These medium-rate springs are engineered to work seamlessly with the GT24B's plastic oil-shock absorber system, providing the perfect balance between ride comfort and responsive handling for a variety of track conditions and driving styles.
The GT24B has earned its reputation as one of the most capable and customisable micro rally cars available to UK RC car enthusiasts today. Its modular design philosophy means that suspension tuning plays a crucial role in extracting maximum performance from the chassis. This spring pair allows you to dial in the exact suspension stiffness your driving style demands, whether you prefer a softer setup for technical courses with more vertical travel, or a firmer platform for maintaining precision through tight rally sections. Medium springs represent the sweet spot for most drivers, offering a versatile platform that works well across different surface types and driving conditions.
Carisma's commitment to providing comprehensive spare parts and options for their vehicles means you'll always have access to the components needed to maintain and upgrade your GT24B. These springs are manufactured to Carisma's exacting standards, ensuring compatibility and reliability with your plastic oil-shock assemblies. As an authorised Carisma retailer in the UK, RC Model Shop stocks genuine Carisma components, giving you confidence that you're purchasing authentic parts that will integrate perfectly with your RC rally car.

Technical Performance
The suspension system in micro-scale RC cars like the GT24B represents a critical engineering challenge, as designers must balance precise handling characteristics with the extremely compact dimensions inherent to 1/24th scale vehicles. The GT24B's plastic oil-shock system incorporates oil-damped suspension chambers that work in harmony with spring rates to control vertical motion and maintain consistent chassis attitude through corners and over obstacles. Medium-rate springs sit at the centre of the spring rate spectrum offered by Carisma for the GT24B platform, typically paired with standard oil volumes to create a neutral handling balance. The plastic shock bodies themselves are engineered to provide adequate strength whilst keeping unsprung mass minimal, which is critical at this scale where every gram affects acceleration and deceleration characteristics. When combined with appropriate shock oil viscosity and spring preload adjustment (available separately as tuning components), these medium springs enable fine control over your GT24B's suspension compliance, allowing the chassis to absorb small track imperfections whilst maintaining the stiffness needed for precise weight transfer during cornering. The spring rate directly influences ride height, anti-roll characteristics, and the degree of chassis squat under acceleration or dive under braking—making these seemingly simple components absolutely vital to overall vehicle performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these medium springs fit my GT24B rally car? — Yes, these springs are specifically engineered for the Carisma GT24B's plastic oil-shock system and will integrate directly into your existing shock assemblies without modification. They also fit the GT24TR and GT24R variants that share the same suspension design.
- How do I know which spring rate is right for me? — Spring rate selection depends on your driving style and the surfaces you typically race on. Medium springs like these are the most versatile choice, suitable for most drivers across varied conditions. If you find your chassis sitting too high and feeling floaty, you might want to try harder springs. If it feels too stiff and bouncy, softer springs could be the answer. Many drivers keep multiple spring sets in their pit box for rapid tuning between different track conditions.
- What's the difference between these plastic shock springs and the metal shock springs available for GT24B? — The GT24B is available with both plastic and aluminium oil-shock options, each with their own spring sets. These springs are specifically designed for the plastic shock bodies, which have different geometry and mounting points than the aluminium alternatives. Using the correct spring type for your shock style ensures proper fitment and suspension geometry. The aluminium shock system offers adjustable preload and different performance characteristics, whilst the plastic system provides a simpler, lightweight solution.
- Can I use these springs on other Carisma models? — These springs are specifically designed for the GT24B plastic oil-shock system. Whilst you may find they physically fit other Carisma models like the GT24TR or GT24R that share similar suspension architecture, we recommend checking Carisma's compatibility documentation before attempting to use them on other platforms. Different models may require different spring rates due to variations in chassis weight distribution and design.
- Do I need to change shock oil when installing new springs? — Changing springs does not require changing shock oil, though many enthusiasts perform complete shock servicing when doing suspension work. If your shocks are performing well otherwise, you can simply swap out the old springs for the new medium rate springs. However, if you notice oil leakage or inconsistent damping, a complete shock service with fresh oil is recommended.
- How do spring rate changes affect my GT24B's handling? — Springs directly influence several handling characteristics: stiffer springs (like moving up from soft to medium) will raise ride height, reduce chassis roll in corners, and provide a firmer platform for more aggressive driving; softer springs lower the ride height, allow greater vertical travel for better traction on bumpy surfaces, and provide a more compliant feel. Experimenting with different spring rates is one of the most impactful tuning modifications you can make to a micro-scale RC rally car.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Spring replacement is an excellent beginner-friendly modification. It requires no special tools or technical knowledge beyond basic RC vehicle maintenance familiarity. If you can access your shock towers, you can change springs. This makes it perfect for new drivers wanting to begin understanding suspension tuning without tackling more complex modifications.
