Key Features
- M1 Module Steel Construction — The M1 module specification ensures precise tooth geometry and consistent meshing with compatible spur gears, which means your RC car's drivetrain will operate smoothly without binding or slipping, delivering reliable power transfer from motor to wheels in all driving conditions.
- 19-Tooth Configuration — With 19 teeth, this pinion gear provides an optimised balance between acceleration and top speed for a wide range of RC vehicles, giving you the gearing versatility needed for different driving styles and terrain types without requiring multiple gear sets.
- 5mm Bore Diameter — The 5mm shaft bore is a standard fitting on countless RC car platforms, meaning this gear will fit directly onto the motor shafts of most popular RC models available in the UK market, from crawlers to buggies to trucks.
- Steel Material Composition — Steel construction offers superior durability and wear resistance compared to plastic alternatives, which means this pinion gear will maintain its tooth profile for hundreds of running hours, delivering consistent performance and longer service life before replacement becomes necessary.
- MOD1 Specification — The MOD1 (Module 1) standard ensures compatibility with other MOD1 gears in your RC drivetrain, allowing you to confidently purchase replacement or upgraded gears knowing they will mesh correctly with your existing components without modification or adjustment.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax M1 19T Steel Pinion Gear represents genuine engineering excellence in RC car replacement components. Steel pinion gears have become the benchmark standard for serious RC enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on drivetrain reliability and performance. The steel construction provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance, ensuring the gear teeth maintain their precise shape and profile even under heavy load and repeated acceleration cycles. This is particularly important in competitive or high-intensity RC applications where drivetrain wear can accumulate quickly. The M1 module specification is a recognised standard in the RC industry, ensuring this gear will mesh perfectly with compatible spur gears and deliver smooth, silent operation without the noise and vibration associated with poorly matched gears. The 19-tooth count represents an ideal middle ground for most RC vehicles, providing sufficient acceleration response whilst maintaining reasonable top-speed potential, making this gear suitable for versatile driving rather than extreme specialisation. The 5mm bore is one of the most common motor shaft diameters found on modern RC cars in the UK market, from small-scale crawlers to larger 1/8-scale buggies and trucks. Whether you're replacing a worn gear on an established favourite, tuning your RC car's performance characteristics, or building up a spare parts collection for the field, this Fastrax pinion gear is the kind of quality component that serious RC enthusiasts depend on.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which RC cars is the Fastrax M1 19T Steel Pinion Gear compatible with? — This is a universal replacement component compatible with any RC vehicle that uses a 5mm motor shaft bore and MOD1-specification gears. This includes many popular platforms from manufacturers like Traxxas, Team Associated, Tamiya, Team Losi, Axial Racing, Mugen, HPI, and Element Enduro. Before purchasing, verify your vehicle uses a 5mm shaft bore and MOD1 gears to ensure perfect compatibility.
- Why should I upgrade to a steel pinion gear instead of plastic? — Steel pinion gears offer significantly better durability and wear resistance compared to plastic gears, especially under heavy load or in high-speed applications. The harder material maintains tooth profile longer, reducing noise and vibration, and extending the interval between replacements. For serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who run regularly, steel is the proven choice for reliability.
- Is this a direct replacement for my current pinion gear? — If your vehicle currently uses an M1 module gear with a 5mm bore, this Fastrax steel gear is a direct replacement. However, if you're upgrading from plastic gears, you should verify that your spur gear is also MOD1 specification for optimal compatibility and performance. Installing a MOD1 pinion with an incompatible spur gear will result in poor meshing and potential damage.
- How often will I need to replace this pinion gear? — The steel construction of this Fastrax gear provides exceptional longevity. Most users report hundreds of running hours before noticeable wear occurs. Actual replacement intervals depend on your driving intensity, terrain, and maintenance practices. Regular inspection and lubrication of your drivetrain will extend gear life significantly.
- What is the difference between MOD1 and other gear modules? — Module specification defines the tooth geometry and pitch of a gear. MOD1 gears have finer teeth than larger modules like MOD1.5 or MOD2, providing smoother operation and allowing for higher tooth counts in smaller spaces. MOD1 is the most common specification for 1/10 and smaller RC cars in the UK hobby market, making it the safest choice for compatibility.
