Hardened steel resists wear and deformation even under sustained high-load conditions, ensuring your gear ratio stays consistent throughout extended driving sessions and competitive events.
- CNC-Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth is cut using precision CNC machinery to guarantee perfect tooth shape and ultra-precise concentricity. This precision engineering eliminates run-out and ensures smooth, efficient power transfer from your motor to the drivetrain, resulting in vibration-free operation that protects other transmission components from unnecessary stress.
- M0.6 Metric Pitch Module — The M0.6 module specification means this gear is compatible with all cars and gearboxes that use M0.6 gearing, particularly Tamiya RC models and other vehicles employing this metric standard. This compatibility ensures you can easily experiment with different tooth counts to find the optimal gear ratio for your specific vehicle and driving conditions.
- 14-Tooth Configuration — The 14-tooth count is a versatile option that sits in the middle of the typical pinion range, offering a balanced approach to gearing. A 14T pinion allows for greater top speed compared to smaller tooth counts whilst maintaining reasonable acceleration characteristics, making it suitable for track racing where you need both speed and control.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — This pinion gear features a 3.17mm shaft diameter hole, making it compatible with the standard motor shafts found in most hobby-grade RC cars. The 3.17mm specification is universal across many RC vehicles, ensuring broad compatibility with your existing RC car collection.
- Tooth Number Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth count, eliminating confusion when managing multiple gears and making it simple to quickly identify the exact gear ratio you're running. This feature is invaluable when experimenting with different configurations or when swapping gears between vehicles.
- Ultra-Precise Tooth Shaping — The special gear-cutting process creates teeth with exceptionally precise geometry, ensuring smooth meshing with your spur gear and minimal noise during operation. Precise teeth also reduce stress concentrations and improve power transmission efficiency across the entire speed range.
- Ultra-True Running Performance — Manufacturing tolerances are so tight that each gear runs with minimal radial and axial run-out, delivering vibration-free operation that translates to smoother power delivery and reduced wear on connected components. This level of precision is what separates professional-grade components from budget alternatives.

- Compact 9mm Gear Length — The gear length of 9mm is optimised for the space constraints of typical RC gearboxes, ensuring proper mesh geometry without binding. The short profile designation indicates this gear is specifically designed for compact drivetrain layouts common in modern RC vehicles.
- 4mm Teeth Width — The tooth width specification of 4mm provides adequate surface contact area with the spur gear for reliable power transmission whilst maintaining the lightweight characteristics needed for responsive RC performance. This width is standard for M0.6 gearing and ensures compatibility with matching spur gears.
Technical Performance
The Corally M0.6 Pinion Short Hardened Steel represents a significant step up from budget-grade pinion gears in terms of engineering precision and material quality. The special hardened steel material has been specifically chosen to resist the wear and deformation that occurs under the high rotational forces generated by brushless motors in modern RC cars. When your brushless motor delivers thousands of revolutions per minute to the drivetrain, the pinion gear is at the centre of this power delivery, and inferior materials will gradually deform, creating poor mesh with the spur gear and generating noise, vibration and power loss. This Corally component eliminates those issues through material science and precision engineering. The CNC-cutting process ensures that tooth geometry is absolutely consistent across the entire gear, with no variation in tooth profile that might cause intermittent binding or vibration. Every tooth meshes with the spur gear at precisely the correct angle, distributed load evenly and preventing the concentrated stress that causes premature failure in lesser components. The M0.6 metric pitch module is the standard specification for a wide range of RC vehicles, particularly Tamiya models which dominate the UK RC hobby market, ensuring broad compatibility. The 14-tooth configuration strikes a balance in the gearing spectrum: larger pinion teeth than ultra-high-speed setups but smaller than torque-focused low-ratio gearing. This makes the 14T pinion a sensible choice for track racing where you need genuine top-end speed without sacrificing acceleration completely. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is the universal standard for hobby RC motors, meaning compatibility with virtually all motor choices in the 3650-size class and similar specifications. The precision tolerances maintained throughout the manufacturing process ensure that this gear will run with minimal run-out, delivering the smooth, quiet operation that serious RC competitors demand. Installation is straightforward using the standard 1.5mm hex socket cap screw, and the compact 9mm length integrates seamlessly into standard RC gearbox layouts without requiring modification. For builders in the UK and across Europe seeking genuine performance improvements through precision gearing, this Corally component represents excellent value for money, delivering engineering quality typically found in much more expensive specialist products.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What RC cars is the Corally M0.6 14T Pinion compatible with? — This pinion is designed for any RC car that uses M0.6 metric pitch gearing, which includes Tamiya RC models and numerous other vehicles employing this standard specification. The 3.17mm shaft diameter fits standard hobby RC motors found in most 1/10 and 1/8 scale cars. Check your vehicle's gearbox specifications to confirm M0.6 compatibility before purchasing, as some vehicles use different metric pitch modules such as M1.0 or non-metric 48-pitch systems.
