Key Features
- 7075 T6 Hard Anodised Aluminium Construction — This premium aerospace-grade aluminium alloy provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio compared to standard materials, ensuring the pinion can handle high torque loads without unnecessary mass that would slow acceleration or drain battery capacity faster on your RC car.
- CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Geometry — Each tooth is precision-machined using computer numerical control to achieve exact tooth shape and concentricity, eliminating the vibration, noise, and drivetrain slop that inferior cast or stamped gears create, resulting in smoother acceleration and more responsive handling.
- 48 DP Module for Universal Compatibility — The 48 DP pitch specification means this pinion is compatible with all 48 DP geared RC cars and spur gears, giving you flexibility to experiment with different gear ratios without needing to purchase entirely new drivetrain systems.
- 26 Tooth Configuration — With 26 teeth, this pinion offers a middle-ground option within the Corally range, allowing you to fine-tune your vehicle's acceleration, top speed, and overall performance characteristics to match your specific track layout and driving style.
- 3.17mm Motor Shaft Diameter — This standard shaft size fits directly onto the majority of brushless and brushed RC motors used in modern RC cars across the UK market, making installation straightforward without the need for adapters or modifications.
- Short Profile Design — The compact 9.0mm overall gear length keeps rotating mass low and reduces the footprint within your RC car's drivetrain, contributing to improved chassis balance and responsiveness, particularly important in competitive racing applications.
- 4.0mm Teeth Width — The substantial tooth contact width provides excellent load distribution and durability during high-torque situations, whether you're accelerating hard out of corners or climbing over obstacles, preventing premature tooth stripping.
- Individually Marked Tooth Numbers — Every pinion is clearly marked with its tooth count, eliminating confusion when swapping gear ratios and making it simple to identify the correct pinion from your spares collection during setup changes between races or track sessions.
- European Manufacturing Excellence — Built to strict quality standards in Europe rather than mass-produced offshore, this pinion reflects Team Corally's commitment to precision and reliability that serious RC hobbyists and racers rely upon.
- 1.5mm Hex Key Installation — The pinion uses a standard 1.5mm hex wrench for secure fastening to your motor shaft, a tool you'll already have in your RC maintenance kit, ensuring quick and straightforward installation or replacement.
Technical Performance
This pinion gear represents a significant step forward in drivetrain performance for anyone upgrading from stock or lower-quality pinions. The 7075 T6 hard-anodised aluminium material is specifically chosen for its ability to maintain dimensional stability and hardness under repeated high-stress cycles, crucial when you're delivering rapid-fire acceleration runs or competing in intense racing sessions. The hard-anodised coating provides surface hardness comparable to industrial-grade components, resisting the micro-spalling and wear that can occur when teeth mesh with a spur gear thousands of times per session. The CNC cutting process ensures that every tooth has identical geometry, eliminating the run-out and wobble that creates drivetrain noise, vibration, and energy loss. With a 4.0mm tooth width and 9.0mm overall length, this short-profile design keeps the rotational inertia low, which means your motor responds more quickly to throttle input and your RC car accelerates with snappier response. The 26-tooth count positions this pinion in the versatile middle of the gearing range, providing a good balance between top speed and acceleration; paired with appropriate spur gears, it allows you to dial in performance for everything from tight technical courses to flowing high-speed tracks. For competitive RC racers and serious hobbyists running brushless motors in 48 DP geared systems, this pinion delivers the precision engineering and material quality that translates to lap time improvements and more enjoyable driving characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between 48 DP and other pinion pitch options? — DP (Diametral Pitch) is a measure of gear tooth size and spacing. The 48 DP specification means this pinion is designed to work with other 48 DP components like spur gears and transmission systems. If your RC car uses a 48 DP drivetrain, you must use 48 DP pinions; using the wrong pitch will result in poor mesh, noise, and premature wear. Always check your vehicle's specifications to confirm compatibility.
- How do I know which tooth count pinion I need? — The tooth count directly affects your vehicle's performance: lower tooth count (smaller pinion) provides higher top speed but reduced acceleration, while higher tooth count (larger pinion) increases acceleration and torque but reduces top speed. A 26T pinion is a versatile middle-ground option suitable for most track conditions. For tighter technical courses with tight turns, you might prefer a higher tooth count; for faster, more open layouts, a lower tooth count may be preferable. Consult your vehicle manual or RC enthusiast forums for specific recommendations for your model.
- Will this pinion fit my RC car? — This pinion will fit any RC car that uses 48 DP gearing and has a 3.17mm motor shaft diameter. Before purchasing, verify that your vehicle uses 48 DP components and confirm your motor shaft diameter measurement. If you're unsure, contact our expert team at RC Model Shop for guidance on compatibility with your specific setup.
- Why does this pinion cost more than generic alternatives? — The premium price reflects the superior material (aerospace-grade 7075 T6 aluminium), precise CNC manufacturing, hard-anodising process, and rigorous quality control. Generic pinions often use lower-grade materials or casting methods that introduce run-out, which creates vibration, noise, and premature tooth wear. Investing in quality components like this Corally pinion results in better performance, longer component lifespan, and reduced overall maintenance costs.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — With proper maintenance, a high-quality pinion like this should last many racing seasons or years of casual bashing. Inspect your pinion regularly for tooth wear, deformation, or damage. Replace it if you notice jerky acceleration, grinding noises, or visible tooth degradation. Keeping your pinion clean and properly lubricated, along with ensuring correct mesh with your spur gear, will maximise its lifespan.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a spare parts component rather than a complete vehicle or ready-to-run system, so it's designed for hobbyists who already have an RC car and understand how drivetrains work. Beginners should start with a ready-to-run RC car package. However, if you're a beginner looking to upgrade or maintain your existing RC car, this is an excellent component to have as a spare, and our team at RC Model Shop can help you understand installation and compatibility.
- What makes European-manufactured pinions better than imported alternatives? — European manufacturers like Team Corally typically implement stricter quality control processes, use higher-grade materials, and invest in precision manufacturing equipment. This results in tighter tolerances, more consistent geometry, and better durability. While European-made components may cost more upfront, the improved performance, reliability, and longevity represent better long-term value for serious RC enthusiasts.
