Overview
The Corally 32 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 11 Teeth Shaft Dia. 3.17mm (C-71511) is a premium replacement pinion gear designed for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision engineering and durability. This high-performance component is manufactured from special hardened steel using advanced CNC cutting techniques, ensuring perfect tooth geometry and concentricity for vibration-free operation. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC buggy, a bashful weekend driver pushing your monster truck to its limits, or an RC hobbyist looking to upgrade your electric RC car with quality components, this pinion gear delivers the reliability and performance you need to keep your model running at peak efficiency.
Team Corally, a recognised leader in RC components and spare parts, has engineered this 11-tooth pinion to work seamlessly with all cars equipped with 32DP gearing systems. The short design and precise shaft diameter of 3.17mm make it compatible with standard RC motor installations found in countless 1/10 and other scale electric RC vehicles throughout the UK market. Available in a complete range of tooth counts, the Corally pinion system allows you to fine-tune your gear ratio for optimal performance on any track surface or terrain, whether you're running on carpet, concrete, dirt or grass.
What sets this pinion apart from standard or budget alternatives is the combination of material science and manufacturing precision. The hardened steel construction resists wear and tooth stripping, even under extreme driving conditions, whilst the ultra-precise CNC-cut teeth ensure smooth meshing with spur gears, translating to improved acceleration, smoother power delivery, and extended component lifespan. Every pinion is individually marked with the tooth number for quick identification, making it straightforward to manage your collection of spares and ensure you're installing the correct ratio for your driving style and track conditions.
Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — Made from premium hardened steel that resists wear, tooth stripping and damage from repeated high-stress driving, ensuring your pinion maintains its integrity even under competitive racing conditions or aggressive bashing sessions.
- CNC-Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Each tooth is precision-cut on a dedicated gear machine using computer numerical control, guaranteeing perfect tooth shape and ultra-true running that eliminates vibration and provides consistent, reliable power transmission to your spur gear.
- 32DP Module Specification — Compatible with all 32DP gearing systems widely used in modern 1/10 scale RC cars and other models, ensuring you can find the perfect gear ratio for your specific vehicle and driving requirements.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Diameter — Designed to fit standard RC brushless and brushed motors with 3.17mm (1/8 inch) diameter shafts, the most common size found in electric RC cars across the UK hobby market.
- Short Profile Design — The compact short-length profile minimises weight whilst maintaining structural integrity, helping to improve acceleration and reduce drivetrain inertia for more responsive handling.
- Individual Tooth Count Marking — Every pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number (11T in this case), allowing you to quickly identify it in your spares box and confirm you're installing the correct ratio without confusion.
- 11-Tooth Configuration — This tooth count provides a specific gear ratio ideal for tracks and driving styles where you want a balance between acceleration and top speed, offering versatility across various RC car platforms.
- European Manufacturing Excellence — Produced in Europe using stringent quality control processes, guaranteeing consistency, precision and reliability in every single pinion shipped to RC hobbyists across the UK.
- 4mm Teeth Width — The teeth width of 4mm provides ample contact surface area with your spur gear for positive engagement and smooth power transfer, reducing the risk of tooth slippage under load.
- 9mm Gear Length — Precisely engineered length ensures proper mesh with standard spur gears whilst maintaining the correct backlash tolerances for optimal drivetrain performance.
- 1.5mm Hex Socket — Compatible with standard 1.5mm hex keys (Allen keys) for straightforward installation and removal, using tools that are standard in any RC enthusiast's toolkit.
Technical Performance
The Corally C-71511 pinion represents a significant step up from standard stamped-steel gears in terms of build quality and long-term reliability. The special hardened steel material has been specifically selected and heat-treated to provide maximum durability whilst remaining lightweight, a critical balance in RC engineering. The CNC cutting process removes all stamping imperfections, creating tooth profiles that are mathematically perfect, which translates directly into smoother acceleration delivery, quieter operation, and reduced wear on your spur gear. The ultra-true running characteristic means minimal runout, so there's no wobbling or vibration that would otherwise slow down response times or cause energy loss. At just 11 teeth with a 32DP module, this pinion is designed for applications where you want strong acceleration and flexibility in gear ratio selection. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is the industry standard for modern brushless motors and many brushed motors used in UK-market RC cars, including popular models from Traxxas, ARRMA, Losi and others. With a teeth width of 4mm and an overall gear length of 9mm, this pinion maintains perfect proportions for reliable mesh geometry, ensuring that whether you're bashing across rough terrain or competing on a precision track, your drivetrain stays efficient and responsive. The 1.5mm hex socket provides secure installation without risk of stripping, and the clear tooth count marking eliminates any chance of installing the wrong ratio.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Corally 11-tooth pinion suitable for my RC car? — Yes, provided your vehicle uses 32DP gearing and has a 3.17mm motor shaft diameter. Check your RC car's documentation or compare with existing gears. If you're unsure, our team at RC Model Shop can help you identify the correct specifications for your specific model.
- What is the difference between the 11-tooth and other tooth counts? — Tooth count directly affects gear ratio and performance characteristics. Fewer teeth (like 11T) provide stronger acceleration but lower top speed, whilst more teeth deliver higher top speed with less torque. The 11-tooth configuration is versatile and works well for general-purpose RC driving, bashful weekend fun and certain competitive applications.
- Why should I use a hardened steel pinion instead of a standard gear? — Hardened steel resists wear, stripping and tooth damage far better than standard materials, especially under high torque from brushless motors or aggressive driving. The investment in a quality pinion extends your overall drivetrain lifespan and reduces unexpected breakdowns, saving you money in the long run.
- Can I use this pinion with any RC car? — Only with cars that feature 32DP gearing and a 3.17mm motor shaft diameter. These specifications are common in modern 1/10 scale electric RC cars, but not universal. Check your vehicle's manual or contact us to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — With proper maintenance and quality components, a hardened steel pinion like the Corally C-71511 can last many months or years of regular use. Replace it when you notice visible tooth wear, damage, or performance degradation such as slipping or grinding noises.
- Is this pinion suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Corally pinions are reliable, well-engineered components suitable for drivers of all experience levels. Installation is straightforward if you have basic mechanical skills and a 1.5mm hex key.
- What makes CNC-cut teeth better than stamped teeth? — CNC machining creates geometrically perfect tooth profiles with no distortion, inconsistencies or rough edges. This results in smooth, quiet meshing with your spur gear, reduced vibration, and more efficient power transfer compared to stamped gears where imperfections are common.
- Is the Corally C-71511 made in Europe? — Yes, Corally manufactures this pinion in Europe using strict quality control standards, ensuring consistency and reliability in every unit shipped to RC enthusiasts throughout the UK.
