Overview

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 450 CPS is a precision lubricant engineered specifically for high-performance RC car suspension systems. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC buggy, a dedicated RC enthusiast maintaining your RC truck, or an experienced RC car builder looking for professional-grade fluids, this shock oil delivers the consistency and purity required for optimal damper performance. Shock oil viscosity is critical to suspension setup—it directly affects how quickly your shocks compress and rebound, influencing handling, grip, and overall drivability on track or off-road.

This 450 CPS variant sits in the mid-range of the Corally Ultra Pure Silicone shock oil lineup, making it ideal for standard track conditions and general RC car maintenance. The 60ml bottle size is the industry standard for RC hobbyists, providing enough fluid to service multiple shock absorbers or refill as needed during a season of racing and bashing. Corally shock oils are formulated from ultra-pure silicone that resists breakdown, maintains consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, and won't damage seals or internal shock components—a critical consideration when investing in quality RC suspension systems.

Available in stock now at RC Model Shop, this shock oil is an essential consumable for anyone serious about getting the best performance from their RC vehicle's suspension. Whether you need to adjust damping characteristics, refresh aged shock fluid, or simply maintain your RC equipment to professional standards, the Corally 450 CPS shock oil is a trusted choice used by RC racers and enthusiasts across the UK.

Key Features

  • Ultra Pure Silicone Formula — This shock oil is manufactured from ultra-pure silicone, which means it contains minimal contaminants and maintains a stable viscosity throughout the suspension's operating range, ensuring consistent damping performance lap after lap or run after run.
  • 450 CPS Viscosity Rating — The 450 centipoise viscosity is a medium-weight specification that works well for standard track conditions and general RC car applications, providing a good balance between damping sensitivity and ease of adjustment, making it suitable for a wide range of driving styles and setups.
  • 60ml / 2oz Bottle Size — The generous 60ml capacity is sufficient to service multiple shock absorbers or provide backup fluid for seasonal maintenance, and the compact bottle size makes it easy to store, transport, and use in the pit or workshop.
  • Seal-Safe Formula — Unlike some lower-quality shock oils that can degrade rubber seals and internal shock components over time, this ultra-pure silicone formulation is specifically designed to be compatible with standard shock seals and materials, extending the life of your suspension components.
  • Professional-Grade Quality — Corally shock oils are trusted by competitive RC racers and serious hobbyists who understand that suspension tuning is essential to performance, and using quality fluids is part of maintaining a competitive setup.
  • Temperature Stable — The pure silicone formula resists viscosity breakdown in hot conditions and remains appropriately fluid in cooler weather, ensuring your suspension behaves consistently whether you're racing during summer heat or winter conditions in the UK.

Technical Performance

Shock oil viscosity is measured in centipoise (CPS), and the 450 CPS rating of this Corally fluid places it firmly in the mid-range of RC suspension tuning options. Heavier oils (higher CPS numbers like 600 CPS or 800 CPS) provide more resistance to compression and slower rebound, creating a more damped, controlled feel that's often preferred in high-speed racing or rough terrain where wheel control is critical. Lighter oils (lower CPS numbers like 350 CPS or 400 CPS) allow faster shock response and quicker rebound, offering more lively handling that many drivers prefer in technical courses or when maximum suspension compliance is desired. The 450 CPS viscosity bridges this gap, offering moderate damping that works well in most standard racing and bashing scenarios. The ultra-pure silicone base ensures that the fluid won't sludge, break down, or become sticky over extended use, which would otherwise alter the shock's performance and potentially damage internal seals. This formulation is compatible with all standard RC shock absorbers from any manufacturer—whether you're running shocks on a 1/10 scale buggy, a 1/8 nitro truck, or any other RC car platform. The 60ml bottle contains enough fluid for multiple shock services, making it an economical choice for regular maintenance. Professional RC teams and serious enthusiasts understand that shock oil is not a one-time purchase but an ongoing maintenance consumable, and having the correct viscosity on hand is essential to consistent performance tuning.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity shock oil should I use for my RC car? — Shock oil viscosity depends on your specific setup, track conditions, and driving style. The 450 CPS is a mid-range option that works well for most standard RC racing and bashing. Lighter oils like 350 CPS or 400 CPS provide faster shock response and more sensitive handling adjustments, while heavier oils like 500 CPS, 600 CPS, 700 CPS, or 800 CPS provide more damping resistance and slower rebound characteristics. Many racers keep multiple viscosities on hand to fine-tune suspension feel for different track conditions.
  • Is Corally shock oil compatible with my RC shocks? — Yes, Corally ultra-pure silicone shock oil is compatible with all standard RC shock absorbers regardless of manufacturer. The pure silicone formula is designed specifically to work with factory shock seals without causing degradation or leakage, making it safe to use in any quality RC suspension system.
  • How often should I change my shock oil? — For casual bashers, shock oil may last an entire season if maintained properly. For competitive racers, shock oil should be refreshed regularly—many professionals change it every few races or when they notice the shocks feeling less responsive. If you notice oil leaking from shocks, discolouration, or inconsistent damping feel, it's time to refresh the fluid.
  • How much shock oil do I need? — Most standard RC shock absorbers hold between 10ml and 15ml of oil each, so the 60ml bottle can service multiple shocks. The exact amount depends on your specific shock design—some larger shocks may require more fluid. It's always good to have extra on hand for maintenance and adjustments.
  • What's the difference between 450 CPS and other viscosities? — CPS (centipoise) measures fluid thickness. 350 CPS and 400 CPS are lighter and allow faster shock response; 450 CPS is mid-range; 500 CPS, 600 CPS, 700 CPS, and 800 CPS are progressively heavier and provide more damping resistance. Heavier oils slow compression and rebound, useful for high-speed racing or rough terrain. Lighter oils offer quicker response for technical tracks. The 450 CPS is a versatile middle ground suitable for most driving conditions.
  • Is this shock oil suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. While suspension tuning through shock oil viscosity adjustment is an advanced technique, using the correct shock oil is fundamental maintenance that all RC enthusiasts should understand. The 450 CPS is a sensible starting point, and as you develop your skills, you can experiment with different viscosities to fine-tune your vehicle's handling.
  • Does Corally shock oil work in extreme temperatures? — The ultra-pure silicone formula is relatively stable across typical operating temperatures encountered in RC racing and bashing. However, very cold conditions may thicken the oil slightly, whilst very hot conditions may thin it slightly. If you race in extreme seasonal conditions, you might choose a different viscosity to compensate, but for typical UK weather and standard usage, the 450 CPS performs consistently.