- Why would I want to change my pinion gear? — Changing pinion gear tooth count is the primary way to adjust your RC car's gearing ratio, which directly affects the balance between acceleration and top speed. A smaller pinion (fewer teeth) increases top speed but reduces acceleration, whilst a larger pinion (more teeth) improves acceleration but limits top speed. The 14T option is versatile for track racing. You might also change gears if your original gear is worn, damaged, or if you're experimenting with setup tuning for different track layouts.
- How does hardened steel improve performance compared to standard gears? — Hardened steel resists deformation and wear that occurs under the extreme rotational forces generated by brushless motors. Standard gears gradually deform during use, creating poor mesh characteristics with the spur gear, increased vibration, noise and eventual power loss. Hardened steel maintains consistent tooth geometry throughout the gear's service life, ensuring reliable performance, efficiency and longevity. For competitive RC racing, this translates to more predictable handling and fewer unexpected failures during races.
- What is the benefit of CNC-cut teeth with perfect concentricity? — CNC machining ensures that every tooth is cut to identical specifications with no variation, and perfect concentricity means the gear runs true with minimal run-out. This precision eliminates vibration, reduces noise, improves mesh quality with the spur gear, and distributes loads evenly across all teeth. Poor-quality gears have inconsistent tooth profiles that create binding and vibration, accelerating wear and reducing transmission efficiency. The precision engineering in this Corally component ensures smooth, quiet, efficient operation.
- Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst this is a genuine precision component, it's not difficult to install or use. The 14T configuration is a versatile, balanced option suitable for general track racing. If you're new to RC cars and gearing ratios, a 14T pinion is a sensible starting point. However, you'll need to understand that changing gearing requires opening your gearbox and adjusting mesh, which requires basic mechanical skills. If you're completely new to RC, consider learning from an experienced RC friend or watching online tutorials before attempting gear changes.
- How does the M0.6 metric pitch differ from other gearing systems? — Module (M) refers to the metric pitch specification for gears, where M0.6 is one specific standard. Other common RC gearing systems include M1.0 (larger teeth, used in some 1/8 scale vehicles) and 48-pitch (imperial measurement system). These systems are completely incompatible; you cannot mix M0.6 gears with M1.0 gears or 48-pitch gears. Verify your vehicle uses M0.6 gearing before purchasing. Tamiya models predominantly use M0.6, making this a popular specification in the UK RC hobby.
- Why is the tooth count marked on the gear? — The marking makes it simple to quickly identify the gear ratio you're running without needing to physically count teeth or check documentation. When managing multiple pinions for different track conditions or vehicles, this identification marking eliminates confusion and potential installation errors. It's a small but valuable feature that demonstrates attention to user experience in the product design.
- What tools do I need to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires a 1.5mm hex key (Allen key) to secure the set screw holding the pinion on the motor shaft. You'll also need to be able to access your vehicle's gearbox to remove the old pinion and install the new one. Depending on your vehicle, you may need a small screwdriver, tweezers for handling small parts, and access to a work area. Some vehicles require partial gearbox disassembly; consult your vehicle's manual for specific procedures.
- How do I choose the right pinion tooth count for my track? — Smaller pinion teeth (lower T count) increase top speed but reduce acceleration. Larger pinion teeth (higher T count) improve acceleration but limit top speed. The 14T pinion is a balanced middle option suitable for mixed-character tracks requiring both speed and control. If your track has long straights and high-speed sections, you might try a smaller pinion. If your track is technical with tight corners requiring responsive acceleration, a larger pinion might suit better. Experimenting with different tooth counts is part of the tuning process.
- Is this gear durable for competitive racing? — Yes. The hardened steel construction and precision CNC manufacturing make this a professional-grade component suitable for serious competitive racing. The material resists wear and deformation that would degrade performance over extended race events. Corally components are used by competitive RC drivers across Europe and the UK, so the durability and reliability have been proven in demanding racing environments. This is not a consumable component; it should provide extended service life with proper care.
