Overview
The Etronix 16AWG Silicone Wire in Blue is an essential electrical component for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliable, high-quality wiring solutions for their remote control models. Whether you're building a custom RC car, setting up a brushless RC system, or maintaining your existing RC hobby equipment, this professional-grade silicone cable delivers the performance and durability you need. Supplied as a generous 100cm (1 metre) length, this blue silicone multi-core cable is engineered to handle the demands of modern RC racing, bashing, and competitive applications where electrical reliability is paramount.
Silicone insulation is the gold standard in RC applications because it withstands the vibration, heat, and mechanical stress that comes with high-performance RC vehicles. Unlike standard PVC cables, silicone wire maintains its flexibility even in cold conditions and resists degradation from repeated flexing, UV exposure, and contact with fuel or oils commonly found in RC environments. This makes it the preferred choice for RC model builders, racing teams, and hobby enthusiasts who understand that cutting corners on wiring can lead to connection failures, power loss, and damaged electronics. The Etronix brand is recognised across the RC community for delivering quality electrical components at competitive prices, making this an excellent choice for anyone serious about their RC setup.
At 16AWG gauge, this cable is perfectly suited for a wide range of RC applications where you need a balance between flexibility and current-carrying capacity. The vibrant blue colour makes it easy to identify positive circuits or colour-code your wiring loom, improving both aesthetics and maintenance efficiency. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor with years of experience, a weekend basher who enjoys pushing their RC truck or buggy to the limit, or someone just discovering the hobby for the first time, having quality silicone wire in your parts box is essential for building, repairing, and upgrading your RC models with confidence.
Key Features
- 16AWG Gauge Rating — This wire gauge provides an optimal balance between flexibility and current-carrying capacity, making it suitable for a wide variety of RC electrical applications from motor connections to receiver wiring and ESC integration in 1/10, 1/8, and smaller scale RC vehicles.
- High-Quality Silicone Insulation — Silicone shielding offers superior flexibility compared to standard PVC cables, allowing the wire to bend and flex repeatedly without cracking or degrading, which is essential in vibration-prone RC environments where wires must route through tight spaces on RC buggies, trucks, and cars.
- 100cm Length Supply — One metre of continuous cable gives you excellent flexibility for custom routing, wire looms, and multiple connections, reducing the need to solder multiple short segments and improving the reliability of your RC electrical system.
- Multi-Core Construction — The stranded copper core design provides superior flexibility and durability compared to solid-core wire, allowing the cable to move freely without fatigue cracking even after thousands of hours of RC use in competitive or recreational settings.
- Professional Blue Colour — The distinctive blue colour scheme helps with circuit identification and colour-coded wiring looms, improving both the visual presentation of your RC model and making troubleshooting and maintenance significantly easier.
- Temperature Resistant — Silicone insulation maintains its properties across a wide temperature range, performing reliably whether you're racing your RC car in summer heat or winter conditions, and withstanding the heat generated by high-current motor and ESC applications.
- Chemical and Oil Resistant — Silicone wire resists degradation from contact with RC fuels, lubricants, and cleaning solvents, making it ideal for nitro RC vehicles and models where fuel and oil exposure is inevitable.
Technical Performance
The Etronix 16AWG Silicone Wire represents professional-grade electrical engineering designed specifically for the demanding requirements of RC hobbyists. The 16AWG gauge converts to approximately 1.63 millimetres in metric dimensions, positioning it perfectly as a versatile medium-duty cable suitable for a broad spectrum of RC applications. The multi-core silicone construction offers exceptional flexibility compared to standard PVC-insulated cables, a critical advantage when routing wiring through the tight engine bays, chassis tunnels, and body cavities found in 1/10 scale RC buggies, touring cars, stadium trucks, and larger 1/8 scale RC vehicles. The stranded copper core, combined with high-quality silicone insulation, ensures low voltage drop over the 100cm length whilst maintaining complete mechanical flexibility even after thousands of cycles of vibration and movement. Silicone's inherent properties make it resistant to the temperature fluctuations common in RC driving, from cold winter conditions that would make PVC brittle and prone to cracking, through to the sustained heat generated by high-current brushless motors and modern ESC systems. The wire's chemical resistance makes it particularly valuable for nitro RC enthusiasts whose vehicles are exposed to fuel, nitromethane, lubricants, and various cleaning solvents throughout the season. Whether you're integrating brushless motor systems, connecting high-capacity LiPo batteries, or building custom wiring harnesses for your RC transmission, this professional-grade silicone cable delivers the reliability and durability expected by serious RC competitors and hobbyists across the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is 16AWG silicone wire used for in RC models? — 16AWG silicone wire is a versatile component used for motor connections, battery leads, ESC connections, receiver wiring, and custom harness building in RC cars, buggies, trucks, and other electric RC vehicles. The gauge provides excellent current-carrying capacity whilst maintaining the flexibility needed for routing through tight RC chassis spaces.
- Can I use this wire with brushless RC motors and LiPo batteries? — Yes, absolutely. The 16AWG gauge and multi-core silicone construction make this wire ideal for brushless RC applications and LiPo battery systems. The silicone insulation handles the heat generated by high-current brushless motors and provides the reliability you need for modern RC racing and bashing.
- Is 100cm enough for a typical RC car build? — One metre of continuous cable is sufficient for most single RC vehicle builds, allowing you to route motor leads, battery connections, and ESC wiring with flexibility to spare. For multiple vehicles or complex custom wiring looms, you may want to purchase additional lengths.
- What is the metric equivalent of 16AWG? — According to the manufacturer specifications, 16AWG converts to approximately 1.63 millimetres in metric dimensions, providing a useful reference for those familiar with metric wire sizing standards.
- Why is silicone better than standard PVC cable for RC use? — Silicone insulation offers superior flexibility, temperature resistance, and durability compared to PVC. It maintains its properties in both cold and hot conditions, resists cracking from repeated flexing, and is chemical-resistant to RC fuels and lubricants, making it the professional choice for serious RC hobbyists.
- Is this suitable for beginners building their first RC vehicle? — Yes, this is an excellent choice for beginners. Professional-grade silicone wire ensures your first RC build has reliable electrical connections from the start. The 100cm length provides plenty of material for learning proper wiring techniques and building confidence with your RC project.
- What colour-coded wiring standards should I follow? — This blue cable is ideal as a positive lead in colour-coded wiring systems, though it can be used for any circuit where blue identification is preferred. When building custom harnesses, consistency in colour-coding improves maintenance and troubleshooting of your RC electrical systems.
