Overview
The Corally Steel Set Screws M3 x 3mm Hex (10 pcs) are essential replacement fasteners for RC enthusiasts maintaining their model cars and trucks. Whether you're running a high-performance brushless RC buggy, a competitive 1/10 scale racer, or any RC vehicle that uses M3 fasteners, having quality replacement set screws on hand is crucial for keeping your model in peak condition. These precision-engineered steel screws meet DIN 916 industrial standards, ensuring reliable performance and longevity in demanding RC applications across the UK and beyond.
Set screws are fundamental components in RC engineering, used to secure motor shafts, pinions, pulleys, and other critical rotating parts to their mounting surfaces. When you're maintaining your RC car UK collection or preparing for weekend bashing sessions, worn or damaged set screws can compromise performance, cause slippage, or even lead to component failure. The Corally Steel Set Screws M3 x 3mm provide a dependable solution with their hardened steel construction and precise hex socket design, giving you confidence that your RC truck, buggy, or truggy will perform reliably every time you take it to the track or field.
Available now from RC Model Shop, this 10-piece pack gives you multiple replacement options, making it ideal for hobbyists who maintain multiple vehicles or those who like to keep spares handy. The compact M3 size makes these screws suitable for use across a wide range of RC models, from small-scale electric racing buggies to larger nitro-powered vehicles. When quality fasteners matter, Corally's reputation in the RC industry speaks volumes.
Key Features
- DIN 916 Industrial Standard — These set screws are manufactured to DIN 916 specifications, which is the internationally recognised standard for hexagon socket set screws, ensuring consistent quality, precise dimensions, and reliable performance in every application.
- Hardened Steel Construction — The use of hardened steel material provides superior strength and durability compared to lower-grade fasteners, preventing stripping, shearing, or deformation even under the high rotational forces found in RC motorsport applications.
- M3 Thread Specification — The M3 metric thread size is one of the most commonly used fastener sizes in RC hobby applications, making these screws compatible with a wide variety of motor shafts, pinion gears, and component mounting points across different RC vehicle types.
- 3mm Length — The 3mm length is precisely engineered to provide adequate grip depth without bottoming out in shallow tapped holes, making this size ideal for securing lightweight components and precision-engineered RC parts.
- Hexagon Socket Head — The hex socket design allows for precise engagement with hex keys (Allen keys) of the correct size, providing superior grip and reducing the risk of rounding out the socket compared to slotted or Phillips head alternatives commonly found in inferior fasteners.
- 10-Piece Pack — This generous pack quantity ensures you have multiple replacement options available, reducing downtime and allowing you to keep your ready to run RC vehicles, race kits, and hobby projects running smoothly throughout the season.
- Black Colour Finish — The black finish provides a professional appearance whilst offering subtle corrosion resistance, keeping your RC car looking sharp whether you're running it on tarmac, gravel, or indoor carpet tracks.
Technical Performance
The Corally Steel Set Screws M3 x 3mm represent precision engineering at its finest for RC hobbyists. These fasteners are manufactured from high-grade hardened steel, delivering exceptional strength-to-weight ratio that refuses to compromise on either front. The M3 metric thread size aligns perfectly with industry standards used across most modern RC vehicles, from compact 1/10 scale electric buggies through to larger brushless RC trucks and truggy platforms. The 3mm length provides optimal engagement depth, securing motor shafts and pinion gears without risk of over-tightening or damaging sensitive aluminium components. With a hex socket head design that meets DIN 916 specifications, each screw ensures maximum torque transfer efficiency whilst minimising the risk of socket stripping — a critical consideration when you're fine-tuning your RC car UK setup before competition or casual weekend running sessions. The black hardened steel finish resists corrosion and maintains its appearance through hundreds of hours of use, whether you're racing on tarmac or bashing through muddy off-road terrain.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What are set screws used for in RC cars and what is their purpose? — Set screws are used to secure rotating components such as motor shafts, pinion gears, clutch bells, and pulleys to their mounting surfaces. They work by creating a permanent mechanical lock that prevents slippage or rotation under load. In RC vehicles, set screws are absolutely critical for maintaining the integrity of your drivetrain — without secure fastening, power transfer becomes inefficient and components can slip, causing poor handling, loss of acceleration, and potential mechanical failure during racing or bashing sessions.
- Are these set screws suitable for all RC vehicles and vehicle types? — The M3 x 3mm size is widely used across most modern RC cars, buggies, trucks, and truggy platforms, making these screws highly versatile. However, you should always verify that your specific vehicle uses M3 fasteners before purchasing. These screws are ideal for 1/10 scale vehicles and many 1/8 scale applications, though some larger or specialist vehicles may require different sizes. Check your vehicle's manual or parts diagram to confirm compatibility.
- What does DIN 916 standard mean and why does it matter for RC fasteners? — DIN 916 is the internationally recognised German industrial standard for hexagon socket set screws. This specification ensures consistent thread pitch, dimensional accuracy, material hardness, and performance characteristics across all fasteners carrying the DIN 916 designation. When you buy DIN 916 compliant screws, you're guaranteed precision engineering and reliability — these screws won't strip easily, won't deform under load, and will provide years of reliable service in your RC collection.
- Why is hardened steel better than standard steel for RC set screws? — Hardened steel is heat-treated to increase its strength and hardness, making it significantly more resistant to stripping, shearing, and deformation compared to standard untreated steel. In high-performance RC applications where rotational forces are substantial, hardened steel fasteners maintain their structural integrity over thousands of operating cycles, whereas softer alternatives can develop stripped threads, rounding, or even breakage after extended use.
- Do I need special tools to install these set screws? — Yes, you'll need a hex key (Allen key) of the correct size to fit the hex socket head. Most RC hobbyists have a selection of hex keys in their toolbox, but you should verify the exact size required before installation. Ensure you use the correctly sized hex key to avoid rounding out the socket, which would damage the screw and make it impossible to remove.
- How many times can these set screws be reused? — High-quality hardened steel set screws like these can be removed and reinstalled many times without loss of function. However, if a screw becomes stripped, damaged, or corroded, it should be replaced with a fresh one. This is why keeping a pack of 10 spare screws is recommended — you'll always have replacements available without having to wait for delivery when you need to service your RC car UK setup.
