Overview

The Corally Spur Gear 46T MOD1.0 Low Noise Composite is an essential upgrade component for RC enthusiasts looking to enhance their vehicle's drivetrain performance and reduce noise levels during operation. Whether you're running a Corally buggy, truck, or basher in the UK, this precision-engineered spur gear delivers the reliability and smooth operation that serious RC drivers demand. Built from advanced composite material rather than traditional steel, this 46-tooth spur gear combines durability with the added benefit of significantly reduced gear mesh noise, making it ideal for both competitive racing environments and casual backyard bashing sessions.

This low-noise spur gear is engineered specifically for drivers who want to maintain peak performance without the audible whine that standard metal gears can produce. The MOD1.0 module specification ensures compatibility with a wide range of Corally RC models and other vehicles using standard module 1.0 gearing systems. For bashers and racers alike, upgrading to a quality spur gear like this one is one of the most effective ways to improve acceleration response, reduce drivetrain strain, and extend the overall lifespan of your RC car's transmission system.

As a critical component in any RC car's drivetrain, the spur gear directly impacts how power is delivered from your motor to the wheels. Choosing a genuine Corally part ensures you're getting a component that has been tested and optimised for performance across the full range of Corally vehicles. Whether you're setting up a new RC model, replacing a worn gear, or building your ideal RC racing setup in the UK, this composite spur gear represents an excellent investment in reliability and performance.

Key Features

  • Low Noise Composite Construction — Built from specialised composite material rather than traditional metal, this spur gear produces significantly less noise during mesh engagement, which is particularly beneficial when running multiple RC cars at events or training sessions, and helps reduce the mechanical stress on adjacent drivetrain components.
  • 46-Tooth Configuration — The 46T tooth count provides an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed for most driving styles, offering sufficient gear reduction for responsive handling without sacrificing overall velocity, making it versatile for both racing and recreational driving.
  • MOD1.0 Module Standard — Designed to the MOD1.0 (Module 1.0) specification, this gear maintains precise pitch diameter and tooth engagement geometry, ensuring smooth meshing with compatible pinion gears and guaranteeing reliable power transmission across the drivetrain.
  • Genuine Corally Component — Manufactured by Corally, a recognised leader in RC precision engineering, this spur gear meets the exacting standards expected by competitive RC drivers and is specifically engineered to work seamlessly with Corally RC vehicle platforms.
  • Enhanced Durability — The composite material formulation provides excellent wear resistance whilst absorbing minor impacts and vibration that would damage traditional metal gears, extending the operational lifespan of your entire drivetrain system.
  • Single Piece Unit — This package includes one precision-manufactured spur gear ready for immediate installation, making it perfect for replacement, repair, or upgrading an existing RC drivetrain.

Technical Performance

The Corally Spur Gear 46T MOD1.0 Low Noise Composite represents a significant advancement in drivetrain technology for RC enthusiasts across the UK. The composite material formulation used in this gear's construction has been specifically engineered to provide the perfect balance between strength and noise reduction. Unlike traditional steel spur gears that can produce noticeable whining sounds during operation, this composite design dampens vibrations and gear mesh noise whilst maintaining the rigidity necessary for reliable power transmission. The 46-tooth configuration is a popular choice among RC drivers because it provides sufficient gear reduction for responsive acceleration whilst maintaining adequate top-end speed for both competitive racing and high-speed bashing applications. The MOD1.0 module specification ensures precise tooth pitch and engagement geometry, meaning this gear will mesh smoothly and efficiently with compatible MOD1.0 pinion gears from Corally and other manufacturers. The single-piece construction eliminates any potential weak points in the gear assembly, and the composite material's inherent damping properties help reduce shock loads on the motor and ESC during aggressive acceleration or sudden directional changes. This makes the gear particularly valuable for drivers who frequently bash or perform jumps and hard landings, as it helps protect other drivetrain components from impact damage. The low-noise characteristics make this an excellent choice for racing events, practice sessions, and training facilities where noise levels need to be controlled. Installation is straightforward for anyone with basic RC maintenance experience, requiring only removal of the old gear and installation of the new unit onto the main drivetrain shaft.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does MOD1.0 mean and is it compatible with my RC car? — MOD1.0 refers to Module 1.0, a standard tooth pitch specification used in RC gearing systems. If your RC car uses MOD1.0 gears, this spur gear will be fully compatible. Check your vehicle's documentation or existing gears to confirm compatibility. Corally vehicles using MOD1.0 gears will definitely work with this component.
  • Why is a composite spur gear better than a steel one? — Composite gears offer several advantages over traditional steel gears. The composite material produces significantly less noise during operation, making it ideal for racing events and shared facilities. The material also absorbs vibration and minor impacts more effectively, which can extend the lifespan of your entire drivetrain by reducing stress on the motor and other components. Steel gears are harder and may be slightly more durable in extreme conditions, but composite gears offer an excellent balance of performance and practicality for most RC drivers.
  • How do I know if I need to replace my spur gear? — Signs that your spur gear needs replacement include visible tooth wear or chipping, increased noise during operation, grinding sounds when accelerating, or slipping during acceleration. If you've damaged your gear in a crash or noticed performance degradation, a replacement gear like this one will restore drivetrain performance. Even without visible damage, replacing a worn gear preventatively can maintain optimal RC car performance.
  • What is the difference between this composite gear and the steel alternative? — Corally manufactures both a 46T steel CNC machined spur gear (model C-00180-091) and this low-noise composite version (C-00180-1022). The steel version offers maximum durability for extreme racing conditions and delivers absolute peak performance. This composite version prioritises noise reduction and vibration dampening, making it ideal for drivers who want a quieter, smoother-running drivetrain with excellent real-world performance. The composite gear is also more affordable than the steel alternative, making it an excellent choice for bashers and recreational drivers.
  • Can I use this gear for high-speed racing? — Absolutely. The 46-tooth configuration and MOD1.0 specification make this gear suitable for both racing and bashing applications. Whilst the composite material doesn't quite match the absolute durability of steel gears under extreme competition conditions, it performs excellently for the vast majority of RC drivers and provides the added benefits of noise reduction and vibration dampening. Many UK RC clubs and tracks use composite gears in their racing programmes with excellent results.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this spur gear is suitable for RC drivers at any skill level. Beginners will appreciate the quiet operation and smooth drivetrain performance, whilst experienced drivers will value the noise reduction and cost-effectiveness compared to premium steel alternatives. Gear replacement is a basic RC maintenance task that builds mechanical knowledge, making this an excellent component for newer drivers to work with.
