Overview
The Corally Servo Saver HD Large Universal is an essential upgrade for RC enthusiasts looking to protect their servo from damage during high-impact driving. Whether you're piloting a fast RC buggy, high-performance RC truck, or competitive RC car, servo savers have become an indispensable component in modern RC setups across the UK. This universal servo saver is designed to fit multiple servo spline types, making it compatible with 23, 24, and 25-spline servos — the most commonly used sizes in today's RC hobby. If you're running a ready to run RC model or building a competition-grade setup, this Corally servo saver offers reliable protection without compromising steering response or precision.
Servo damage is one of the most frustrating failures in RC car racing and bashing. When your RC vehicle crashes hard or hits an obstacle at high speed, the impact forces can be transferred directly to your servo, stripping gears, cracking the case, or breaking internal components. The Corally Servo Saver HD solves this problem by absorbing and dampening those shock loads before they reach your expensive servo. The HD (Heavy Duty) designation indicates this is a reinforced version designed to withstand the demands of serious RC driving, whether you're racing on UK RC tracks, bashing in fields, or competing in off-road events.
Built from durable plastic composite material, this servo saver combines lightweight construction with robust impact resistance. The 3mm hole specification ensures compatibility with standard servo shafts, and the universal design means you won't need to buy multiple servo savers for different vehicles. RC Model Shop stocks this Corally spare part to ensure UK-based RC drivers have access to quality replacement and upgrade components whenever they need them.
Key Features
- Multi-Spline Compatibility — This servo saver fits 23, 24, and 25-spline servo outputs, making it genuinely universal across most modern RC servos used in the UK RC hobby. This single part eliminates the need to stock different servo savers for different vehicles.
- Heavy Duty Construction — The HD designation means this servo saver is engineered for serious use, with reinforced design that can handle repeated impacts and high-load steering demands without degrading performance or failing prematurely.
- 3mm Shaft Hole — The 3mm hole diameter is the standard specification for high-torque servo applications, ensuring a secure fit that won't slip or cause binding during aggressive steering inputs.
- Impact Absorption — By using a flexing mechanism between the servo horn and the steering linkage, this servo saver absorbs sudden shock loads that would otherwise damage your servo's internal gearing, extending servo lifespan significantly.
- Lightweight Plastic Material — Constructed from durable plastic composite, the servo saver keeps your RC car's weight minimal whilst providing adequate strength to handle the demands of competitive RC driving and weekend bashing.
- Universal Design — Whether you're running a 1/10 scale RC buggy, a 1/8 scale truggy, or any other RC vehicle type, this universal servo saver will integrate seamlessly with your existing servo setup without requiring modifications.
- Easy Installation — Simply attach to your servo spline and connect your steering linkage — no modification to your RC car's steering geometry is required, making this an ideal retrofit upgrade for existing vehicles.
Technical Performance
The Corally Servo Saver HD Large represents the culmination of years of RC design evolution, addressing one of the most critical weak points in RC vehicle steering systems. When you're driving an RC car at full throttle and hit an unexpected obstacle, the sudden deceleration creates enormous forces that try to turn the steering servo output gear. Without a servo saver, these forces go directly into your servo, and if they exceed the servo's mechanical limits, internal gears strip, the servo arm breaks, or the output shaft snaps. The servo saver solves this by introducing a compliance mechanism — the servo horn mounts to the saver, not directly to the servo, allowing controlled flex that dissipates impact energy. The heavy-duty plastic material used in this Corally component is specifically formulated to provide the right balance: flex when needed to protect the servo, but rigid enough to maintain precise steering feel during normal driving. The 3mm hole specification is critical for servo compatibility, and the plastic construction ensures the part won't corrode or degrade even when exposed to moisture and dirt typical of UK RC bashing conditions. This servo saver maintains the steering response and accuracy you need for competitive RC racing whilst providing the impact protection necessary for durability in real-world driving scenarios.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this servo saver work with my RC servo? — Yes, provided your servo has a 23, 24, or 25-spline output shaft, which covers the vast majority of RC servos sold in the UK. The 3mm centre hole is the standard specification for these servo sizes. Check your servo's specification sheet or count the splines on your existing servo horn if you're unsure.
- Do I need a servo saver on my RC car? — If you're using an inexpensive servo, a servo saver is optional but recommended. However, if you've invested in a high-quality servo from brands like Futaba, Savox, or JR, a servo saver becomes essential protection. The cost of a servo saver (under £10) is far less than replacing a damaged servo (£30-£100+), making it excellent value for money.
- What's the difference between a servo saver and a servo horn? — A servo horn is a rigid lever that mounts directly to your servo shaft, whilst a servo saver is a specially designed horn with flex built in. The servo saver absorbs impacts before they reach the servo's internal gears, whilst a standard horn transfers all forces directly to the servo. For RC racing and serious driving, a servo saver is the clear choice.
- Can I use this on a digital servo? — Yes. This Corally servo saver works with both analogue and digital servos, as long as they have the correct spline type. Digital servos are more robust than analogue servos, but they're also significantly more expensive, making protection with a servo saver even more worthwhile.
- Is this suitable for beginner RC drivers? — Absolutely. In fact, beginners should prioritise fitting a servo saver, as they're still developing vehicle control and are more likely to crash. Protecting your servo from the start saves money and frustration. This is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make to any RC car.
- How do I install the Corally servo saver? — Installation is straightforward: remove your current servo horn from the servo shaft, slide the servo saver onto the spline in its place, secure it with your servo's horn screw, then attach your steering linkage to the servo saver's outer holes using the same method as before. No modifications to your RC car are needed.
- Will a servo saver affect my steering precision? — When properly installed and maintained, a servo saver has negligible impact on steering precision during normal driving. The flex only engages when impacts occur, so your RC car's handling characteristics remain unchanged during competitive racing or everyday driving.
