Overview

The Corally Shock Piston Composite 2x 1.7mm Holes (2 pcs) is an essential replacement part for RC enthusiasts maintaining their Corally RC cars and radio control vehicles. Whether you're a seasoned competitor running your RC model at the track or a weekend basher pushing your machine to the limit, shock pistons are critical components that wear over time and require regular replacement. Team Corally has engineered these composite shock pistons to deliver consistent damping performance and reliable suspension tuning for your RC car UK setup.

Manufactured by Team Corally, a recognised leader in high-quality RC car parts and accessories, this pack contains two composite shock pistons featuring dual 1.7mm orifice holes. These precision-engineered components are designed to work seamlessly with Corally shock absorber systems, ensuring your suspension performs at its best whether you're tackling off-road terrain, carpet tracks, or competitive racing circuits. As a spare part that directly impacts your RC vehicle's handling characteristics and ride quality, investing in genuine Corally components like this piston set is crucial for maintaining peak performance and extending the life of your shock absorbers.

For anyone serious about their RC hobby, having replacement shock pistons on hand is simply good sense. Over time, the composite material experiences wear from repeated compression and extension cycles, which can degrade damping performance and alter your vehicle's suspension behaviour. This genuine Corally product ensures you can restore your shocks to factory specifications quickly and affordably, keeping your RC model in optimal condition for whatever challenges you throw at it.

Key Features

  • Composite Construction — These shock pistons are manufactured from composite material, which offers an excellent balance of durability, weight savings and consistent performance across repeated suspension cycles, making them ideal for both recreational and competitive RC car driving.
  • Dual 1.7mm Orifice Holes — The two precisely-engineered 1.7mm holes are strategically designed to control fluid flow through the piston during compression and rebound, directly affecting your suspension's damping characteristics and allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's handling to suit different track conditions and driving styles.
  • Two Pistons Per Pack — This pack includes two shock pistons, which is ideal for maintaining your RC suspension since you typically need to replace pistons in pairs to ensure balanced front-to-rear or left-to-right damping, or to have a spare set ready for your next maintenance schedule.
  • Genuine Team Corally Component — As an authorised Corally product, these pistons are manufactured to the exact same specifications and quality standards as the original equipment on your RC model, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance without any compatibility concerns.
  • Direct Suspension Tuning Tool — By swapping shock pistons with different orifice configurations, RC enthusiasts can fine-tune their vehicle's suspension response, effectively adjusting damping rates to optimise handling for different terrain types, weather conditions, or racing scenarios without replacing entire shock assemblies.

Technical Performance

Shock pistons are fundamental components in RC car suspension systems, functioning as the critical interface between damping fluid and the shock shaft during compression and rebound cycles. The Corally Shock Piston Composite with 2x 1.7mm holes represents a precision-engineered solution for maintaining your RC suspension at peak performance. The composite material selected by Team Corally has been chosen specifically for its durability under repeated stress cycles, superior wear resistance compared to certain alternative materials, and ability to maintain consistent damping behaviour throughout extended racing sessions. The dual 1.7mm orifice holes are engineered to a tight tolerance, controlling the rate at which damping fluid flows through the piston as your suspension responds to track surfaces, jumps and impacts. This controlled fluid flow directly determines your RC car's damping rate—how quickly the suspension compresses and rebounds after hitting obstacles or landing jumps. For RC enthusiasts seeking to optimise their vehicle's handling characteristics, whether running an electric RC buggy, truggy or other Corally platform, having properly functioning shock pistons with appropriate orifice sizing is essential. The manufacturing tolerances on Corally genuine components ensure that each piston performs consistently, preventing the performance degradation that occurs when pistons become worn or damaged from extended use.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do shock pistons need replacing on my RC car? — Shock pistons experience constant stress during operation as your RC vehicle bounces, lands jumps and navigates obstacles. Over hundreds of hours of driving, the composite material gradually wears, tiny scratches and scoring develop on the piston surface, and damping fluid can begin to seep around the edges rather than flowing through the precision holes. This wear reduces damping performance, making your suspension feel softer and less responsive. Replacing worn pistons restores your suspension to factory performance characteristics and ensures your RC car handles as the manufacturer intended.
  • How often should I replace my shock pistons? — For casual RC hobbyists driving weekends, shock pistons typically last many months before requiring replacement. Competitive racers running their RC cars multiple times weekly at the track may need to inspect and replace pistons more frequently—perhaps every few months depending on track conditions and driving intensity. Regular maintenance checks of your suspension components will help you determine when replacement becomes necessary.
  • Will these Corally pistons fit my RC model? — These are genuine Team Corally components designed specifically for Corally shock absorber systems. As long as your RC car uses Corally-branded shocks, these pistons will fit perfectly without any compatibility issues. If you're uncertain which shock system your RC vehicle uses, check your vehicle's documentation or contact the RC Model Shop team for clarification.
  • What is the difference between composite and other piston materials? — Team Corally manufactures these pistons from composite material, which offers an excellent balance between durability, weight and cost-effectiveness. Composite pistons provide reliable damping performance for both recreational and competitive driving without the premium price point of certain alternative materials, making them an outstanding value proposition for RC enthusiasts of all skill levels.
  • Can I adjust my suspension damping by changing shock pistons? — Yes, one of the most practical aspects of shock piston selection is that different orifice hole sizes—typically ranging from 1.5mm to 2.0mm—create different damping rates. A piston with smaller holes creates higher damping resistance and a stiffer suspension feel, whilst larger holes provide lower damping and a softer response. Many RC enthusiasts purchase several piston options to tune their vehicle for different track conditions, weather or racing scenarios, making shock pistons an essential tuning tool in competitive RC racing.
