible with the 1400mm T-28D and many other RC aircraft models. This advanced system features three flight modes: Stabilised Mode for beginners (which automatically levels the aircraft and limits control sensitivity), Optimised Mode using gyroscopic stabilisation for intermediate pilots, and Manual Mode for full control. The Reflex V3 integrates Bluetooth connectivity for customisable parameter adjustment via iOS, Android, or Windows devices, includes unique identification codes to prevent frequency conflicts, and supports personalised device naming and password modification for enhanced security.
- What landing gear options are available for the T-28D V4? — The T-28D supports two dedicated landing gear systems: the Front Landing Gear System (priced at £54.99) and the Main Landing Gear System (priced at £88.99). Both systems are specifically engineered for the 1400mm T-28D V4 airframe and provide authentic warbird-style operation. The aircraft also accommodates electronic retraction systems, with both front and main e-retract modules available, enabling realistic undercarriage extension and retraction during your flights. Front and main landing gear covers are available separately for refined aesthetic appearance.
- What additional components might I need to complete a T-28D build? — Beyond the vertical stabiliser, a complete T-28D V4 build requires the fuselage (priced at £69.99), main wing set (£69.99), landing gear systems, motor, ESC, servos, propeller, and battery. FMS also offers the T-28D cockpit assembly (£35.99) and cowl (£35.99) to complete the authentic scale appearance. A spinner assembly is available (typically £10.99) and the decal sheet (£12.99) provides authentic military markings. The motor board (£5.99) integrates the motor with the fuselage, and various connector sets ensure compatibility with your electrical components.
- How does the 1400mm T-28D compare to other FMS large-scale aircraft? — The 1400mm T-28D occupies a unique position in the FMS range, offering substantial size and scale presence comparable to models like the 1400mm P-51D and 1400mm F4U Corsair, whilst delivering the distinctive warbird character of the classic trainer aircraft. The T-28 generally exhibits excellent stability and predictable handling, making it a favourite for scale flying and aerobatic training. FMS also produces the smaller 80mm electric-ducted-fan T-28 variant for those seeking a compact, high-speed alternative.
