Overview
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil 9000CST is a premium differential oil designed for serious RC car enthusiasts and competitors across the UK who demand consistency and performance from their drivetrain setup. This specially formulated silicone-based oil has been rigorously tested and developed over 12 months by some of Europe's leading drivers, ensuring it delivers the reliability and tunability that separates winners from the rest. Whether you're running an off-road buggy, crawler, or any RC car that requires precise differential tuning, this 9000 cSt viscosity oil offers the exact balance of flow and film strength needed for optimal performance.
What sets Fastrax oils apart in the competitive RC car market is the extensive real-world testing they've undergone. Drivers tested these oils in conditions ranging from the intense heat of Spain to the unpredictable rain and variable temperatures of the UK, ensuring the oil maintains its consistency and performance across all climates and racing scenarios. This commitment to thorough development means you're not buying a generic off-the-shelf product—you're investing in oil that's been proven by professionals who understand exactly what modern RC cars demand from their differentials.
The 9000 cSt viscosity rating positions this oil in the higher-viscosity range, making it ideal for drivers who need a thicker, more stable differential film under aggressive driving conditions. Whether you're bashing on rough terrain, competing in organized races, or fine-tuning your RC car's handling characteristics, Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil gives you the performance foundation you need. The easy-pour lid design ensures that changing or adjusting your differential oil is quick and straightforward, eliminating the mess and frustration that often accompanies maintenance work on RC cars.

Technical Performance
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil 9000CST represents a significant advancement in RC car maintenance products, delivering the kind of performance-oriented engineering that competitive drivers demand. At 9000 cSt, this oil sits in the thicker viscosity range, providing a robust protective film within your differential that resists breakdown under the intense shearing forces generated during aggressive acceleration, cornering, and braking. Pure silicone construction ensures the oil maintains this viscosity stability across a wide temperature window, preventing the thinning that occurs with lower-quality oils during hot summer racing sessions or the thickening that can occur in cooler UK conditions. The molecular structure of silicone-based oils also provides superior water separation characteristics, meaning if moisture enters your differential during wet-weather running or after washing your RC car, the oil naturally sheds the water rather than emulsifying and losing its protective properties. Professional drivers involved in the 12-month development and testing phase specifically praised the consistency of this oil—the way it delivers predictable differential behaviour from the first lap through extended driving sessions. This predictability is crucial for competitive RC car racing, where even small variations in differential performance can affect lap times and handling characteristics. The oil has been validated in extreme conditions from Mediterranean heat to British rainfall and variable temperatures, confirming its reliability across all European climates and the diverse weather conditions UK RC enthusiasts regularly encounter. Whether you're running high-speed buggy racing, technical crawler work, or weekend bashing with your RC car, this oil provides the engineering excellence and proven performance that distinguishes professional-grade products from basic alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 9000 cSt viscosity rating mean for my RC car? — CST stands for centistoke, a unit measuring oil thickness. A 9000 cSt rating means this is a premium-weight oil that's considerably thicker than lighter alternatives, providing a stronger protective film in your differential under aggressive driving. This thickness is ideal if you drive competitively, bash hard on rough terrain, or need maximum differential stability under demanding conditions. If you're unsure whether 9000 cSt is right for your setup, you can always try multiple viscosity options from the Fastrax range to find what works best for your particular car and driving style.
- Is Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. While this oil is competition-proven and used by professional drivers, it's equally suitable for beginners and hobbyists. Differential oil is a maintenance product that all RC cars need, regardless of skill level. Beginners benefit from using quality, professional-grade oil just as much as experienced racers, as it protects their differentials from wear and makes their cars more reliable and easier to maintain. The easy-pour lid design even makes the product beginner-friendly when it comes to changing or adjusting your differential.
- What type of RC cars does this diff oil work with? — Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil is a universal differential oil compatible with virtually all RC cars that use a differential: buggies, trucks, crawlers, on-road racing cars, stadium trucks, and more. It works with RC cars from all major manufacturers including Traxxas, Losi, Associated, HPI, Tamiya, Mugen, Axial, and others. The only requirement is that your RC car has a differential unit—and nearly all high-performance models do.
- How much oil do I need per differential change? — The exact amount depends on your specific RC car model, but most standard differentials require only a small amount—typically around 2-5ml per differential unit. A 50ml bottle is sufficient for multiple differential changes or adjustments, making it excellent value. You might want to stock several bottles of different viscosities if you regularly tune your car for different track conditions or weather.
- What is the difference between 9000 cSt and lighter Fastrax oils? — Fastrax offers the entire viscosity range to enable precise tuning. Lower viscosity oils (like 1000 or 3000 cSt) flow more freely and are better for loose terrain, tight differential action, and cooler conditions. At 9000 cSt, this oil is substantially thicker, providing more differential locking effect, better protection under aggressive driving, and more stability in high-speed competitive conditions. Drivers involved in Fastrax's development commented that they could easily tune their cars for all conditions by having the full range available—which is why many serious enthusiasts keep multiple viscosities on hand.
- Is this pure silicone better than synthetic or mineral oils? — Yes, pure silicone formulation offers significant advantages. Silicone oils maintain viscosity stability across temperature ranges better than mineral or standard synthetic oils, meaning they perform reliably whether you're driving in summer heat or winter cold—important for UK drivers who experience variable weather. Silicone also has superior water separation properties, shedding moisture rather than emulsifying, which protects your differential if it gets wet during rain racing or after cleaning your RC car. Professional drivers specifically chose these oils over alternatives, a testament to their superior performance characteristics.
- Can I mix this with other brands of differential oil? — While it's theoretically possible, it's not recommended. Different oil brands and formulations can have different additives and properties that might not be compatible when mixed. If you're changing differential oils, it's best practice to completely drain the old oil and refill with the new oil. This ensures you get the consistent, predictable performance that Fastrax oils are engineered to deliver.
- How often should I change my differential oil? — This depends on your driving frequency and conditions. Competitive drivers often change oil between races or major events, while recreational drivers might change it several times per season. If you notice your differential isn't as responsive as usual, or if you're moving to significantly different track conditions, a fresh oil change is worthwhile. Many drivers simply establish a maintenance routine—perhaps changing oil monthly during racing season or after several hours of driving.
