Overview

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 55 WT is an essential maintenance product for anyone serious about keeping their RC car performing at its peak. Whether you're running a competitive 1/10 scale buggy, a high-speed short course truck, or a weekend basher, shock absorber oil is one of the most critical fluids you'll use in your RC hobby. This premium silicone oil from Team Corally is specifically formulated to provide consistent damping performance in shock absorbers, ensuring your RC car maintains optimal suspension response across a wide range of driving conditions and temperatures.

For RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability and precision from their RC cars, having the correct shock oil viscosity is fundamental. The 55 WT (weight) rating makes this product ideal for a broad spectrum of RC applications, offering a balanced viscosity that works well in most standard shock absorber designs. Whether you're upgrading your shocks, performing regular maintenance on an existing setup, or simply topping up your shock fluid after months of intensive use, this 150ml bottle provides ample supply for multiple refills and adjustments. The 55 WT viscosity sits in the sweet spot for general RC car use, offering good flow characteristics whilst maintaining adequate damping force without being too thick or too thin.

What sets this Corally shock oil apart is its ultra-pure silicone formulation. This matters because pure silicone oils provide superior consistency and stability compared to lower-grade alternatives. When you're trying to dial in the perfect suspension setup for your RC car, you need a damping fluid that behaves predictably and consistently, lap after lap. The ultra-pure composition ensures minimal variation in viscosity performance, which translates directly into more repeatable handling characteristics and better overall vehicle control during high-speed runs or technical courses.

Key Features

  • 55 WT Viscosity Grade — This medium viscosity rating provides an ideal balance for most RC car applications, offering sufficient damping without being so thick that suspension response becomes sluggish or so thin that damping control is lost during aggressive driving.
  • 100% Pure Silicone Oil — The ultra-pure silicone formulation ensures consistent performance and stability across temperature ranges, preventing viscosity breakdown that can occur with lower-quality oils and maintaining predictable shock behaviour throughout extended driving sessions.
  • 150ml Bottle Size — This generous 150ml volume allows you to refill multiple shocks completely or make fine viscosity adjustments by mixing with different weights, giving you flexibility in tuning your RC car's suspension to suit different track conditions or driving styles.
  • Precision Damping Control — Using the correct shock oil viscosity allows RC drivers to achieve precise control over suspension stiffness and rebound characteristics, which is critical for competitive racing and technical driving where every millisecond of handling response matters.
  • Temperature Stability — Pure silicone oils maintain their viscosity characteristics across a wider temperature range than synthetic alternatives, meaning your shock performance remains consistent whether you're racing in summer heat or cooler autumn conditions typical in the UK.
  • Easy Application — The 150ml bottle design allows for straightforward pouring and filling of shock absorbers without mess, and the consistent viscosity rating makes it simple to match specifications across your entire RC car's suspension system.
  • Compatible with Standard Shocks — This 55 WT oil works with most standard RC car shock absorbers from leading manufacturers, making it a versatile maintenance product for anyone with multiple RC vehicles or a growing fleet of RC cars.

Technical Performance

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 55 WT represents a significant step up in suspension tuning capability for serious RC car enthusiasts. Shock absorber oil viscosity directly influences how your RC car's suspension responds to bumps, acceleration forces, and cornering loads. A 55 WT rating falls into the medium viscosity category, making it suitable for a wide variety of RC applications including 1/10 scale buggies, truggies, stadium trucks, and short course vehicles. The ultra-pure silicone formulation means there are fewer impurities and additives that could degrade over time or cause inconsistent damping characteristics. This is particularly important for competitive RC racing, where suspension consistency between practice runs and race rounds can mean the difference between victory and defeat. The 150ml volume provides substantial supply — enough to completely refill multiple shocks or to perform multiple viscosity experiments if you're dialling in your suspension setup. In the UK RC racing community, using quality shock oils like this Corally product is considered essential for maintaining competitive standards. The pure silicone construction resists temperature variation better than blended formulations, which is crucial when racing outdoors where ambient temperatures can fluctuate significantly throughout the day. For weekend bashers and casual RC car users, this oil ensures your shocks continue functioning smoothly and reliably throughout the season. Professional tuners and club racers appreciate the consistency that ultra-pure silicone offers, as it eliminates variables that could mask genuine setup improvements or mask poor chassis tuning decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 55 WT viscosity rating mean for my RC car? — WT stands for weight and indicates the viscosity or thickness of the oil. A 55 WT is considered a medium-weight silicone oil, suitable for most standard RC car shock absorbers. Lower numbers like 30 WT create thinner, faster-responding shocks ideal for bumpy terrain, whilst higher viscosities like 90 WT create stiffer damping for smoother tracks. The 55 WT hits the sweet spot for general RC car use and is an excellent starting point if you're new to shock oil tuning.
  • Is Corally shock oil suitable for all RC cars? — This 55 WT Corally silicone oil is compatible with standard shock absorbers found on most 1/10 scale RC buggies, truggies, stadium trucks, and short course vehicles. However, always check your specific RC car's manual or shock absorber documentation to confirm the recommended viscosity. Some high-end competition shocks may specify particular viscosity grades, so verification is important before filling.
  • How long will this 150ml bottle last? — A single 150ml bottle can completely refill approximately 4-6 standard shock absorbers depending on shock design and fill volume. If you're making viscosity adjustments by mixing different weights, a single bottle can last considerably longer as you'll be using smaller amounts for experimental setups. Serious racers might go through a bottle every few months with regular maintenance; casual users might use one bottle per season.
  • Can I mix different shock oil viscosities together? — Yes, mixing different viscosity silicone oils is a common tuning technique in the RC hobby. By combining 55 WT with lighter (30 WT) or heavier (90 WT) oils, you can create intermediate viscosities tailored to specific track conditions or driving styles. This versatility is one reason why serious RC enthusiasts keep multiple viscosity grades on hand. However, always mix thoroughly and ensure you record the ratio used so you can replicate successful setups.
  • What is ultra-pure silicone and why does it matter? — Ultra-pure silicone oil contains minimal impurities and additives, resulting in more consistent performance and longer-lasting effectiveness. Lower-quality shock oils contain fillers and additives that can break down over time, especially when exposed to heat from intensive use or UV light during outdoor racing. The ultra-pure formulation in this Corally product means your shock damping characteristics remain stable and predictable throughout an entire racing season, which is critical for maintaining consistent lap times and handling feel.
  • Is this product suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst shock tuning can become quite technical and involved, simply using the correct viscosity grade is straightforward. Beginners should use the 55 WT as their standard oil and not overthink viscosity selection initially. As your RC car skills improve and you become more familiar with handling characteristics, you can experiment with different viscosity grades to fine-tune performance. Starting with a single quality 55 WT bottle is the perfect beginner approach to shock maintenance.
  • How should I store this shock oil? — Store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can degrade the silicone over time. Keep the cap tightly sealed when not in use to prevent dust or debris from contaminating the oil. Properly stored silicone shock oil remains viable for years, though it's best used within a reasonable timeframe after opening to ensure maximum consistency and performance.
