Key Features
- Special Hardened Steel Construction — The pinion is manufactured from hardened steel, which provides exceptional toughness and durability compared to softer materials, meaning this gear will withstand the constant stress of acceleration, deceleration, and gear mesh contact far longer than standard alternatives, saving you money on replacements.
- CNC Cut Teeth with Perfect Concentricity — Every tooth on this pinion is cut using precision CNC machinery to ensure perfect tooth shape and concentricity, which guarantees smooth engagement with your spur gear and eliminates binding, slipping, or jumping that would otherwise waste power and reduce acceleration response.
- Ultra-Precise Tooth Shaping — The advanced tooth profiling creates an optimal contact pattern that distributes load evenly across all teeth, extending the lifespan of both the pinion and spur gear whilst maintaining consistent performance throughout the life of the component.
- Ultra-True Running for Vibration-Free Operation — Manufacturing tolerances are so tight that this pinion runs dead-true in the gearbox, eliminating vibration that would otherwise be transmitted through the chassis and affecting handling precision, steering response, and overall driving feel.
- 27-Tooth Configuration — The 27T count provides an ideal balance between acceleration and top speed for many RC vehicles, offering quick spool-up for responsive driving whilst still allowing sufficient revs for competitive performance on larger track layouts.
- 64 DP Gear Pitch — This gear pitch (Diametral Pitch) is a standard specification for modern RC cars, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of Corally vehicles and other RC models using 64DP gearboxes, making this a versatile upgrade or replacement option.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Diameter — The pinion is designed specifically for motor shafts measuring 3.17mm, which is a common standard in RC applications, ensuring a proper slip-free fit that maximises power transfer from your brushless or brushed motor to the drivetrain.
- Short Profile Design — The compact length of 9.00mm and teeth width of 4.00mm makes this a short-profile pinion, which is ideal for tight gearbox configurations and vehicles with space constraints, without compromising on strength or load-carrying capacity.
- Easy Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number, allowing you to quickly identify the correct gear during assembly, maintenance, or when setting up multiple cars with different gearing ratios.
- 1.5mm Hex Key Installation — The pinion secures to the motor shaft using a standard 1.5mm hex key, making installation and removal straightforward without requiring specialist tools or technical expertise.
- Made in Europe — Manufactured to strict European quality standards, you can be confident that this Corally pinion meets rigorous engineering specifications and quality control measures from a recognised RC component manufacturer.
- Available in All Gearing Sizes — Corally offers this pinion in multiple tooth count configurations, allowing you to select the perfect gear ratio for your specific vehicle setup, track layout, and driving style, whether you prefer quick acceleration for tight courses or higher top speed for open layouts.
Technical Performance
The Corally 64 DP Pinion represents the pinnacle of precision engineering in RC drivetrain components. Built from special hardened steel using state-of-the-art CNC machinery, this pinion is engineered to withstand the constant stresses of competitive RC driving whilst maintaining exceptional concentricity and vibration-free operation. The 27-tooth configuration at 64 DP pitch provides an optimal balance suitable for diverse driving conditions, offering responsive acceleration for tight technical courses whilst still allowing sufficient motor revs for competitive performance on high-speed layouts. With a shaft diameter of 3.17mm, this pinion is compatible with standard RC brushless and brushed motors fitted with appropriately sized shafts. The teeth width of 4.00mm and overall length of 9.00mm make this a compact short-profile design that fits seamlessly into modern gearbox configurations without sacrificing strength or load capacity. The precision CNC cutting process ensures every tooth is shaped identically, creating optimal contact patterns that distribute mechanical stress evenly and minimise wear. This engineering excellence translates to extended service life, faster response times, more efficient power transmission, and the kind of consistent, predictable handling that separates casual RC drivers from serious competitors. Whether you're building a new RC car from scratch or upgrading the drivetrain of an existing model, this pinion delivers the performance reliability that UK-based RC enthusiasts expect from Team Corally's range of precision components.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a 64 DP pinion gear and why does it matter in RC cars? — The 64 DP designation refers to the Diametral Pitch, which is a measurement of gear tooth size and spacing. A 64 DP pinion is a smaller-pitch gear commonly used in modern RC vehicles, and it works in conjunction with your spur gear to create the overall gearing ratio that determines your car's acceleration and top speed characteristics. Selecting the correct pitch pinion for your vehicle is essential because using an incompatible pitch will result in poor mesh, binding, slipping, and potential drivetrain damage.
- Is the Corally 64 DP Pinion suitable for beginners? — Yes, this pinion is suitable for anyone maintaining or building an RC car, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced racer. However, you'll need to ensure your RC vehicle is equipped with a compatible 64 DP gearbox before purchasing. If you're unsure about compatibility, our team at RC Model Shop can help advise you on whether this pinion will work with your specific RC model.
- What motor shaft diameter does this pinion require? — This pinion is designed specifically for 3.17mm motor shaft diameters, which is a standard specification in most modern RC cars. Before purchasing, verify that your brushless or brushed motor has a shaft measuring 3.17mm, as using a pinion on an incorrectly-sized shaft will result in slipping and poor power transmission.
- How does the 27-tooth count affect my RC car's performance? — The 27-tooth pinion count is a popular mid-range option that balances acceleration with top-end speed. A lower tooth count (such as 25T) would provide quicker acceleration but lower top speed, whilst a higher tooth count (such as 29T) would increase top speed but reduce acceleration response. The 27T configuration suits a wide variety of track layouts and driving styles, making it a versatile choice for most RC enthusiasts in the UK.
- Why is hardened steel important in pinion gears? — Hardened steel provides superior toughness and wear resistance compared to softer materials, meaning this Corally pinion will maintain its tooth profile longer under the constant stresses of RC driving. Hardened steel resists stripping, cracking, and deformation far better than standard materials, translating to extended component lifespan and more consistent performance throughout the life of the gear.
- How do I install this pinion on my RC car? — Installation is straightforward: remove the motor from your RC car, slide the pinion onto the motor shaft, and secure it using the 1.5mm hex key provided or included with your motor. Ensure the pinion sits flush against the motor shaft coupling and that the set screw is tightened securely to prevent any movement during operation. Always double-check that the pinion meshes correctly with your spur gear before running your vehicle.
- What is the difference between this Corally pinion and cheaper alternatives? — The Corally pinion is manufactured using premium hardened steel and precision CNC machining processes that ensure tight tolerances, perfect concentricity, and ultra-true running characteristics. Cheaper pinions may be produced using softer materials or less precise manufacturing methods, resulting in vibration, inconsistent tooth engagement, and premature wear. The investment in a quality Corally pinion pays dividends through better performance, longer service life, and greater reliability during competitive driving or weekend bashing.
