Overview

The TEAM ASSOCIATED RC10B74.2 FT Lightweight Driveline Center Kit is a precision-engineered performance upgrade designed for serious RC car enthusiasts in the UK who demand maximum efficiency from their competition buggies. Factory Team has developed this specialist component to deliver a measurable advantage on the track by reducing the rotational mass of your centre driveline, making it an essential upgrade for anyone running the RC10B74 series platform in competitive 13.5T Spec class racing. Whether you're a dedicated racer looking to shave milliseconds off your lap times or an experienced RC hobbyist seeking to optimise your vehicle's performance, this lightweight driveline centre kit represents genuine engineering innovation from one of the most respected names in RC car manufacturing.

This is not a beginner's modification—it's a targeted upgrade for drivers who understand drivetrain dynamics and want to extract every ounce of performance from their machine. The RC10B74.2 FT Lightweight Driveline Center Kit addresses a critical aspect of buggy performance that many UK RC enthusiasts overlook: rotational inertia in the centre drivetrain. By reducing the mass that needs to accelerate and decelerate, Factory Team has created a component that directly improves throttle response, corner exit acceleration, and overall handling characteristics. The thoughtful engineering behind this kit demonstrates why Team Associated remains the choice of champions in the RC buggy world.

As an authorised Team Associated retailer serving the UK RC community, RC Model Shop is proud to stock this Factory Team specification component, ensuring you receive a genuine product backed by manufacturer warranty and expert support. This lightweight driveline centre kit is ideal for competitors preparing their RC10B74 series vehicles for race meetings, practice sessions, and serious bashers who want their cars to perform at their absolute best.

Key Features

  • 19.3g Weight Reduction — The kit reduces the rotational mass of the centre driveline by a total of 19.3 grams compared to standard steel parts, delivering a significant improvement in throttle response and corner acceleration that translates directly into faster lap times and more precise vehicle control.
  • Plastic Blade Contact Surfaces — Factory Team has engineered plastic blades that act as the contact surface between the dog bone pins and outdrives, which reduces wear and tear on these critical components and extends the service life of your driveline while maintaining performance reliability.
  • Factory Team Engineering — This is an official Factory Team upgrade component, representing the same precision manufacturing and material science that Team Associated employs in their competition vehicles, giving you factory-specification performance upgrades.
  • Designed for 13.5T Spec Class — This kit is purpose-built for the 13.5T Spec class racing format in combination with a centre differential, ensuring compatibility with the specific regulations and performance parameters of this popular competitive class.
  • Durability-Focused Design — Rather than sacrificing longevity for weight savings, Factory Team has balanced performance gains with durability, ensuring that you can race hard without worrying about premature component failure.
  • Wide Platform Compatibility — The kit fits multiple vehicles in the RC10B74 series including the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B84, and RC10B84D, making it a versatile upgrade if you're running any variant of these platforms.

Technical Performance

This lightweight driveline centre kit represents the pinnacle of performance-focused component engineering for RC10B74 series buggies. The reduction of 19.3 grams in rotational mass might sound modest, but in the context of a small-scale RC vehicle, this directly translates into measurable performance improvements. The physics is straightforward: lower rotational inertia means faster acceleration of rotating components, sharper throttle response, and improved energy efficiency. The plastic blade design is not a cost-cutting measure—it's a considered engineering choice that provides superior wear characteristics compared to steel components. When dog bone pins engage with outdrives thousands of times per run, the plastic blades distribute loads more evenly and create a sacrificial wear surface that protects the more critical metal components underneath. This approach extends the service intervals between rebuilds and maintains consistent performance throughout the life of the component. The kit is engineered specifically for use with a centre differential in 13.5T Spec class racing, where torque loads and RPM ranges are predictable and controlled. Factory Team explicitly notes this kit is not recommended for modified racing or use with a slipper clutch, as these applications create different load profiles that the component was not designed to handle. Built to Team Associated's exacting quality standards, this is precision engineering in miniature—every component manufactured to tolerances measured in fractions of a millimetre to ensure perfect fitment and consistent performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the weight saving with this lightweight driveline centre kit? — The kit reduces rotational mass by 19.3 grams compared to standard steel driveline components. This weight saving is specifically in the rotating parts of the centre driveline, which has a multiplied effect on vehicle performance since this mass spins continuously throughout acceleration and deceleration.
  • Will this kit work with my RC10B74 buggy? — Yes, this kit is compatible with the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B84, and RC10B84D. However, it is specifically designed for use with a centre differential in 13.5T Spec class racing and is not recommended for modified racing or use with a slipper clutch.
  • What is the difference between this lightweight kit and standard driveline components? — The standard components are made from steel and are heavier, with different contact surface materials between the dog bone pins and outdrives. This Factory Team kit reduces weight by 19.3 grams and uses plastic blade contact surfaces to reduce wear while maintaining durability and performance reliability.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — This is not a beginner's component—it's an advanced performance upgrade designed for experienced RC drivers who understand drivetrain mechanics and are competing in 13.5T Spec class racing or equivalent competition formats. Beginners should focus on developing driving skills with standard components before investing in performance upgrades.
  • Can I use this kit with a slipper clutch? — No, Factory Team explicitly does not recommend using this lightweight driveline centre kit with a slipper clutch. The kit is designed for 13.5T Spec class racing with a centre differential, where torque characteristics are consistent and predictable. Slipper clutch applications create different load profiles that this component was not engineered to handle.
  • Why should I upgrade to this lightweight driveline kit? — If you're serious about improving your RC10B74 series buggy's performance in competitive racing, this kit delivers measurable benefits in throttle response, corner exit acceleration, and overall vehicle dynamics. The weight reduction in rotating components has a multiplicative effect on performance, while the plastic blade design extends component life and reduces maintenance intervals.
