Overview

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil 1000CST is a premium differential lubricant engineered for precision RC car performance. This specialised oil is designed for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand consistency, reliability and performance tuning capability. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or serious RC car UK hobbyist, having the right diff oil is crucial for maintaining smooth differential operation and ensuring your vehicle handles predictably across all track conditions.

This 1000 CST variant represents a medium-weight option within Fastrax's extensive oil range, making it suitable for a wide variety of RC cars and driving conditions. The 50ml bottle provides ample quantity for multiple diff servicing and adjustments. Diff oil viscosity affects how quickly your differential locks and unlocks, which directly impacts cornering speed, stability and overall handling characteristics. Choosing the correct weight oil can mean the difference between victory and defeat in competitive racing.

Fastrax has invested considerable engineering effort into developing this new range of oils over the last twelve months, working directly with some of Europe's leading drivers to ensure the product meets the exacting demands of modern RC racing. The resulting formula offers exceptional consistency and smooth progression through their comprehensive range of viscosity options, allowing you to precisely dial in your car's performance for virtually any track condition or driving style.

Key Features

  • Pure Silicone Formula — Silicone-based oils provide superior stability across temperature ranges and maintain consistent viscosity whether you're racing in the heat of summer or the cooler UK autumn conditions, ensuring your differential performs reliably throughout the season.
  • 1000 CST Viscosity Rating — This medium-weight formulation suits a broad range of RC vehicles and is particularly versatile for drivers who want a balanced setup that works well in moderate conditions without requiring frequent oil changes for different weather.
  • Extensively Field-Tested — Developed through rigorous testing in diverse European conditions ranging from the heat of Spain to the rain of the UK, this oil has been proven in real-world racing scenarios by professional drivers, giving you confidence in its performance credentials.
  • Exceptional Consistency and Progression — Drivers involved in the development process noted they have never encountered oils offering as much consistency and progression through the complete range as these Fastrax formulations, meaning you can fine-tune your vehicle with precision.
  • Easy-Pour Lid Design — The convenient pour spout makes changing and adjusting your diff oil quick and straightforward, transforming what can be a messy chore into a moment's work, allowing you to spend more time racing and less time on maintenance.
  • 50ml Bottle Size — The practical 50ml capacity provides sufficient oil for multiple servicing operations, making it excellent value and reducing the need for frequent reordering when you're actively tuning your RC car.
  • Comprehensive Range Available — Fastrax offers this oil in multiple viscosity grades from 500 CST through to 500,000 CST, enabling you to select the perfect weight for your specific driving style, vehicle setup and local track conditions.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Diff Oil 1000CST delivers exceptional thermal stability and viscosity consistency essential for precision RC car performance. At 1000 CST, this oil provides a medium viscosity that balances differential responsiveness with adequate film strength to protect gear teeth and bearing surfaces. Silicone-based formulations inherently resist viscosity breakdown across temperature variations, critical when your RC car transitions from a warm garage to a cold UK winter track or experiences temperature fluctuations during extended racing sessions. The pure silicone construction means this oil resists oxidation and maintains its protective properties over extended use, ensuring your differential gears remain protected and your car's handling characteristics remain predictable. The engineering philosophy behind this oil prioritises consistency—users report that across the entire Fastrax oil range, progression between viscosity grades is smooth and logical, allowing competitive drivers to make incremental tuning adjustments with confidence. Unlike cheaper mineral-based oils that may change viscosity unpredictably with temperature, this premium silicone formulation maintains precise characteristics, enabling repeatable setups and fair performance comparisons during tuning sessions. The advanced formula was developed in partnership with European racing teams, incorporating their feedback from competitive environments and ensuring the oil performs reliably whether you're on a smooth carpet track or an outdoor dirt circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What CST rating should I choose for my RC car? — The CST (centistoke) rating determines how thick the oil is and how quickly your differential locks and unlocks. Lower CST values (500-2000) suit loose, slippery tracks where you want more differential action for traction. Medium values like this 1000 CST work well in moderate conditions and suit a broad range of vehicles. Higher CST values (3000+) are ideal for high-grip tracks or cars requiring locked-up differentials for stability. Start with 1000 CST and adjust based on your track conditions and driving feel.
  • How often should I change my diff oil? — Diff oil should be inspected regularly and changed if it becomes contaminated with dirt, metal particles, or has degraded visibly. For competitive racing, many drivers change their diff oil several times per season or even between rounds. For casual bashing, inspect every few months and change as needed. The easy-pour lid on this Fastrax oil makes regular servicing straightforward.
  • Will this oil work in my specific RC car? — This diff oil is compatible with any RC vehicle featuring a spur gear or bevel gear differential system. This includes most 1/10 scale buggies, trucks, and touring cars, as well as many 1/8 scale vehicles. Check your vehicle manual to confirm it has a lubricated differential that accepts oil (not all sealed differentials require oil), and verify whether your differential uses spur or bevel gears, as this may influence your CST choice.
  • How does Fastrax oil compare to other brands? — Fastrax oils have been extensively developed over twelve months with input from leading European racing drivers. Users consistently report superior consistency and smooth progression across the complete viscosity range compared to competing products. The easy-pour lid is also a practical advantage over many competitors whose bottles are difficult to use precisely.
  • Is 1000 CST suitable for beginners? — Yes, 1000 CST is an excellent starting point for RC drivers new to diff oil tuning. It's a moderate viscosity that works reasonably well across different conditions without requiring extensive setup knowledge. As your skills develop and you become familiar with how diff oil affects your car's handling, you can experiment with lighter or heavier weights to fine-tune performance.
  • What makes silicone oil better than mineral oil? — Silicone-based oils maintain consistent viscosity across a wider temperature range than mineral oils. They resist oxidation better and don't break down as quickly, meaning your differential performs more predictably whether racing on a warm summer day or a cold UK winter evening. This consistency is particularly valuable in competitive environments where repeatability is essential.
