Overview

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 27.5 WT is an essential maintenance product for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision and reliability in their RC cars. Whether you're running a competitive 1/10 RC buggy, a high-speed RC truck, or any ready to run RC model with adjustable shock absorbers, this premium silicone shock oil is specifically formulated to keep your suspension performing at its absolute best. Shock oil is one of the most critical consumables in RC racing and casual bashing alike, as it directly affects how your vehicle handles bumps, maintains stability through corners, and responds to track conditions.

This bottle contains 150ml of ultra-pure silicone shock oil at 27.5 WT viscosity, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of RC applications. Team Corally's reputation for quality extends to their fluid products, and this shock oil represents the kind of attention to detail that separates weekend bashers from serious RC competitors. The 27.5 WT viscosity sits comfortably in the mid-range, making it suitable for many different driving styles and track conditions, whether you're enjoying casual off-road fun or preparing your brushless RC car for competition.

RC Model Shop stocks this product because we understand that proper maintenance and tuning are fundamental to getting the best performance from your RC investment. Whether you're new to RC and discovering the importance of shock oil for the first time, or you're an experienced competitor fine-tuning your vehicle's suspension, this Corally product delivers consistent quality and reliability that UK RC enthusiasts have come to trust.

Key Features

  • Ultra Pure Silicone Formulation — This shock oil is manufactured from 100% pure silicone, which means it delivers consistent viscosity performance across a wide temperature range and won't break down during extended RC sessions, ensuring your suspension maintains predictable handling characteristics throughout your driving day.
  • 27.5 WT Viscosity Grade — The WT (weight) marking indicates this is a mid-range viscosity that works well for general-purpose RC use, balancing responsiveness with damping stability, making it an excellent choice for tuning shock absorbers in most RC buggies, trucks, and crawlers without requiring specialised knowledge.
  • 150ml Bottle Size — A practical bottle size that provides multiple shock refills depending on your RC model, allowing you to maintain several vehicles or have backup supply without excessive waste, which is particularly valuable for competitive RC drivers who may run multiple cars through a season.
  • Consistent Damping Performance — Silicone shock oils provide smooth, predictable damping that helps your RC car maintain traction and stability during acceleration, braking and cornering, which is why serious RC racers across the UK specify silicone shock oil rather than alternative fluids.
  • Temperature Stability — Pure silicone formulations maintain their viscosity characteristics across temperature variations, ensuring your RC car's suspension behaviour remains consistent whether you're racing in summer heat or winter conditions across the UK.
  • Easy Bottle Design — The 150ml container features a convenient pour spout that makes filling shock absorbers quick and clean, reducing mess and spillage during the maintenance process, which saves time and frustration during RC track sessions.

Technical Performance

Shock oil is a fundamental tuning component in RC vehicles, and understanding its role is essential for anyone serious about RC car performance. The viscosity rating of 27.5 WT determines how quickly the oil flows through the shock absorber's internal passages and damping structures. This mid-range viscosity provides a balanced approach: it's thin enough to allow responsive suspension movement when your RC car hits bumps or accelerates hard, but thick enough to provide adequate damping that prevents the shocks from bottoming out or becoming too soft. For typical RC applications in the UK market, including 1/10 scale RC buggies, RC monster trucks, RC short course trucks, and RC crawlers, 27.5 WT represents a reliable starting point that works well for many different driving styles and track conditions. The ultra-pure silicone formulation means there are no contaminants or additives that might affect long-term stability or interact unpredictably with your vehicle's seals and internal shock components. Many RC competitors maintain multiple viscosity ratings to fine-tune handling for different conditions—thicker oils (like 30 WT or 35 WT) provide more damping resistance for rough or high-speed tracks, while thinner oils (like 25 WT) allow more responsive movement for technical terrain. This 27.5 WT option sits perfectly in the middle, making it an ideal all-purpose choice and an excellent backup supply. The 150ml quantity is enough for multiple shock refills, and having quality backup shock oil on hand is essential for any serious RC enthusiast, whether you're maintaining a brushless RC truck for weekend bashing or running a competitive programme with your local RC club.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity of shock oil should I use for my RC car? — Shock oil viscosity is measured in WT (weight) grades, and the correct choice depends on your specific RC model, driving style, and track conditions. The 27.5 WT grade in this product is a mid-range viscosity suitable for most RC applications, making it an excellent choice for recreational driving and general tuning. If you find your suspension feels too soft and the shocks bottom out easily, you might try a thicker oil (30+ WT). If the suspension feels too stiff and doesn't respond quickly enough to bumps, a thinner oil (25 WT) might be better. Most RC drivers keep several viscosity grades on hand for fine-tuning.
  • Is pure silicone shock oil essential for RC cars? — Yes, using proper silicone shock oil rather than household oils or alternative fluids is essential for RC performance and longevity. Silicone oils are specifically formulated to maintain consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, won't damage your vehicle's rubber seals, and provide the predictable damping performance that your RC car's suspension design requires. Using inferior oils can lead to inconsistent handling, seal damage, and shortened shock absorber life.
  • How often should I change shock oil in my RC car? — The frequency depends on how often you use your RC vehicle. Regular recreational drivers might refill or replace shock oil every few months or after 20-30 hours of running time. Competitive RC racers often change shock oil between events or even between track sessions to maintain peak performance. Water contamination from wet conditions or high humidity can degrade shock oil, so inspect your shocks regularly for signs of water ingress or discolouration.
  • Can I use 27.5 WT shock oil in any RC vehicle? — The 27.5 WT viscosity is suitable for most 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC buggies, RC trucks, and RC crawlers. However, the ideal viscosity for your specific model depends on the shock absorber design, your driving style, and track conditions. Check your RC model's manual for manufacturer recommendations, and if you're new to RC tuning, 27.5 WT is an excellent starting point that provides good all-around performance without requiring specialised knowledge.
  • Why is Team Corally shock oil a good choice for UK RC drivers? — Team Corally is a recognised European RC brand with a strong reputation for quality across all their products, from complete RC kits to maintenance fluids. Their shock oils are trusted by serious RC competitors and casual drivers alike because they deliver consistent performance and quality formulation. Using genuine branded shock oil ensures you're getting a properly formulated product rather than generic or inferior alternatives.
  • How much shock oil do I need for my RC car? — This depends on your shock absorber design and capacity. Most 1/10 scale RC vehicles require between 10-20ml per shock, meaning a 150ml bottle of this Corally shock oil will provide multiple refills for one vehicle, or refill supplies for several RC cars. This 150ml size is practical for most RC enthusiasts and represents excellent value compared to purchasing smaller bottles repeatedly.
