Key Features

  • M0.6 Module Specification — The M0.6 module size ensures precise compatibility with Fastrax and other standard RC drivetrain systems, allowing for accurate gear meshing that minimises backlash and maximises power transfer efficiency to your wheels.
  • 33-Tooth Configuration — The 33-tooth design provides an optimal balance between acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for a variety of driving styles and track conditions across different RC car types and scales.
  • 7075 Aluminium Alloy Construction — Manufactured from premium 7075 aircraft-grade aluminium, this pinion gear offers exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and superior hardness compared to standard aluminium or brass alternatives, ensuring the gear resists wear and maintains precise tooth geometry even under demanding conditions.
  • Precision-Machined Teeth — Each tooth is carefully machined to exact specifications, ensuring smooth engagement with your spur gear and reducing friction, vibration and noise during operation, which translates to better handling and improved overall vehicle performance.
  • Direct Upgrade Path — This gear serves as a direct replacement or upgrade component for numerous Fastrax-compatible RC vehicles, making it an ideal choice for performance tuning and maintenance without requiring additional modifications or adapters.
  • Compact Design — The pinion gear's compact form factor allows for easy installation and removal, making it convenient for track users who regularly adjust their gearing for different racing conditions and setups.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax M0.6 33T Aluminium 7075 Pinion Gear represents a significant step up in component quality for anyone serious about RC car performance. The use of 7075 aluminium alloy—the same material used in aerospace applications—demonstrates Fastrax's commitment to durability and precision engineering. This material choice is crucial because it provides superior hardness and fatigue resistance compared to conventional 6061 aluminium or even brass alternatives. The 33-tooth configuration strikes an excellent balance for most RC applications, offering neither excessive acceleration nor excessive top-end limitation. The M0.6 module specification ensures that the gear meshes perfectly with compatible spur gears, which is essential for reliable power transmission and longevity. Unlike plastic or poorly machined gears that can develop uneven wear patterns, the precision machining on this Fastrax component maintains consistent tooth geometry throughout its lifespan. The gear's small diameter and lightweight design make it ideal for applications where minimising drivetrain mass is important, as every gram saved helps improve acceleration and handling response in your RC vehicle. Whether you're running a brushless RC car UK model or a nitro-powered machine, this pinion gear will perform consistently and reliably across a wide range of operating conditions and power levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a pinion gear and why do I need to upgrade it? — A pinion gear is a small gear that meshes with your vehicle's larger spur gear, transferring power from the motor to the wheels. Upgrading to a high-quality pinion gear like the Fastrax M0.6 33T improves durability, reduces wear on both gears, decreases vibration and noise, and ensures more consistent performance. Over time, standard gears can develop worn teeth and uneven wear patterns; upgrading to a precision-machined component solves these problems.
  • What does the 33-tooth specification mean? — The number of teeth determines your vehicle's gear ratio when paired with your spur gear. A 33-tooth pinion is a versatile mid-range option that works well for general RC car use. If you want faster acceleration, choose a pinion with fewer teeth; if you want higher top speed, choose one with more teeth. The 33T is an excellent all-rounder for most RC enthusiasts.
  • What is M0.6 module and why does it matter? — Module refers to the size specification of the gear teeth. M0.6 is a standard module used in many RC applications, ensuring that the pinion gear will mesh properly with compatible spur gears. Using mismatched modules can result in poor gear meshing, excessive wear and potential drivetrain failure. Always check your vehicle's specifications to ensure compatibility.
  • Why is 7075 aluminium better than other materials? — 7075 aluminium is one of the strongest aluminium alloys available, offering superior hardness and fatigue resistance compared to standard 6061 aluminium or brass alternatives. This means the Fastrax pinion gear will resist wear, maintain its tooth geometry longer, and deliver more consistent performance throughout its lifespan, making it a worthwhile investment for serious RC drivers.
  • Is this gear suitable for high-powered brushless RC cars? — Yes, the 7075 aluminium construction provides the strength and durability needed for brushless powertrains. However, always ensure the gear ratio is appropriate for your motor's characteristics and your driving style. A precision-machined component like this one is especially recommended if you're running high-performance brushless motors.
  • How do I install this pinion gear on my RC car? — Installation involves removing the motor assembly, sliding the old pinion gear off the motor shaft, and sliding the new Fastrax M0.6 33T pinion gear onto the shaft in its place. Always ensure the gear is properly secured and that it meshes correctly with your spur gear before running. Consult your vehicle's manual for specific installation instructions.
  • Will upgrading to this pinion gear make my RC car faster? — Whether your RC car becomes faster depends on your current gear ratio and what you're upgrading from. If you switch to a pinion with more teeth, you'll increase top speed but sacrifice some acceleration. The main benefit of upgrading to a quality Fastrax component is improved durability, smoother operation and more consistent performance rather than a dramatic speed increase.
