Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — Manufactured from specially formulated hardened steel rather than standard steel, this material provides exceptional toughness and dramatically improved durability throughout extended use. The hardening process increases resistance to wear, deformation and tooth stripping, meaning your gear investment protects your motor and maintains performance over hundreds of hours of operation.
  • CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Each tooth is cut using precision CNC machinery to ensure flawless tooth shaping and ultra-true concentricity. This engineering precision means the gear rotates with perfect balance, eliminating vibration, noise and stress on drivetrain components. The result is smoother power delivery, quieter operation and significantly extended component lifespan.
  • Ultra-Precise Manufacturing Tolerances — Every pinion gear is manufactured to unparalleled concentricity standards using a special gear-cutting machine designed specifically for high-precision gearwork. These tight tolerances ensure perfect meshing with your spur gear, eliminating backlash and dead spots that waste power and damage components.
  • Module M0.6 Compatibility — This pinion features M0.6 module pitch, matching the most popular gearing standard used in RC cars worldwide. This compatibility ensures seamless integration with thousands of RC platforms and makes finding the perfect gear ratio straightforward.
  • 27 Teeth Specification — With 27 teeth, this pinion provides a solid mid-range gear ratio suitable for various track conditions and driving styles. The tooth count balances acceleration and top speed, making it ideal for mixed-terrain racing and general RC car operation.
  • 3.17mm Motor Shaft Diameter — The precisely sized 3.17mm bore accommodates standard RC motor shafts, ensuring rock-solid fitment without play or wobble. This universal sizing makes the pinion compatible with most brushless and brushed RC motors currently in use.
  • Colour-Coded Tooth Numbering — Each pinion is clearly marked with the tooth number, making identification quick and simple when managing multiple gears or diagnosing drivetrain issues. This thoughtful design detail saves time during setup and maintenance.
  • European Manufacturing Excellence — Proudly made in Europe, this pinion reflects the continent's reputation for precision engineering and quality control. You're investing in a product manufactured under strict quality standards using proven manufacturing techniques.
  • Compact Short Design — The short pinion design minimises overall drivetrain length whilst maintaining full engagement depth, making it ideal for space-constrained chassis designs and compact motor installations without compromising strength or durability.

Technical Performance

The Corally M0.6 Pinion represents the convergence of materials science and precision engineering, delivering measurable performance improvements that experienced RC car enthusiasts will immediately recognise. The special hardened steel material specification has been carefully selected to provide the optimal balance between toughness and brittleness—soft enough to absorb shock loads without tooth breakage, yet hard enough to resist the wear that degrades softer materials within just a few racing sessions. The CNC-cut teeth feature a mathematically optimised profile that ensures smooth, efficient power transmission from your motor to the spur gear, minimising friction losses and vibration that would otherwise steal performance and generate heat. The ultra-true running geometry, verified during manufacturing, means that every rotation is perfectly balanced, eliminating the vibration signatures that cause premature bearing wear, loose connections and diminished handling precision. This pinion integrates seamlessly into M0.6 module drivetrain systems, providing unparalleled reliability whether you're operating a standard 2S/3S brushless RC buggy, a competition-grade electric truck, or a traditional brushed motor setup. The 27-tooth configuration strikes an excellent balance for most track conditions, offering responsive acceleration whilst maintaining reasonable top-speed capability. Serious RC competitors and weekend bashers alike will appreciate the precision and durability that this Corally component brings to their RC car setups. The hardened steel construction ensures that your investment in this pinion translates into extended maintenance intervals and reduced replacement costs over the lifetime of your RC car.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does M0.6 module mean and will this pinion fit my RC car? — M0.6 refers to the module specification of the gear pitch, which is a standardised measurement system used globally in RC gearing. M0.6 is one of the most popular module sizes used in modern RC cars, particularly Tamiya models and many contemporary electric RC buggies and trucks. If your RC car uses M0.6 spur gears, this pinion will fit perfectly. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is also a standard specification for most brushless motors and many brushed motors, so compatibility with most current RC cars is excellent.
  • Why is hardened steel better than standard steel for pinion gears? — Hardened steel undergoes a special heat-treatment process that increases its hardness and wear resistance significantly. This means the gear teeth resist deformation, chipping and wear far better than standard steel alternatives. For RC car use, where thousands of gear meshing cycles occur during each session, hardened steel dramatically extends component life and maintains precise tooth profiles that ensure smooth, quiet, efficient operation. This translates to better handling, less noise, and fewer replacement costs over time.
  • How does CNC precision cutting affect performance? — CNC (Computer Numerical Control) cutting produces tooth profiles with mechanical precision impossible to achieve through traditional methods. Each tooth is cut to identical specifications, ensuring perfect symmetry and smooth meshing with the spur gear. This precision reduces vibration, noise and stress on adjacent components, improving handling precision and reducing the likelihood of premature failure. The ultra-true concentricity means the gear runs dead-centre on the motor shaft without wobble or runout.
  • Is this suitable for both casual RC bashers and competitive racers? — Absolutely. This pinion is equally at home in a casual weekend basher or a serious competition RC car setup. The hardened steel durability makes it economical for heavy use, whilst the precision engineering delivers the reliability and consistency that competitive racers demand. Whether you're enjoying RC as a hobby or pursuing podium finishes, this pinion meets the requirements of all user levels.
  • What is the difference between this 27-tooth pinion and other available tooth counts? — Pinion tooth count directly affects the gear ratio and thus the balance between acceleration and top speed. A 27-tooth pinion represents a mid-range specification. Lower tooth counts (like 25T or 26T) provide quicker acceleration but lower top speeds, suitable for tight, technical tracks. Higher tooth counts (like 28T or 29T) favour top speed and efficiency over raw acceleration, better for open, flowing courses. The 27T offers excellent versatility across varied track conditions.
  • How do I install this pinion on my motor? — The pinion simply slides onto your motor shaft and is typically secured using a small hex key (1.5mm hex key is required, as specified by Corally). Simply align the bore with the shaft, push the pinion onto the shaft until it sits at the correct mesh depth with your spur gear, then tighten the set screw using the appropriate hex key. Proper mesh depth is crucial—the pinion and spur should have minimal backlash but rotate freely without binding.
  • Can I use this pinion with different motor shaft sizes? — No. This pinion is specifically designed for 3.17mm motor shafts. Using it on a motor with a different shaft diameter will result in either too much play (with smaller shafts) or impossible installation (with larger shafts). Always verify your motor's shaft diameter before purchasing. However, 3.17mm is such a common standard that compatibility with modern RC motors is excellent.
