Key Features
- Hardened Steel Construction — Manufactured from special hardened steel rather than standard steel, this pinion gear delivers significantly improved durability and wear resistance, ensuring it will maintain performance through countless racing sessions and bashing adventures without degradation.
- CNC-Cut Precision Teeth — Every tooth is cut using advanced CNC machinery with ultra-precise tooth shaping, guaranteeing perfect tooth geometry and unparalleled concentricity that eliminates vibration and delivers smooth, efficient power transmission to your spur gear.
- Ultra-True Running — The combination of precision manufacturing and hardened steel means this pinion runs with exceptional truth and balance, eliminating vibration that can cause driveline wear and reducing overall drivetrain stress in competitive RC racing scenarios.
- Module 48DP Specification — This is a 48 Diametral Pitch gear, which is a standard specification that ensures compatibility with other 48DP gears in the CORALLY ecosystem and allows you to mix and match different tooth counts to find your ideal gear ratio.
- 32-Tooth Configuration — The 32T rating provides a versatile gear ratio suitable for multiple vehicle types and track conditions, offering a balance between acceleration and top speed for most RC car UK applications.
- Short Version Design — The compact short version profile accommodates tight motor installations and allows for flexible mounting configurations, particularly useful in vehicles with space constraints or compact chassis layouts.
- 5MM Motor Shaft Compatibility — The 5mm bore diameter fits standard brushless and brushed motor shafts, making this pinion a direct upgrade for countless popular RC vehicles including buggy, truck and truggy models.
- Easy Identification — Each pinion is laser-marked with its tooth number, allowing instant recognition and preventing mix-ups during gear changes or when managing multiple pinions for different track setups.
- Made in Europe Quality — Manufactured to the highest European engineering standards using state-of-the-art machinery, ensuring consistent quality and reliability across every pinion produced.
- Perfect Gear Ratio Options — As part of the complete CORALLY 48DP pinion range, you can pair this 32T pinion with various spur gear options to achieve the perfect gear ratio for any track condition, from tight technical courses to high-speed circuits.
Technical Performance
The CORALLY 48 DP PINION SHORT HARDENED STEEL 32 TEETH 5MM C-72432 represents the cutting edge of precision gear manufacturing for RC cars. The 32-tooth pinion with 48 Diametral Pitch specification ensures compatibility with standard CORALLY spur gears whilst providing a versatile gear ratio suitable for diverse racing environments and driving styles. The pinion's 13mm overall length and 6.2mm teeth width are precisely engineered to deliver maximum contact with your spur gear whilst maintaining compact dimensions ideal for modern RC chassis designs. The hardened steel material, combined with CNC-cut teeth and ultra-precise concentricity tolerances, ensures that every rotation is smooth and efficient, with zero backlash and zero radial runout that could cause vibration or power loss. This level of precision engineering means faster acceleration, smoother power delivery, reduced drivetrain wear, and ultimately faster lap times on the track. The 2.0mm hex key size for installation makes setup straightforward, allowing quick gear changes between different tooth count options to optimise performance for specific track conditions. Whether you're upgrading from standard gears or setting up a new vehicle, this pinion provides the professional-grade performance expected by RC racing competitors and serious enthusiasts across the United Kingdom.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 48DP and other pinion gear pitch specifications? — Diametral Pitch (DP) refers to the fineness of the gear teeth. 48DP gears have finer, more precise teeth than lower pitch gears, resulting in smoother engagement, less backlash, and more efficient power transmission. 48DP is a standard specification for precision RC racing vehicles, whilst larger vehicles might use 32DP gears. The 48DP specification ensures compatibility with other CORALLY gears and allows precise gear ratio selection.
- Is this pinion compatible with my RC car? — This pinion fits any RC vehicle with a 5mm motor shaft and 48DP spur gear compatibility. Check your vehicle's motor shaft diameter and spur gear specification before purchasing. It is commonly used in 1/10 scale buggies, short course trucks, and stadium trucks that utilise 48DP gearing systems. The short version design makes it particularly suitable for compact motor installations.
- What is the advantage of hardened steel compared to standard steel pinions? — Hardened steel undergoes a special heat treatment process that significantly increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to standard steel. This means the pinion teeth maintain their precise geometry longer, resist stripping under load, and provide longer service life even under competitive racing conditions. For serious RC racers who change gears frequently and demand peak performance, hardened steel pinions justify their cost through extended durability.
- How do I select the correct pinion tooth count for my setup? — Pinion tooth count directly affects your gear ratio and performance characteristics. Lower tooth count pinions (such as 28T or 29T) provide more acceleration and lower top speed, ideal for tight technical tracks. Higher tooth counts (such as 35T or 36T) increase top speed and reduce acceleration, suited to wide-open circuits. The 32T option provides balanced performance across most track types. Experiment with different tooth counts to find the optimal setup for your specific track and driving style.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a high-quality component, it is not specifically a beginner-level product—it's a precision racing component designed for drivers who want the absolute best performance and durability. Beginners can certainly use this pinion in their RC vehicles, and they will benefit from its superior quality, but beginners may also be served adequately by standard-grade pinions whilst learning basic RC driving skills. However, if you're serious about RC racing from the start, this CORALLY pinion is an excellent investment.
- How often will I need to replace this pinion? — With proper maintenance and care, a hardened steel CORALLY pinion can last for hundreds of racing sessions. Replacement is necessary only if you need to change your gear ratio for different track conditions, or if the teeth become visibly damaged. Regular inspection and cleaning will help extend the pinion's service life even further.
- Can I use this with non-CORALLY spur gears? — This is a 48DP pinion, so it is compatible with any 48DP spur gear from any manufacturer. However, for best performance and consistency, CORALLY recommends pairing 48DP pinions with 48DP spur gears from the same product line to ensure perfect tooth meshing and concentricity tolerances.
