Key Features
- Specially Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion gear is manufactured from premium hardened steel that has been specifically treated to deliver superior strength and exceptional durability, meaning it resists wear, stripping and fatigue even during intensive competition use and extended bashing sessions.
- CNC Ground Teeth for Perfect Tooth Form — Every single tooth on this pinion gear has been precisely ground using computer numerical control machinery to achieve absolutely perfect tooth geometry and concentricity, which eliminates vibration, reduces noise and ensures smooth, efficient meshing with your spur gear for longer component lifespan.
- European Manufacturing Excellence — This component is proudly produced in Europe to the highest industrial standards, ensuring consistent quality, tight tolerances and reliability that you can depend on for competitive racing or recreational RC activities.
- MOD1 Metric Pitch Standard — The M1.0 module specification means this pinion is fully compatible with all MOD1 spur gears and drivetrain components, allowing you to build and configure RC cars using a standardised, widely-available component ecosystem across brands and models.
- 23 Tooth Configuration — The 23-tooth count provides an excellent balance between acceleration response and top speed potential, making this gear suitable for a variety of track conditions, driving styles and RC vehicle types without requiring additional purchasing of alternative tooth counts.
- 5mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The ø5mm bore diameter fits standard motor shafts found on countless brushless and brushed RC motors, ensuring universal compatibility across popular RC car platforms and making this an accessible upgrade option for most RC enthusiasts.
- Easy Tooth Count Identification — Each gear is clearly marked with the tooth count, allowing you to quickly and accurately identify the correct pinion when managing a collection of spare parts, performing maintenance or setting up multiple RC vehicles.
- Short Format Design — The compact short-length design optimises space within your RC chassis whilst maintaining full structural integrity and strength, allowing for efficient drivetrain packaging and potentially improved weight distribution in your RC model.
- 2mm Hex Key Installation — The pinion gear is secured using a simple 2mm hex key (Allen key), making installation, removal and maintenance quick and straightforward for any RC hobbyist without requiring specialist tools.
- Precise 6.2mm Teeth Width — The teeth width specification ensures perfect engagement with standard spur gears, preventing lateral play whilst maintaining smooth rotational characteristics and even load distribution across the complete tooth profile.
Technical Performance
This Corally pinion gear exemplifies modern RC component engineering, combining premium material science with precision manufacturing to deliver a component that performs consistently under demanding conditions. The hardened steel construction isn't merely marketing terminology—it represents a deliberate metallurgical process that increases tensile strength, wear resistance and fatigue tolerance compared to standard untreated steel alternatives. The teeth, measuring exactly 13mm in length and 6.2mm in width, have been ground to tolerances measured in fractions of millimetres, ensuring that the tooth profile meshes flawlessly with compatible spur gears without introducing vibration, noise or inefficiency into the drivetrain.
The 23-tooth specification is strategically positioned in the mid-range of common pinion options, offering enthusiasts using RC cars UK-wide a sensible balance between explosive acceleration for tight technical corners and sufficient top-speed capability for high-speed sections. When paired with a 65-tooth spur gear—one of the most popular configurations in competitive and recreational RC racing—this pinion delivers a 2.83:1 reduction ratio that provides responsive handling characteristics whilst maintaining satisfying velocity. The MOD1 metric pitch standard ensures compatibility not just with Corally components but with an extensive ecosystem of aftermarket parts from multiple manufacturers, giving you flexibility to experiment with different gear ratios and configurations without being locked into a single brand's product line.
Built-in quality control measures including CNC verification of tooth form and concentricity mean that every gear maintains extremely tight tolerances throughout production, translating directly to vibration-free operation that serious RC competitors value highly. The European manufacturing heritage ensures consistency batch-to-batch, whilst the clear tooth count marking eliminates the possibility of installing incorrect gears that could damage your transmission or cause unpredictable handling characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Corally M1.0 23-tooth pinion gear compatible with my RC car? — This pinion gear is compatible with any RC vehicle that uses MOD1 metric pitch gearing and features a 5mm motor shaft diameter. Check your RC car's specification sheet or contact our team to confirm compatibility with your specific model.
- What is the difference between hardened steel and standard steel pinion gears? — Hardened steel undergoes a specialised heat treatment process that increases its hardness and wear resistance significantly. This means hardened steel pinions last longer, resist stripping under high torque loads and maintain their tooth profile geometry better than untreated alternatives, making them ideal for regular use and competition racing.
- Will this 23-tooth pinion work with different spur gear sizes? — Yes, the 23-tooth pinion can be paired with various spur gear sizes to create different gear ratios. Common combinations include 65T spur (2.83:1 ratio for balanced performance), 68T spur (2.96:1 ratio for more acceleration), or 72T spur (3.13:1 ratio for maximum acceleration on tight tracks).
- How do I install this pinion gear onto my motor shaft? — The pinion gear slides onto your motor's 5mm shaft and is typically secured using a grub screw tightened with a 2mm hex key. Remove the old pinion, slide the new one onto the shaft to the correct meshing depth with your spur gear, then tighten the grub screw securely.
- What maintenance does this pinion gear require? — Corally's hardened steel construction requires minimal maintenance. Simply keep the gear clean and free from dirt and debris, periodically inspect the teeth for any signs of damage, and ensure the grub screw remains tight during use. Replace the pinion if you notice chipped teeth or unusual vibration.
- Is this pinion suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst this pinion is precision-engineered for serious competitors, its robust construction, ease of installation and wide compatibility make it an excellent choice for beginners upgrading from lower-quality gears. The hardened steel ensures it will last through your first season of RC racing or bashing without failure.
- Why is the tooth count marked on the gear? — The clearly marked tooth count allows you to instantly identify the correct pinion when you have multiple gears in your spares box, preventing installation mistakes that could damage your transmission or cause poor handling. This thoughtful design feature is particularly valuable when managing multiple RC cars or experimenting with different gear ratios.
