- CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Geometry — Every tooth is precisely cut using Computer Numerical Control machinery that creates perfect tooth profiles with exceptional concentricity, meaning each tooth maintains exact spacing and alignment for smooth, vibration-free mesh with your spur gear and elimination of grinding or rattling sounds.
- Ultra-True Running and Concentricity — The pinion is engineered with unparalleled concentricity so that it rotates in perfect balance around the motor shaft, eliminating vibration that can cause bearing wear, reduce efficiency, and create inconsistent handling during high-speed driving or precise technical sections.
- 64 DP Module Rating — The 64 Diametral Pitch specification means this pinion is compatible exclusively with other 64 DP gears in the Corally range, allowing you to build complete, matched drivetrain systems and experiment with different spur gear tooth counts to dial in your ideal gear ratio for any track condition or driving style.
- 50 Tooth Count — The 50-tooth configuration offers a balanced gearing option for most RC car applications, providing good acceleration without sacrificing top-end speed, making this a versatile choice for track racing, off-road driving and recreational bashing across the UK and beyond.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — This pinion is designed specifically for motors with 3.17mm diameter shafts, a standard specification found on most modern brushless RC car motors, ensuring secure and reliable fitment without adapters or modifications.
- Marked Tooth Identification — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number, allowing you to quickly and easily identify it in your parts box, swap between different tooth counts for different tracks, and maintain accurate records of your gearing combinations for future reference and performance analysis.
- Ultra-Precise Tooth Shaping — The manufacturing process creates teeth with exact profiles that engage smoothly with spur gear teeth, reducing mechanical noise, minimising energy loss through gear mesh friction, and allowing your brushless motor to deliver maximum efficiency to the drivetrain.
- Made in Europe — Manufactured to stringent European quality standards using proven engineering techniques, this pinion represents the reliability and precision you expect from a trusted RC parts manufacturer with decades of motorsport experience.
- Compact Short Design — The short pinion profile reduces overall weight and complexity in the drivetrain whilst maintaining full strength and durability, contributing to better handling characteristics and reduced rotating mass for improved acceleration response.
Technical Performance
The Corally 64 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 50 Teeth represents the very best in modern RC drivetrain engineering. Built from specially hardened steel, this pinion undergoes rigorous CNC machining to achieve perfect tooth geometry and exceptional concentricity that simply cannot be matched by standard alternatives. The 64 DP module specification is a professional motorsport standard that ensures compatibility across a complete range of Corally gears, allowing you to experiment with different spur gear sizes to achieve your ideal gear ratio for any racing scenario or driving condition. The 50-tooth configuration provides a balanced starting point that works effectively across most RC car types and track layouts, offering good mid-range performance without the extreme acceleration of lower tooth counts or the high-speed limitations of higher counts. The motor shaft diameter of 3.17mm is the industry standard for modern brushless RC car motors, meaning this pinion will fit your setup without requiring any adapters or modifications. The teeth width of 4.00mm and overall gear length of 9.00mm represent a compact, lightweight design that reduces unnecessary bulk in your drivetrain whilst maintaining full structural integrity and load capacity. The 1.5mm hex key size allows for quick and easy removal and installation using standard RC tools found in any serious enthusiast's workshop. Every aspect of this pinion's design has been engineered with precision and durability in mind, ensuring that whether you're racing competitively, training for upcoming events, or simply enjoying recreational driving with friends, your drivetrain will remain reliable and consistent throughout every session.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why do I need one for my RC car? — A pinion gear is a small gear that meshes with a larger spur gear to transfer power from your brushless motor to the drivetrain. The tooth count on your pinion directly determines your vehicle's acceleration and top speed; fewer teeth means faster acceleration but lower top speed, whilst more teeth provide higher top-end speed but reduced acceleration. Upgrading to a precision pinion like the Corally 64 DP eliminates vibration and power loss caused by poorly manufactured gears, resulting in faster lap times and more consistent performance.
- Is this pinion compatible with my RC car? — This pinion is compatible with any RC car that uses 64 DP gears and has a motor with a 3.17mm shaft diameter. These are standard specifications found on most modern brushless RC cars from leading manufacturers. You should verify your vehicle's motor shaft size and existing gear pitch before ordering. If you're unsure, our team at RC Model Shop in Walsall can help identify whether this pinion matches your setup.
- What does 64 DP mean and why does it matter? — DP stands for Diametral Pitch, a measurement that describes the relationship between tooth size and gear diameter. 64 DP is a fine-pitched specification commonly used in precision RC racing applications, meaning the teeth are smaller and more numerous than coarser pitches. This specification must match your spur gear exactly; mixing different DP gears will cause them not to mesh properly, resulting in damage and poor performance.
- How often will I need to replace this pinion? — The hardened steel construction and precision manufacturing of the Corally pinion mean it will last significantly longer than budget alternatives. With proper maintenance, regular cleaning and lubrication, and correct mesh adjustment with your spur gear, this pinion should provide thousands of miles of driving before requiring replacement. However, if you frequently strip gears or experience drivetrain problems, a bent shaft or damaged pinion teeth might be the cause and replacement could immediately restore performance.
- What's the difference between the 50-tooth and other Corally pinion options? — Corally manufactures 64 DP pinions in multiple tooth counts, each affecting performance differently. Fewer teeth (such as 48T or 49T) provide snappier acceleration for tight technical tracks but limit top speed, whilst more teeth (such as 51T or 52T) allow higher top speeds but with slower acceleration. The 50T represents a middle ground that works well across most racing scenarios and track layouts throughout the UK.
- How do I install this pinion on my motor? — Installation requires removing your existing pinion using a 1.5mm hex key, sliding the new Corally pinion onto your motor shaft, and securing it with the grub screw. Ensure the pinion sits flush against the motor shaft shoulder and that mesh with your spur gear is properly adjusted (typically 0.2-0.3mm gap). Most RC car manuals provide detailed pinion installation instructions, and our team can provide guidance if you're unsure of the process.
- Is the Corally pinion suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst the Corally pinion is engineered to exacting professional standards, it's designed as a direct replacement for standard pinions and requires no special knowledge or tools to install beyond basic RC car maintenance skills. Beginners will immediately notice smoother, quieter operation and more consistent performance compared to budget alternatives, making it an excellent upgrade that delivers genuine performance benefits.
- What maintenance does this pinion require? — Pinion gears should be visually inspected regularly for damage, cracks or tooth stripping. Keep the gear clean and dry by removing dirt and moisture after each driving session. Apply a small amount of gear mesh lubricant where the pinion meshes with your spur gear to reduce friction and wear. Check that the pinion is secure on the motor shaft and that mesh gap is maintained within specification. These simple steps will extend the life of your pinion significantly.
