This motor pinion gear is engineered for compatibility with any RC car featuring 32DP (32 diametral pitch) spur gears, making it an essential upgrade or replacement component for a vast range of modern RC buggies, touring cars, and off-road platforms. The 24-tooth configuration provides an aggressive gear ratio ideal for higher-speed applications, making this pinion particularly popular for racers pushing for top speed and acceleration across UK RC circuits and racing venues. Manufactured in Europe to the exacting standards Team Corally is known for, this hardened steel pinion comes as a single precision component ready to install into your motor shaft immediately.

If you're serious about RC performance and want to ensure your drivetrain operates with absolute precision and zero play, this Corally pinion gear is an investment in reliability and longevity that will pay dividends through consistent, predictable performance across every run.

Key Features

  • Hardened Steel Construction — Manufactured from specially formulated hardened steel that significantly increases resistance to wear, stripping, and tooth deformation even under sustained high-torque conditions, ensuring this pinion will outlast standard plastic alternatives and maintain its precision far longer.
  • CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Each tooth is precisely machined using advanced CNC technology that guarantees perfect tooth shaping and ultra-true running characteristics, eliminating vibration and noise that plague lesser-quality pinions and ensuring smooth power delivery from motor to spur gear.
  • Precision Gear Manufacturing — Manufactured on a special dedicated gear machine using proven European engineering techniques, every pinion undergoes rigorous quality control to assure unparalleled concentricity and mesh characteristics that demand respect from competitive RC racers.
  • Ultra-Precise Tooth Shaping — The CNC manufacturing process creates tooth profiles of extraordinary accuracy, delivering vibration-free operation that reduces drivetrain stress, minimises energy loss, and contributes to faster lap times and smoother vehicle handling.
  • Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number (24T in this case), allowing you to quickly and easily identify the correct ratio during setup changes, maintenance, or when building multiple cars with different gear ratios.
  • 5mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The 5.0mm shaft diameter fitting accommodates the vast majority of modern brushless and brushed RC motors found in today's competitive 1/10 scale platforms, ensuring broad compatibility across different RC car brands and models.
  • Complete Gear Ratio Range Available — Team Corally manufactures this same precision pinion in every available tooth count, allowing you to fine-tune your vehicle's acceleration and top speed characteristics for any track condition or racing discipline you encounter.
  • 2.0mm Hex Key Installation — The pinion secures to your motor shaft using a standard 2mm hex key, making installation, removal, and maintenance straightforward with common RC workshop tools.

Technical Performance

At the heart of any RC car's drivetrain lies the motor pinion gear, and the Corally 32 DP Pinion represents the pinnacle of this critical component's engineering. The 24-tooth configuration delivers a gear ratio of 24 teeth, and when paired with larger spur gears (49-tooth spur gears are commonly used with this pinion), it creates a high-speed ratio favoured by competitive racers seeking maximum acceleration and top-end velocity. The hardened steel material specification isn't cosmetic — it reflects genuine material science that provides superior hardness compared to standard stainless steel alternatives, translating to resistance against micro-fractures, tooth wear, and the cascading failures that can destroy a drivetrain mid-race. The precision CNC manufacturing process ensures that each tooth profile matches the next with micron-level accuracy, creating a mesh interface with your spur gear that is simultaneously smooth and robust. The 13.0mm overall gear length with 6.20mm teeth width creates an optimal contact patch for power transmission. This pinion is engineered specifically for 5.0mm motor shafts — the industry standard for high-performance brushless and brushed motors used in competitive 1/10 scale RC cars throughout the UK. Whether running 2S, 3S, 4S, or higher LiPo battery configurations with brushless ESC systems, this pinion maintains its precision and durability without complaint. The ultra-true running characteristics mean virtually zero runout, translating to reduced drivetrain noise, lower vibration transmission through the chassis, and ultimately faster lap times as energy is directed to acceleration rather than lost to mechanical vibration.

What's in the Box

  • Corally 32 DP Pinion — 24 Tooth hardened steel motor pinion gear with 5mm shaft diameter

What You Need to Complete

  • RC car equipped with 32DP drivetrain and 5.0mm motor shaft (compatible with most modern 1/10 scale brushless and brushed RC cars)
  • 2.0mm hex key for installation and shaft set screw
  • Spur gear (32DP configuration, typically 45-49 teeth depending on your desired gear ratio and track characteristics)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is gear pitch and why does 32DP matter? — Gear pitch (measured in Diametral Pitch or DP) defines the size and spacing of teeth on a gear. 32DP pinions are the modern standard for 1/10 scale RC cars, and this Corally pinion is specifically manufactured to 32DP specifications to mesh perfectly with 32DP spur gears. Using matching pitch is critical — mixing 32DP with 48DP gears, for example, will result in poor mesh, noise, and rapid failure.
  • What tooth count should I choose for my RC car? — The Corally range includes this 24-tooth pinion alongside many other options. Fewer teeth (13-17T) create lower gear ratios that emphasise acceleration and torque for technical courses. More teeth (24-28T) create higher gear ratios emphasising top speed for open, flowing tracks. The 24T pinion in this listing is ideal for high-speed applications and larger track layouts where maximum velocity is advantageous.
  • Is this pinion suitable for both brushed and brushless motors? — Yes, absolutely. This pinion is compatible with any motor featuring a 5.0mm shaft diameter, regardless of whether it uses brushed or brushless technology. Many racers use brushless motors exclusively for their superior efficiency and power delivery, and this pinion performs excellently in both applications.
  • Why choose hardened steel over standard alternatives? — Standard stainless steel and plastic pinions are adequate for casual use, but hardened steel offers dramatically superior durability and precision. Hardened steel resists tooth deformation under load, maintains concentricity longer, and simply lasts longer — critical considerations for competitive racers or enthusiasts who value reliability and consistent performance lap after lap.
  • How often should I replace my motor pinion? — With this Corally hardened steel pinion and proper maintenance (keeping the mesh clean and properly meshed with your spur gear), you should expect many months to years of reliable service. Replacement is indicated when you notice increased drivetrain noise, slipping, or visual tooth damage during inspection.
  • Will this pinion work with my specific RC car model? — This pinion is compatible with any 1/10 scale RC car equipped with a 32DP drivetrain and a 5.0mm motor shaft. This covers the vast majority of modern RC vehicles including popular FTX models (Vantage, Carnage, Banzai, Hooligan, Bugsta), Traxxas platforms, ARRMA buggies and trucks, and countless other manufacturers. If you're uncertain about your specific vehicle, check your current pinion gear's specifications — if it shows 32DP and 5mm shaft diameter, this Corally pinion is the perfect match.
  • What is concentricity and why does it matter in RC gears? — Concentricity refers to how precisely centred the teeth are on the gear's rotational axis. Perfect concentricity means the gear runs without wobble or runout as it spins. Corally's CNC manufacturing process delivers exceptional concentricity, meaning this pinion runs dead true with virtually zero wobble — delivering the vibration-free operation that serious racers demand for precise vehicle control and maximum speed.
  • Can I use this pinion with different spur gear sizes? — Absolutely — this is the beauty of understanding gear ratios. Your overall gear ratio is determined by dividing the spur gear tooth count by the pinion tooth count. This 24T pinion can be paired with different spur gear sizes to fine-tune your vehicle's performance for different track characteristics, weather conditions, or driving styles.
