The 800mm fuselage size strikes an ideal balance between manoeuvrability and structural integrity, making it suitable for a wide range of skill levels. From weekend flyers to dedicated RC aeroplane enthusiasts, this fuselage opens up possibilities for customisation and personal expression in your RC build. The attention to upgrade detail means you're investing in a component designed to last, providing excellent value for money and the foundation for countless hours of enjoyment in the air.

Key Features

  • 800mm Fuselage Size — The 800mm length provides an excellent balance between scale presence and practical handling characteristics, making this fuselage suitable for various skill levels and flying environments across the UK.
  • T-28 Trojan Design — This fuselage faithfully reproduces the classic lines and proportions of the legendary T-28 Trojan military trainer aircraft, offering authentic scale aesthetics that appeal to aviation enthusiasts and serious RC scale builders alike.
  • Upgrade Detail and Durability Focus — FMS has designed this fuselage with enhanced durability in mind, incorporating quality materials and construction techniques that ensure longevity through regular flights and handling during transportation to flying sites.
  • Fuselage-Only Component — As a dedicated fuselage part, this component allows builders to source wings, motors, electronics and other components separately, offering maximum flexibility in creating a custom build that matches your specific requirements and budget.
  • Manufacturer Quality Assurance — Manufactured by FMS Hobby, a recognised name in the RC aircraft industry, this fuselage benefits from established quality standards and engineering expertise developed through years of producing successful RC models.

Technical Performance

The FMS 800MM T-28 Trojan Fuselage is engineered as a standalone fuselage component designed to serve as the primary airframe for your RC aircraft project. At 800mm in length, it provides a substantial yet manageable platform for building a scale T-28 Trojan model. The fuselage is constructed with durability as a core design principle, utilising materials and manufacturing techniques that resist damage from normal flying operations and ground handling. This component serves as the central hub to which you will attach wings, control surfaces, landing gear, and electronic components. The engineering emphasises structural integrity and dimensional accuracy, ensuring proper alignment and fit when assembling with complementary components from FMS or compatible manufacturers. The fuselage design accommodates the weight distribution requirements of a balanced RC aircraft, and its proportions are based on the authentic T-28 Trojan, meaning that once fully assembled with appropriate wings and control systems, your model will exhibit realistic flight characteristics typical of this aircraft type. The attention to detail in the fuselage construction, including reinforced areas prone to stress and carefully engineered mounting points, means this component will provide reliable service through multiple flying seasons when properly maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the FMS 800MM T-28 Trojan Fuselage suitable for? — This fuselage is ideal for RC enthusiasts who want to build a scale model of the classic T-28 Trojan trainer aircraft. It suits both experienced RC aeroplane builders looking for a rewarding project and intermediate flyers who understand the requirements of assembling and configuring a complete RC aircraft. The 800mm size makes it manageable for most builders whilst maintaining authentic proportions.
  • Is this fuselage suitable for beginners? — This is a component-only fuselage, not a ready-to-fly or ready-to-run model, so it requires significant building and assembly experience. Beginners to RC aeroplanes might find this project challenging and would benefit from previous model-building experience or guidance from experienced RC aeroplane flyers. However, if you're a beginner with good practical skills and access to mentorship, this could be an excellent educational project.
  • What components do I need to complete an aircraft from this fuselage? — You will need to source a complete set of components including wings, tail surfaces, landing gear, motor, ESC, battery, radio system, servos, and various hardware and adhesives. FMS and other manufacturers produce compatible components, and careful research is essential to ensure all parts work together harmoniously in terms of weight distribution, electrical compatibility, and performance characteristics.
  • What motor size should I use with this fuselage? — The specific motor requirements depend on your final aircraft weight, desired performance, and battery configuration. Generally, brushless motors in the range suitable for 800mm-class aircraft are recommended, but you should calculate the required thrust based on your complete build weight. Consult FMS documentation, online RC aeroplane communities, or experienced builders for specific recommendations for T-28 builds.
  • Can I fly this indoors or outdoors? — The 800mm size typically makes this suitable for outdoor flying in calm to moderate wind conditions. Indoor flying would require an extremely lightweight build with very slow flight characteristics, which may not be practical with this fuselage size. Most T-28 Trojan builds of this size are optimised for outdoor park or field flying.
  • How long does it take to build this into a complete aircraft? — Building time varies considerably based on your experience level, the quality of finish you desire, and how quickly you can source all necessary components. Most builders should expect anywhere from 20 to 40+ hours of work, depending on whether you're doing a basic functional build or a highly detailed scale model with custom finishing.
  • What is the difference between this and other T-28 fuselages available? — The FMS 800MM T-28 Trojan Fuselage V2 designation suggests this is an upgraded version with improved durability and detail compared to previous iterations. FMS's focus on upgrade detail and durability means this fuselage incorporates lessons learned and refinements from earlier versions, offering better long-term reliability and construction quality than the original design.
