Overview

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 20 WT is a specialist suspension fluid designed specifically for RC shock absorbers. Whether you're running a competitive RC car on a UK track, enjoying weekend bashing with your RC buggy, or fine-tuning a precision off-road RC crawler, the right shock oil is absolutely essential to achieving consistent suspension performance. This 150ml bottle of ultra-pure silicone oil delivers the viscosity and quality that serious RC enthusiasts demand when they need to dial in their suspension geometry for maximum control and stability.

Shock oil might seem like a small consumable, but it plays a critical role in your RC vehicle's handling characteristics. The viscosity grade—in this case 20 WT—directly affects how your shocks absorb impacts, how quickly they compress and rebound, and ultimately how your RC car responds to bumps, jumps, and cornering forces. Corally's ultra-pure formulation ensures consistent performance across multiple fill cycles, meaning you get reliable, predictable suspension behaviour every time you head out to the track or the bash spot. This is the kind of maintenance item that separates casual RC owners from those who take their hobby seriously.

Available now from RC Model Shop, the Corally Shock Oil 20 WT is an essential part of any RC car enthusiast's workshop toolkit, whether you're running a 1/10 scale buggy, a 1/8 scale truck, or any other RC vehicle that relies on adjustable hydraulic suspension. Stock this fluid in your spares box today and ensure your shocks always perform at their best.

Key Features

  • Ultra Pure Silicone Formulation — This shock oil is manufactured from 100% pure silicone, which means it delivers consistent viscosity properties without contaminants or impurities that could affect suspension performance or gum up delicate shock components over time.
  • 20 WT Viscosity Grade — The 20 WT viscosity marking indicates a medium-weight fluid ideal for a broad range of track conditions and suspension setups, making it a versatile choice for most RC car enthusiasts who run various machines or experiment with suspension tuning.
  • 150ml Volume — The generous 150ml bottle size means you have enough shock oil for multiple shock rebuilds, repairs, and refills without running out mid-season, and the bottle format allows easy, controlled pouring into shock bodies.
  • Professional Quality — Manufactured by Team Corally, a brand trusted by RC competitors and hobby shops across Europe and the UK, this shock oil meets the standards expected by serious RC drivers who refuse to compromise on component quality.
  • Suspension Tuning Essential — Shock oil viscosity is one of the most critical tuning variables available to RC drivers; by stocking multiple viscosity grades, you can dial in your suspension precisely for the exact track conditions and driving style you prefer.

Technical Performance

Shock oil selection is a nuanced aspect of RC car tuning that directly impacts how your vehicle behaves on track. The 20 WT viscosity of this Corally product positions it as a medium-weight fluid suitable for general-purpose use across a variety of RC vehicles and conditions. Thicker oils (higher WT numbers like 30 WT or 40 WT) provide more resistance and slower suspension movement, which can help on bumpy tracks or when you want to reduce excessive bouncing. Thinner oils (lower WT numbers like 10 WT or 15 WT) allow shocks to move more freely and respond quickly to terrain changes, beneficial for smooth tracks or high-speed running. The 20 WT grade sits comfortably in the middle, making it an excellent starting point for most RC drivers before you venture into more specialised viscosity tuning. The ultra-pure silicone construction ensures the oil maintains consistent properties across temperature ranges and fill cycles, preventing the degradation or separation that can occur with lower-grade fluids. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK who are serious about suspension performance, investing in quality shock oil from recognised manufacturers like Corally is as important as choosing the right tyres or suspension geometry.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is shock oil and why do I need it for my RC car? — Shock oil is a hydraulic fluid that fills the shock absorber bodies on your RC vehicle. It controls how quickly the suspension compresses and extends, directly affecting how your car handles bumps, jumps, and cornering forces. Without shock oil, your suspension would not function, and different viscosity grades allow you to tune how soft or stiff your suspension feels, making shock oil selection a critical part of RC tuning.
  • What does the 20 WT rating mean? — WT stands for weight, and it's a measure of viscosity (thickness). 20 WT is a medium viscosity—thicker than 10 or 15 WT (which are thinner and faster-moving) but thinner than 30, 40, or 50 WT (which are thicker and slower-moving). The 20 WT grade is versatile enough for most RC drivers and track conditions, making it an excellent choice if you're unsure which viscosity to start with.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The 20 WT viscosity is considered a medium, all-purpose grade that works well for most RC vehicles and conditions. If you're new to shock tuning, starting with 20 WT is a sensible choice; once you gain experience, you can experiment with thicker or thinner oils to fine-tune your specific setup.
  • How much shock oil do I need per shock? — This depends on your specific shock design and model, but typically a shock absorber holds between 5-15ml of fluid. A 150ml bottle gives you plenty for multiple refills, repairs, and rebuilds, making it excellent value for money over a season of regular use.
  • Can I use this oil in any RC shock? — Shock oil is generally universal across RC vehicles of similar scale and type, so this Corally 20 WT should work in most 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC car shocks. However, always check your vehicle's manual or manufacturer guidance to confirm compatibility, as some specialist vehicles may have specific recommendations.
  • What is the difference between this and other shock oil brands? — The primary difference lies in purity and consistency. Corally's ultra-pure silicone formulation is manufactured to strict specifications, ensuring you get reliable, predictable performance without contaminants. Budget brands may contain impurities that can affect performance or damage shock components, so investing in quality oil from recognised brands like Corally is worthwhile for serious RC drivers.
  • How often should I replace my shock oil? — Shock oil should be replaced if it becomes contaminated with dirt, if it separates or discolours, or if you change your tuning setup and want to try a different viscosity. Well-maintained oil can last for many races or bashing sessions, but it's good practice to inspect it regularly and top up or replace as needed.
