Overview
The Corally 32 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 19 Teeth is a precision-engineered gear component designed for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability and performance from their drivetrain components. Whether you're running a competitive track car, a weekend basher, or exploring the world of RC cars for the first time, having the correct pinion gear is absolutely essential for achieving optimal performance and protecting your motor from unnecessary stress. This 19-tooth pinion gear represents the perfect balance between acceleration and top speed for many popular RC vehicle setups, making it a versatile choice for builders and racers alike.
Manufactured by Team Corally, a respected name in RC motorsport components, this pinion gear is crafted from special hardened steel to withstand the demands of both casual and competitive driving. The gear features CNC-cut teeth with ultra-precise concentricity, ensuring smooth, vibration-free operation that translates directly into better handling and improved motor efficiency. With a 5.0mm shaft diameter, this pinion is compatible with the vast majority of brushless and brushed motors found in modern RC cars throughout the UK, making it an essential replacement or upgrade component for your spares box.
The 32 DP (Diametral Pitch) designation indicates this is a medium-pitch gear suitable for a wide range of RC applications. At 19 teeth, this pinion offers an excellent starting point for finding your ideal gear ratio, allowing you to fine-tune acceleration versus top speed to suit your driving style, track conditions, and vehicle setup. Every pinion is clearly marked with the tooth count for quick identification, and the special manufacturing process ensures that each gear maintains perfect tooth shaping and ultra-true running characteristics.
Key Features

- Ultra-Precise Manufacturing for Vibration-Free Operation — The special gear machine and precision tolerances used in manufacturing this pinion ensure that it runs with exceptional smoothness, eliminating the vibrations that can compromise handling and reduce the lifespan of your entire drivetrain.
- 19-Tooth Configuration — The 19-tooth count provides an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed, making this pinion suitable for a variety of track conditions and driving styles, and it serves as a reliable reference point for building your ideal gear ratio setup.
- 32 DP Module Compatibility — Designed to work seamlessly with all RC vehicles equipped with 32 DP spur gears, this standard specification ensures compatibility across a wide range of models and manufacturers, making it easy to find parts and maintain your RC car fleet.
- 5.0mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — The 5.0mm shaft diameter accommodates the vast majority of modern brushless and brushed motors, making this an excellent universal replacement or upgrade pinion for RC cars throughout the UK.
- Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number, allowing you to quickly identify the correct gear during maintenance or when swapping multiple pinions for different track configurations and driving scenarios.
- European Manufacturing Excellence — Proudly manufactured in Europe, this pinion represents the quality standards and precision engineering that European manufacturers are renowned for in the RC hobby community.
Technical Performance
The Corally 32 DP Pinion delivers exceptional performance through a combination of advanced manufacturing techniques and premium materials. The special hardened steel composition provides significantly greater toughness compared to standard steel pinions, translating to reduced wear, longer service intervals between replacements, and improved reliability during both casual and competitive RC car driving sessions. The 6.20mm teeth width ensures adequate contact surface with your spur gear, distributing load evenly across multiple teeth and preventing premature wear or tooth stripping. At 13.00mm in overall length, this short-format pinion maintains a compact profile that works well with modern motor mounts and suspension setups, whilst the precision CNC tooth shaping guarantees that each tooth engages smoothly with your spur gear without the chatter or noise that can develop with inferior manufacturing tolerances. The 2.0mm hex key fitting simplifies installation and removal, allowing you to change gear ratios quickly without the need for specialist tools. For 5.0mm motor shafts, this pinion accommodates the industry-standard motor sizing used across virtually all modern brushless RC cars available in the UK market, from entry-level vehicles to competition-grade machinery. Whether you're building a new RC car from scratch, upgrading an existing setup, or simply maintaining a comprehensive spares collection, this pinion delivers the performance, durability, and reliability that serious RC enthusiasts demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why do I need one for my RC car? — A pinion gear is a small motorised gear that meshes directly with your vehicle's larger spur gear, transferring power from the motor to the drivetrain. The pinion is absolutely essential for RC car operation, and the number of teeth on your pinion directly affects your vehicle's acceleration and top speed. Selecting the correct pinion tooth count for your driving style and track conditions is one of the most important tuning decisions you'll make.
- What does 32 DP mean and why does it matter? — DP stands for Diametral Pitch, which is a standardised measurement system for gears that defines tooth size and spacing. A 32 DP pinion has smaller teeth than lower DP numbers, making it suitable for compact RC cars and modern motor mounts. You must use a 32 DP pinion only with a 32 DP spur gear, as mixing different DP specifications will result in poor meshing, excessive noise, and premature gear wear.
- How do I know if this pinion is compatible with my RC car? — This pinion is compatible with any RC car that uses 32 DP gears and has a 5.0mm diameter motor shaft. Most modern brushless RC cars fall into this category, but you should verify your vehicle's specifications before purchasing. If you're unsure, the team at RC Model Shop can help you identify the correct pinion for your specific vehicle.
- What is the difference between 19 teeth and other tooth counts? — The number of teeth on your pinion creates different gear ratios when combined with your spur gear. A 19-tooth pinion is considered a mid-range option that provides balanced acceleration and top speed. Lower tooth counts (like 17T or 18T) provide quicker acceleration but lower top speed, whilst higher tooth counts (like 20T or 21T) sacrifice some acceleration for increased top-end speed. Your ideal choice depends on your track layout, driving style, and current performance goals.
- Why is hardened steel better than standard steel? — Hardened steel undergoes a special heat-treatment process that increases its hardness and toughness, making it significantly more resistant to wear, deformation, and tooth stripping. This means hardened steel pinions last considerably longer than standard alternatives, provide more consistent performance over time, and ultimately represent better value for money despite potentially higher initial cost.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — The lifespan of a pinion depends on your driving intensity, track conditions, and gear meshing quality. With proper maintenance and correct setup, a quality hardened steel pinion like this Corally unit should provide many hours of reliable service. You should inspect your pinion regularly for signs of wear, chipping, or tooth damage, and replace it immediately if you notice any abnormalities or if your vehicle develops new vibrations or noise during operation.
- Can I use this pinion with different brands of spur gears? — Yes, as long as your spur gear is also 32 DP, it will work with this pinion regardless of manufacturer. The key requirement is that both gears have the same DP specification to ensure proper tooth engagement and smooth operation.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The Corally 32 DP Pinion is an excellent choice for RC enthusiasts at any experience level. The 19-tooth configuration provides a balanced setup suitable for learning, and the premium hardened steel construction means you won't need to replace it frequently, making it cost-effective for newcomers to the hobby. Whether you're new to RC cars or a seasoned competitor, this pinion delivers reliable performance.
